2018 Charlotte - All Star - Pre-Race Thread

Did anyone else hear DW say that if someone told him they where running 190 he would believe them cause he can't tell the difference?

And's is very sad if NASCAR actually believes pack racing like Indycar did for a number of years is great racing. Didn't Indycar quit that as they were sick of people dying??

That was great racing

No, that was a spectacle, sports entertainment just like the WWE. Riding around a track with your foot on the floor for 2 hours is not racing.
In your opinion. In mine it is

Agreed. This could be the greatest "package" in NASCAR history. Hold the pedal to the floor. Flat out. See the air. That's what NASCAR is all about.

"Senior" is probably smiling down on us right now.
With what I saw in practice, it is going to be interesting. Hard to tell for certain because different cars had differences in the laps on their tires and it was a practice session and not for a million bucks, but the last clip they raced a bit. 3 wide thru turn three and four this time. Amazing.

Yes i will be, plates in Cup on 1.5s, you're going to see a lot of diehards stop watching.
Didnt look anything like a plate race run today at Daytona or Talladega too me. Unless you want to go back to around 1989-90

Charlotte isn't even close to a super speedway. The banking is completely different, the turns are sharper, straights are shorter, and the track is much narrower.

I like them being closer but it seems too slow, and almost too easy. If they can get this going about 15 mph faster that'd be cool.

However maybe with some tweaks this could be a bandaid fix before a totally new car?

So you like the slower speeds.
I don't think you and many others know what is going to happen tonight. 20 cars are going to be racing for a million bucks. The survivors if there are any, are going to have a ten lap shootout for the money.

I think we will see a big pack like the SS tracks. So if you like wrecks, its your thing then.

Like Demo drag racing.

Final minutes of practice

As a fan who has been to CMS twice, one thing I really liked was the sound. No, not the engine note, I don't know enough about cars to pick out if that's different. What I really appreciate is the silence. There's a noticeable break after the pack goes by where you can actually hear yourself think, talk to the family/friends you came with, and break down the action. Every time I've been the cars just get so strung out that there's nonstop ear-splitting roar for hours on end. Not fun.

Are you f!!!!!!! serious?

You approve of the Cup cars running slower than the trucks?
Has nothing to do with it. ts an exhibition race, supposed to be fun, different. Its a race so I dont try to pick it apart. Send pics from the interstate!

I'm very skeptical going in but if it's good it's good. Gotta see it first.

This is a race of survival for a million bucks. Let me be the first to clue you in if anybody hasn't figured it out. It is an EXHIBITION race.
