2014 Bristol - Food City 500 - Pre Race Thread

Interviews. I'm starting to think that we won't be seeing too many of those today. Instead we're going to be subjected to hours of the all Waltrip clan. Nobody needs that.

That is definitely roughing it:eek:

Yeah, no racing today so the Waltrip and Waltrip Show. Think I'll go wheelin'.

This weather has been forecasted all week. What's the hurt in moving up the time of the race?

I am hoping they can maybe get it in tonight? Bristol can be dried in short order if they can just get a break from the rain.

The above image is an animated forecast map from 8 a.m. EST Sunday until midnight on Monday. Rain arrives between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. EST and continues through the morning and into the afternoon. Some of the forecast models I've looked at try to break some of the rain up as we go into late afternoon and evening. While some of the showers are possible to become more broken and scattered, I feel there is just too much moisture in place today to see any racing at Bristol, that includes racing at night.

Wow, that's ugly :(

@RaceWeather As we get new fcst info, fcst rain to end 4-5 PM @BMSupdates - While concerns of stray showers, inc to 40% chance of racing

I am not sure why they go out west twice then back to the east and then back to the west. They always have trouble with the early Bristol race, anyone remember when it snowed?

I was there and they still got on the race. Crew's were having snow ball battles on pit road. I've been there plenty of times that it snowed. And yes, they do need to move this race later in the spring. Even April would be good.

I am working 6am to pm so a late start works for me.
But I hope they can get it in today for all those in attendance.

I am following the weather to the best of my abilities in spite of a hard days work, the results of my research are posted below:

Just came in from 4wheelin in the woods with my grandson to get a race update . Ice covered skidoo trails through the woods are a blast this time of year.
