2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona

Thats why some teams prioritize staying on the lead lap rather than be
over concerned about gap building. Its all about getting a healthy car
and fresh drivers to the final 2 hours, whatever it takes.

Sunrise at 7:15 a.m. EST.

No way this lady is screaming doing an interview and these guys are trying to sleep in the back ground

Compared to the engines all around, and the banging and clanging from your own and other bays, and the infield partiers, her yelling ain't squat.

If you get tired enough, you can sleep through anything. I've been on Army training exercises where we slept through outgoing artillery fire.

In addition to that I would imagine they are using earplugs.

Thanks for the information. Makes sense if that’s the case but kinda kills it for me when there is no variety.
I get it but these cars kinda carried Prototype racing during the years where Toyota was the sole LMP1 manufacturer. Glad these times are over.
They still serve a purpose as the continental top class in ELMS and ALMS and as a less expensive starting point for young prototype drivers.

The booth mentioned one reason the competition in LMP2 has improved lately is because there are more top-tier drivers globally than there are seats available in GTPs, HyperCars, etc. LMP2 provides slots for those guys who are between prototype rides to keep their skills up and demonstrate those abilities.

Six hours left, by the way.

Turned it on just in time to sit through a half hour caution for a single car incident where the car drove away.

Also LOL I see Crowdstrike continues to invest in the cars rather than the cybersecurity.

I'm still not a fan of the safety cars. Building a gap over five hours only to kill all the work with one caution just doesn't feel right in an endurance race.
It’s slowly becoming that way at Le Mans as well, and there’s a lot more room for safety vehicle intervention there. Daytona is a tricky place to find gaps for safety workers to attend to incidents. Is it “pure”…probably not. Is it safer and does it keep things more interesting for most people…yes. Competitors seem to enjoy it so I don’t foresee a process change anytime soon.

The cautions can be a bit drawn out, but that’ll happen when you have wave arounds, split pit procedure, and class split.

Am I watching the 24 Hours of Daytona or the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing? Nepobabies gonna nepobaby, I guess, regardless if they're a futures trader from Hamilton Ontario or a 15 year old from Plano Texas.
