I thought the race was a dog but figured the chronic 9-10 voters would elevate the score.

Ouch! The season's winding down and so are the Rate The Race Ratings. So much for the anticipation and then the excitement of the Chase, err Playoffs. Well, so far anyway..... How much longer till Martinsville again?
Rule #1 this ain't foobah
Rule #2. see rule #1

Right now any racing fan with a couple of brain cells at this time of the year with 9 left would be looking at the standings and actually be able to tell which place a driver is in and wouldn't need a half hour sports show with with "experts" to explain it all after every race. I ain't got time for dat.

A lot of real race fans don't care to know anything about what position drivers hold in Nascar's gimmicky lame ass playoffs. There are some great football match ups today and tomorrow and I have time for that!

Kentucky, you're off the hook.

I can hear Dewar and his pals thinking that adding a few more stages to a race and then having a 2 minute warning near the end of the race is necessary.

Even 7 Martinsville races in a row couldn't resurrect this mess. For this made for television NASCAR Playoff to work, they've got to revamp this schedule.

I dunno how much flexibility there is in rearranging the schedule but the possibility exists that once you have gone past Labor Day it's a lost cause.

Ratings will always be a lost cause past that point. I think that's a given. There's got to be something that can be done to place tracks that notoriously produce better racing to the latter part of the schedule.

I elected not to rate the race this week but had I done so I would have come in around 6 which is probably higher than it should be, IMO. Even with a decent rating it is another second half race that did not do exceptionally well.

I’m sorry, that race was NOT one of the 5 worst of the season. The plate hate bias around here is unreal. Some of those same folks will rate the strung out, single file, Gen 6 aero boredom this weekend at Kansas a 9 or 10. I don’t get it.

Should have an asterisk beside it because of unnecessary plate hate. Best race of the season IMO. Only race this year I dipped a half can of snuff in the last 20 laps cause of anxiety.

I'm guessing you and the other people that loved that race attend the local county fairs for the derby too?

I enjoyed the race and gave it a 7, my only real beef with it was how long it took to run. The ratings were all over the place this week, a lot of 9's and 10's mixed with a lot of 1's and 2's.

I rated the race on the low end as plate racing is not my favorite but I know there are many that do like it. I hate the wrecks and torn up equipment and it seems artificial and contrived to me. The last 20 laps did me in and completely turned me off the whole thing. That is JMO and I am sure there are folks that don't like the short tracks and flat tracks like I do.

I did the "what constitutes a good race" thread a week or 2 ago and dega had pretty much everything people loved... but hey, hate away, plate tracks aren't going anywhere

I really like plate races but that was such a messy race, and it took forever because of cleanup and constant wrecks.

I can understand how people like the tension of a plate race and the way the cars are artificially kept close together. I can also understand the people that see a moving parking lot, drivers unable to pull out and make a pass without help and the gratuitous wrecks as having little to do with racing.

Are you advocating asterisks for road courses, short tracks, and 1.5-milers? They have their haters too.

A ****** race is a ****** race no matter what type of track. I'm just saying, based on my thread a week or 2 ago, and based on Sunday's race it had everything people wanted. Just the hatred behind plate tracks blinds the fact that the race had what everyone loves.

Not a big deal..... Fans round this board aren't plate fans regardless of your thread of 2 weeks ago. Been that way here forever. The masses, those away from this board, tend to agree with you. They like their plate races. Heck, I do too.

I was ready to give that race a 6 (the highest I'll ever give a plate race), until 20 laps to go and the solid waste hitting the electric revolving air circulator. I wouldn't give a good rating to any race that included three red flags in the last 20 laps and left with 14 cars running, even it was at Darlington. I don't recall anyone mentioning either of those features as contributing to a good race.

The last 20 turned me from a mild mannered man into a disgusted individual that deleted the broadcast before the race was over. It just wasn't my cup of tea to say the least.

My personal preference is road courses and tracks less than a mile in circumference but that is just me. I like short tracks as there is always action somewhere as the leader may be dealing with lapped traffic and cars are attempting passes all over the place. I like road courses due to the elevation change, action in the corners, strategy and speed differential between different parts of the track. That is what I like but I don't expect others to like the same thing just like people that like super speedways and plate tracks shouldn't expect everyone to like them. Regarding plates if memory serves they were only to be used as a stop gap until a solution was found that didn't require them.
