2024 Next Gen Car

Looks simple to me, they are set up for it. Fans demand close racing. The average fan could care less about the details as long as the competition is close. No sane fan wants one team to win every race. Somehow comparing this with their numerous brands and classes to Nascar is ludicrous. If you have a better solution to racing numerous classes and brands together, I sure would like to hear it.

Maybe this is what YOU want to see in auto racing, but it sure isn't want I want to see.
I have different standards for different series. I'm not unhappy to see detailed BOP when dealing six or eight or ten manufacturers. I don’t think this model would be appropriate for a three- or four-manufacturer series; certainly not for IndyCar's two.

It's a nothing burger to me. These days you can dial up or down horsepower and torque from a lap top computer. Installing a torque measuring device is pretty simple, it's an industry standard in many series and it helps to level the playing field.

What I will never understand are people think it just fine for one team or manufacturers to have an advantage over the whole field and dominate a series. Thinking it thru with that with that tilted competition, how boring would that get?

It's pretty much the same with the more horsepower people. The new car is hard to drive, how many Xfinity drivers have moved up and become a star...none. More horsepower isn't going to solve anything, the car was designed for the horsepower it has. All you have to do is read about all of the changes they made to the LeMans car to take out all of the things that made it hard to drive. Parts of the outside shell was about all that was left of the next gen.

What is the point of racing if you can't get an advantage or make up the gap on your own if you get behind?

You need to ask the 5 team that, they led almost every lap this weekend in both series and 2nd in the 3rd.
Superior talent in the Truck and Xfinity race. In the Cup race, if anyone else had managed to get out front instead of Larson, they probably would have done the same thing.

I don't agree. He didn't start on pole.....and Larson was epic in traffic.

Remember when ole Rowdy would do that? You were screeching like a little kid. Where are you now?

I can't understand the bitching about the car. When you level the playing field in terms of equipment, what do you think happens? The most talented drivers go to the top....as it should be.

I pretty much think they have a problem with a beat down and they have a problem with GWC's, they have a problem with the car, I think they have problems.

About fans not wanting to see the same team win all the time, they either forgot or wasn't a fan in the late 90's when Jeff Gordon was winning all the time. He won 14 races in '98.
Went poking around looking for Rusty Wallace's wins...thought he had multiple double digit win seasons. Nope. Just one @ 10 wins.

NASCAR considering increase in horsepower for short tracks

May 28, 2025 at 1:22 PM

After hinting in a recent “Hauler Talk” episode that NASCAR was considering an increase to 750 horsepower for Cup engines as early as this season, [ NASCAR managing director of communications Mike] Forde said that the topic came up last week during separate meetings with team owners and drivers.
“It was something we proactively brought up to have a further discussion of improving the short-track package,” Forde said. “Obviously the drivers all embraced that topic and requested more and more horsepower. So we said, ‘You got it. We’ll look into it.’ We are working with engine builders on that, and we’ll see if this is something that’s put into place this season.”

It's about time...make it "across the board." Next, take the rear diffuser off at Bristol, and everywhere else for that matter.

I'm probably one of the few who isn't at all excited. If drivers/teams had their way we would be back to slab sided cars and single file racing.
