    Rate the All-Star Race Experiment

I gave the All-Star race a 6 based on the scale above. It was an interesting experiment by NASCAR but not quite as good as the 2016 AAA 400. I also thought it was much better than the 2015 Pure Michigan 400, so I ended up with a 6.

    Rate the All-Star Race Experiment

I'm experimenting with a different way to rate each race and wouldn't mind some feedback. The rating is from 0 to 11, but mainly 1-10. There is no 5 because it is in the middle. I would prefer to know if the race was slightly positive or slightly negative rather than just middle of the road...

Good discussion about what makes "good racing"

This is how to make the xfinity series interesting again. Just make the Xfinity series the West, and the Cup series the East. Make the 4 car teams split into each division, i.e. 2 in the east and 2 in the west. Daytona, Talladega, Charlotte, Vegas, and Darlington are the combined events...

Tired of seeing the same 3 cars capable of winning on speed.

Hey some of the older/veteran guys aren't getting it done either, Kenseth, JJ, McMurray, Hamlin, Menard, Kahne, Newman. Bottom line is that only 3 guys and 2 manufacturers are getting it done this year.

Tired of seeing the same 3 cars capable of winning on speed.

Not sure I would keep Larson in the same company as the rest of these guys. He has at least finished 2nd several times this year. I attribute his struggles to the new camaro. He has been the only Chevy driver even close to a victory this year. The camaros are getting better but still aren't there.

    2018 Pocono -- Gander Outdoors 400 - Pre-Race Thread

I'm still bummed they made turn two so easy to get through. It used to be a really tight fast turn and if you go on the apron it cost you, now they just drive over the apron every lap.

    Cup RACE thread --- Loudon

Two things about the race that caught my attention. 1. Harvick's bump was so clean that is was almost boring to watch. Almost. 2. Can the NBC crew hype Chase Elliot's stage 2 win any more? It was definitely a Chase Elliot is the fan favorite, and Chevy can win, see, see, type moment.

    Parity in the Cup Series.....

This article is proof that the cars are so aero-dependant that fractions of an inch matter and create an advantage. The more aero-dependant a car is the less mechanical grip it has. Lower funded teams don't spend money on aero, they buy old cars from the big teams in hopes that they can get as...

    The DNF thread

As of 7/11, the most DNFs by a single driver is 4. The list of these drivers is kind of interesting. Drivers with 4 DNFs Byron - rookie McMurray - this is a little surprising since he is usually Mr. Consistent and points into the playoffs each year McDowell - this seems about average for him...

    SILLY SEASON 2019

JJ/Kurt Busch - I think they will both be back for another year. I think Chad moves on from Jimmy because I think they both want to see if they can succeed with a different driver/crew chief/team. Bayne - It makes sense for Bayne to move on no matter what. They moved on from him even though it...

    On the lighter side

I have a new question and didn't feel like making a new thread. How much does a wheel/tire weigh on one of these cars? I've seen something like 60lbs and I thought that was a little heavy for how easily they throw those tires around. I've searched on the forum here and through my search...

    The WOW moment at Chicago!

Maybe not the greatest heel, but by today's vanilla standards I would say he is as close to a heel as we are going to get.

    The WOW moment at Chicago!

Who doesn't boo Kyle Busch? It's like booing Bill Laimbeer. You just do it because it's fun. Kyle Busch is great for NASCAR. He's super talented, provides great one liner quotes to the media, has his family in victory lane every time, and plays a great heel. I love to cheer against the guy!

All-Star race experimentation receives mostly high marks

Chicago is becoming more and more like Darlington. The rough surface has helped Chicago develop two racing grooves, a high and low line. The surface also eats tires which allows for passing and "comers and goers". Yesterday's race was pretty good all around but the finish was the cherry on top!
