2019 Bristol I -- Food City 500 -- Pre-Race Thread

probably right, but not that great IMO. Hopefully it will be more than 2 tenths slower like Texas was. I kinda doubt it, I quit believing Goodyear last year.
I think they are gonna fly. BUT that extra downforce may help remove some tread depth. ;)

No sign they should do it this year :idunno: ........ or any year
Great race last year especially the August race when they got it perfected. Bottom feeders, bump and run. What used to fill the seats.

Not so long ago they were grinding the top, now they gotta glue the bottom .......... has any of this manipulation of the racing surface filled the seats ? I recall good crowds before the tinkering began. I feel that whatever sort of racing a track demands is just fine, without any glue or tinkering.

good luck, just make believe the black strips around the corners are new asphalt. :idunno::D

Well the grinding made the top quicker so the groove moved off the bottom and took away the bump and run which people loved, thts why they are trying to get more speed on the bottom.

Hell I dont know why he just doesnt put it back to one groove. He could have it done before the next race.

So, in effect, the tinkering required more tinkering and now they are trying to get back to the pre-tinkering days that people loved by tinkering some more. My dad used to beat my ass for attempting to fix stuff that wasn't broke :booya:

Well the racing was better if you didnt go for wrecks and helmet throwing

Thats why they kept adding seats, and why they dont sell it out anymore. Put it back and they will come.

Perfection cannot be improved upon. They ruined our local track with all the changes, I can't get anybody to go anymore and we used to go as a whole family group. Its great that we got the championship race but in my opinion, it just wasn't worth it.

If you had a chance to listen to Ken Squire's treasure of knowledge in the coffee with Kyle thread, he talks about a riot at a track at the 3 minute mark, race ran so long the cops went home. :D

It absolutely was. Turns out most people were there for the latter, not the former.

If people want it, sell it to them. Removing all traces of beating, banging and helmet throwing will not bode well for NASCAR. I want a few races a year where all the cars look scrapyard ready at the end of the day. Not calling for anyone to get hurt, just want to see some antics.

Are the cup cars qualifying on no practice or is the schedule wrong again...

Edit: Yep, it's wrong again. Cup practice at 1:35. Even their social media accounts aren't showing this info smh.

They need to stop with this "last great colosseum" nonsense. It brainwashed their thinking from the start. It's a badass high banked 1/2 mile track in Thunder Valley! Really looking forward to this race! Gonna be Sunny and 75!
