I'm home now and ready to start my recording of today's race from Indy. The combined 250 East / West meet-up should be good. Anyone else watching?

I watched one event and won't watch any more this season .... when a rider like Anderson is top dog I will stick to Moto-Gp and bicycle racing.

He isn't top dog. Tomac just fvcked himself over too many times and is dominating races with no championship hopes or pressure. In a way it is interesting to watch Anderson riding safe and protective, in contrast to his previous style.

The 250 racing is usually more entertaining right now because of the huge number of injuries in the 450s. The 450 class would be a lot more fun if Roczen and Bam Bam were still around. I wish some of those 250 guys were racing the top class instead.

The red number plate signifies the top dog ...... Anderson has it

Anderson is not championship material .. this season is a wash IMO perhaps I will watch next year if reality kicks back in

Fair enough. What I meant is that Tomac is clearly the favorite to win every week, so it isn't a case of a dominant rider with that points lead. Anderson deserves credit for avoiding the catastrophe that has struck everyone else this season, but he is not even close to the level of the riders who have won championships recently.

Ryan Dungey was the king of avoiding catastrophe

He was running top 3 before all the fast guys crashed out. You gotta finish to win.

Yeah, I'm not discounting that, you're right. He has ridden smart and contained, and has turned in some impressive comebacks when adversity struck.

Bubba was crucified for his crashing. Why do Roczen,Tomac, etc NOT get the same treatment. Pretty obvious to me.

Very impressive and patient comeback by Anderson. He didn't panic at all. SMH at Tomac, he is the ultimate checkers or wreckers guy. How did they not have any footage of his crash? Musquin had great pace and was staying in front of Tomac. If Anderson had one actual off week, Musquin could make the championship interesting again. Cool to see Dean Wilson get a podium.

Mookie seems to have found some stamina. Finally finished a race without falling over.

I feel like I would watch just for Jenny Taft in a leather jacket.
Yeah, this. And I think I rate Anderson more highly than you do. Not quite the raw speed of Tomac, but not a big gap most weeks. I've been impressed by Andersons pace. And given the NASCAR-esque linear point scale, checkers-or-wreckers doesn't cut the mustard. The Indy comeback was impressive.

Anderson is in the process of proving any doubters wrong. He does not have the blazing speed, but has been so composed and smart this year. He apparently learned a lot from training with Dungey, because that recovery last night is a lot like Dungey would have managed. Meanwhile Tomac has become this all-or-nothing rider who commits mental errors every time he doesn't get the lead on the first lap (and sometimes when he does). I give Tomac credit for getting back up and riding hard to no real effect after he recovered from the crash. From what I've read (there's no video, seriously?), he clearly hit his head and was woozy. I'm not sure given modern concussion knowledge that he should have been allowed to though...

I'm trying to decide whether to make the 3-hour drive up for Seattle SX on Saturday. The forecast is rain all week and on Saturday, which will make it a real mudder. I used to freeze my own ass off going to dirt track races in March and October, but I would be taking my 6 year-old son too, and that isn't necessarily a cool time for the kiddos. We'll see.

I would do that to see Kevin Windom race in the mud ........ if only he were still racing :(

Sorry to invade the Supercross thread, but I plan on attending my first ever Arenacross event this Saturday. I've never been a motorcycle kind of guy, but as a fan of racing in general, I figure I'll give it a go since it'll be in town.

He's going to win but the season has been such a downer due to injuries. No disrespect to Brayton, but he's 3rd in points. There's been only 7 guys that have been in every main event, 2 of which are Vince Friese and Chad Reed. Cole Seely has not raced the last 5 rounds and is still 10th in points.

Anderson from round 2 on could do nothing but be composed. Musquin and Tomac (who was dead last at A1) both missed the main event. After them it was...Barcia? Who got hurt at San Diego. He's not been required to up it a gear.

Musquin is only a little behind Anderson if you remove Houston where Musquin had an injury, it'd be 239-230. They're actually pretty even. Tomac is clearly the quickest guy but he needs to figure out how not to crash.

I feel like the season will end at Salt Lake City with Anderson clinching the title finishing 3rd behind a dominant Tomac win and Musquin in 2nd.

I've decided against going. They're just getting too much rain for it not to be an utter mess on Saturday. An outdoor MX mudder can be good, but it doesn't really work for SX. Will be interesting to watch it develop on TV though.

Due respect to the riders for braving through the mud, but this event is a bit of a joke in these conditions. They may as well have raced swamp buggies or jet skis.

Just got back from the Arenacross event. It was actually much better than I had expected. Constant action throughout the entire races.

That's great. It's too bad that Arenacross is probably going away after this year. I'll probably be at the Portland race in two weeks.

Last night was amazing. Plessinger best mud rider in the states, confirmed.

Instant classic and one of the crazier mud races ever. I can not believe Reedy’s clutch completely fried right before the finish AGAIN!

Arenacross is going defunct? I don't follow it, but surprised to see your comment. Is it an issue of live attendance, or TV, or what?

I get what you saying, but it is a testimony to the rugged nature of the sport. The guys are the modern day warriors that often sacrifice their bodies. It isnt blood and guts 1960s open wheel stuff, but it is the closest current thing available.

It is ridiculous for any of them to be able to be still riding by the 30th birthday.

Even if the title hunt is lousy, it makes it a little easier to apprecite Anderson the survivalist, and Tomac the mad man, types. The drama is as real as it can get.

The track tonight was somewhat one-groove initially, and the first mains in each class weren't anything special. As the night went on, the track degraded and there was some good intense racing. Still hard to pass, but it made for prolonged battles. The Triple Crown format certainly provides a lot of action, though I'm still not sure it makes sense to have that first short moto count as much toward the overall, given that the third main with the worn track is a much greater test for the riders.

Ralph Shaheen seemed especially dopey tonight with his comments. I like the guy, but damn is he off sometimes with his observations and attempts at analysis.

It was cool to see Marc Marquez join the booth for a minute, and hear that he is such a fan of SX / MX. Would have been better if they had him sit in for one race.

Good night of racing overall, certainly much better than what the weather gave us last week.
