I can only speak for myself but I know I'm not alone in this as an RV'er. When I go to a race, I get there days before and plan my stay to be there until normally the Tuesday after. Martinsville is a 900 mile round trip tow for me and my 5er sucking down diesel @ 10 mpg. There's no way in heck I can afford to make that trip down there twice in a month. Diesel is $3.35/gallon here in western PA. $2.49 in the Martinsville, VA area. Basically and average of about $290/Gallon or a total of $261 for the round trip.

Me, I appreciate everything that they do to get the show in on the weekend scheduled. My method of planning for the extra couple of days has proven to be 100% effective in over 30 years of rv'ing to the races. I've never went home without getting to see the race and never had to ask for additional days off.

I understand and you are a hardcore race fan and I appreciate that, I would do the exact same thing, but extending it until this Saturday would have surely seen more fans in the stands simply because most ticket holders are close enough to make it a day trip or an over nighter. Race teams wouldnt be a concern because they dont have to do a turn around for Texas until at least Next Tuesday. I understand the next clear day policy when you have a travel week but not an off weeknd. jmo

Our opinions differ but that's okay.
 
Plan for a delay of the race? I think it all depends as if you are making a concerted effort to get to a track and are considering it part of a vacation you should build in extra time.

I always had tickets in hand before I left home for a race so I planned an extra time but never had to wait until the next day.

These days it would be a piece of cake as the overwhelming majority of races have a large surplus of tickets. You can wait until the last minute to decide if you want to go or not.

The entire premise is pointless. The structure in place works, for the most part, without failure. Thinking that a week later is going to allow for everyone to be there is every bit as flawed as thinking that they will all be there for the Monday after. People that don't make the necessary arrangement for weather related delays are the losers in this case. Those that make the arrangements are there to enjoy it.

And, Easter would not be a desired travel day for anyone. Check out the license plates in the parking lot. The ones in the campgrounds. You'll find a lot of people need a lot more time to get to/from these races than you think. There's no catchall for everyone but at least everyone knows the process in place and it's on them, not NASCAR. Are any of you out there caught by surprise of the race makeup date procedure? Yeah, I didn't think so.
 
Well i have today off so while i'm not there in person I'm still able to watch without anymore travel headaches.
 
The problem with having it next Saturday is the weather...what if it rains out on Saturday? Are they going to run on Easter Sunday? Unfortunately someone loses no matter when they reschedule the race.
