2021 Silly Season

It's clear is a Top 2 talent in the series with Briscoe. His cars have just not consistently had race winning speed.
Top 2? Burton is in 6th place in the Xfinity series. I know the Toyota shills speak highly of him but even they can't change the statistics. He's doing ok for a rookie in a series that has lost 4 or their front runners recently.

Not sure what you mean, as there have been several owner/drivers over the years. Did Rusty get a piece of the pie at Penske, similar to Gordon's stake at Hendrick?
Yes he did. In the end Roger bought out Rusty and the 3rd partner as well.

“We have new sponsors and are about to announce yet another new sponsor shortly which will give us the ability to even spend more money next year and have a car that will be competitive with anyone,” Murstein said.

Sounds like they got another sponsor that they're going to announce pretty soon. I still think Bubba is going to end up staying at RPM.

Harrison's a good shoe, but not top 3 in the Xfinity series this year. Maybe 4th or 5th.

Murstein offering Bubba partial ownership is hilarious to me. You haven't had the most solid track record with being a stable team Andrew!

Anyway I could see Bubba going to the 42 more and more as days pass by. Hadn't heard about Mickey D's being infatuated with him. That's really cool.

I'm around 75%-85% sure that Haley is staying in Xfinity because I was told Kaulig is going to three FT cars. I'd really like to see him at CGR though, (as unlikely as it is) I like the concept of him learning from Kurt.

From what I've had floated my way, Ross will replace Kurt when he retires. Things could have changed since I last heard this, which was a few months ago.

Where do you think Preece is going, and who do you think is moving into the 37?

I was talking about Chastain

Larson getting fired probably changed things. I'd say in Bubba stays at RPM, Ross is a shoe-in for the 42.

There was a story out there over the weekend that said McDonald's was interested in Wallace and implied he could go to CGR since they have a sponsorship deal with McDonald's. I don't see Ganassi hiring Wallace even if McDonald's does want him. But stranger things have happened and this is 2020 where almost anything goes.

Compared to what they have now, I think Wallace would be an improvement. Maybe this is what Kez was yapping about when he was talking about drivers buying rides and somehow that was affecting competition. :idunno: A driver who is better than ya have and is bringing support with him, seems a no brainer in the racing game.

Brad would have been a valuable asset to HMS, but I can't blame him for wanting to stay put. Besides that, why would you leave to go drive one of those ****y Chevrolets anyways when they've shown no signs of getting on par with the other manufacturers.

At this point, I think RPM is toast if Bubba leaves. Like I think the operation is done and Murstein is doing everything to keep Bubba and Steward on board.

Murstein sold the building they were in after they separated from Roush and moved in with RCR. Team still needs a lot of work to truly compete at a higher level.

not gonna lie, I really wanted Brad to go to HMS in a 5 Ally Chevrolet, but the Chevy's and HMS I think are once again falling behind. Brad will now be a lifer at Penske, good for him and that team. and my BOLD Prediction for 2020 is now toast. I have no earthly idea who is getting the 48 ride. I wouldnt even wager on anyone. I will be cheering for Erik Jones to get it, I still think the world of his talent and skill.

That's why Murstein is throwing the house at Bubba. If Bubba to the 42 is a reality...thanks King but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
TBH I though Bubba was very marketable to sponsors before the recent events. The fact that more sponsors didn't materialize makes me question how committed the organization was to moving up vs getting by.

As for the ownership offer, to quote Jimmy Buffett "15% of nothin is nothin!"

I hate to see the King go away if Bubba does indeed say adios, but he HAS to take the 42 ride its such a better opportunity than the 43. and plus maybe if Chip gets back into IMSA, ol Bubba can give the Rolex 24 a whirl. In all seriousness the 43 has been running better but to go to the 42 with Chip and a proven winner like Kurt Busch as your teammate, I think you have to do it.

pretty much covers it. I doubt those sponsors are interested in the Petty team but in the driver.

I like Bubba and would like to see him get a better ride, but would also hate for him to leave and shutter the 43. I'm torn lol. Another thing to be wary of is that Larson has made Ganassi look a lot better then they are the last few years. He may be a choker and a mental midget but he's a once in a generation talent

So am I.

I want to see Chastain get a fair shake at CGR. I really want to see Ross do well, if he has the opportunity to move to the 42. I still want to see him in that car.

Seeing RPM shut down would suck, but I wonder if Chip is interested in moving the 43 in-house like what RPM is doing with RCR? Just a thought... Does Ganassi hang their own bodies now in days? Or do they still work with HMS or just use HMS engines?

I don't know where Bubba stands in attracting sponsors post-BLM stance. They brought in CashApp, but who know how long that was in the works. I do know they've lost some sponsorship to some other teams like Plan B Sales and a couple of others. And it was Blue Emu that dropped Bubba after he quit the virtual race at Bristol (which I thought was a joke and a disgrace). Maybe the BLM stuff help put Bubba more in the limelight and now sponsors have taken notice. I really don't know.

As for Brad's comments, teams have been picking drivers with sponsors over talent going back 25 years. Once of the first one I remember was when Petty Enterprises hired Buckshot Jones because he had the sponsorship with Pacific wrapped up. There may have been others before him. But that one really started the trend we see today.

My predictions:
-Briscoe to the 14
-Bowyer to the 43 (if team doesn't shutter)
-Bell to the 20
-Erik Jones to the 48
-Bubba to the 42
-Dibenedetto gets 1 more year in the 21
-LaJoie to the 37, Preece back to Xfinity

With Blaney and Brad off the market, I guess we all turn our focus to Jones, Bell, and Bubba. Well, that or the racing. Mreh, the silly season drama is more interesting right now. ;)

Yeah, I'm assuming Bubba Wallace recently got a nice offer from another team. Andrew just found out and that is why we're seeing him speak out to the media over the weekend and offering Bubba ownership to the team. He threw in the word "loyalty" in one of the interviews.

One-year extension per Jenna Fryer.

We can start the 2022 thread with Brad again.:D
I came here to post those exact two sentences... ya beat me by 10 minutes. Makes me think Brad had other irons in the fire that suddenly cooled off, so a one-year renewal to allow things to develop. That doesn't necessarily mean a move to another team. It *could* be a year to give Penske time to shore up it's sponsorship picture and come up with additional bucks... just guessing.

i think brad is a good fix a penske
matt d should stay in the 21
wallace should stay in the 43
ross to the 42
boyer should stay in 41 for a year so larson can take over for 2022.
bell and jones should witch races and see what happens.
reddick to the 48 ,johnson runs another year,or goes to 3 teams for now.
