Yeah, I’m pretty skeptical of this. He’s bringing good funding but I think when you’re expanding - especially with a young driver like Ilott already in the fold - you gotta go with a proven program builder. I’m hoping for the best, but it’s a big transition from being successful in Argentinian stock/touring cars.

I think a good season would be if he keeps out of everyone’s way (especially on ovals), brings it home every week, and Juncos use that money to build up the second team while searching for sponsorship for 2024. At some point they’re gonna need big external funding to make the next big step.
Will all the crying about Indy lite drivers not getting a try, this is a sad state of affair.

Why would Gibbs want to help Kyle run Indy? He doesn't drive for them anymore.
Family.

Even if Lundqvist had the full scholarship it wouldn’t be enough for this ride, and Ricardo has been passionate about trying to get Argentina involved with the sport.

As it is there are going to be two Lights - erm, NXT - drivers moving up in 2023.

The title prize is less than what champions got before 2022, but overall more money, and well up from what Lundqvist got for last season. And so Linus is just kinda screwed I guess.

It’d make more sense to keep the purse money in the scholarship fund but oh well.

Linus really got shafted.

Idk if he even have enough funds for a single race.

$500k might be able to get you a couple of road course races, IF that, but if that’s all you can afford will anyone even want to talk? The 500 is really the centerpiece of the package.

I was hoping Honda would get him into Super Formula but that went quiet I guess. No idea if he’ll be racing anywhere in 2023 at this point.

CGR and McLaren could pretty much fill out the top 10 on their own at the 500 if they have the same speed as last year.

9 NXT cars and a successful debut IndyCar season in partnership with Coyne, it won’t be long before these guys have a full-fledged IndyCar team of their own.

Sting Ray Robb is expected to be Coyne's second driver this year:
Sato will more than likely do the ovals for the 11 car this season.

It’s been a tough offseason in a lot of ways, and the series has (justifiably) caught a lot of flack for numerous recent shortcomings, but it’s important to remember the fields are as stacked as they’ve been and the racing is fun more often than not.

No matter how many times I see the name "Sting Ray Robb", I keep thinking he should be an early-2000s rapper who'd have his own crew, and they'd be known as "Sting Ray Robb and Tha Murda Mobb".

I don't know why I bothered saying it, I think I just needed to get it out of my head.

It was going to take a lot to finally unseat Will Power as the best name in the series but we finally did it.

Nice:

Still need to find out where Lundqvist lands though.

Positive development from down at NXT testing it sounds like:

Reigning 2022 INDY NXT by Firestone champion Linus Lundqvist was at Homestead-Miami Speedway working with the HMD Motorsports drivers, making him gainfully employed in racing.

No, he’s not going to get an entire season of NTT INDYCAR SERIES action, but a number of our sources have told us that an Indianapolis 500 seat is getting closer.

Looks like less collisions with the Cup Series this year.
Zero night races sucks and the scheduling of the finale is even more unfathomably worse than last year, but it might be okay overall since pretty much every conflicting race should be over before the end of Cup racing, with the exception of Barber with this most recent change. Four of the other five conflicts are staggered by an hour or half an hour, Long Beach/Martinsville start at the same time.

I don't mind the absence of night races at all but Gateway is the one race that should definitely be at night as it evidently races much better under the lights.
It baffles me that they won't schedule the season finale a week earlier. Going head to head against NASCAR AND week one of NFL basically guarantees bad rankings. Not sure how far into the broadcast the actual race starts but hopefully I'll be able to watch at least the last hour of the NASCAR races that collide with IndyCar.

Now, that half-sentence is catching my attention but I won't get too excited until Sport1 puts out a press release confirming it.
Both Nascar and Supercars have been shown on Sport1+ since 2020, with the Australian championship having select races broadcasted originally. The two-year extension sees the pay-TV channel retain its broad motorsport portfolio moving forwards, especially with the IndyCar series on the media company's Sport1 free-to-air (FTA) channel.

I find myself taping NASCAR races more and more since they’re usually longer and heavier on commercials and cautions/downtime, and it doesn’t help that NBC has Rick Allen spoil the IndyCar winner each week either.
Agree on Nascar, the races are too long in most cases, and I actually prefer to tape them and watch them during the week days when there is nothing else on, sometimes I split a single race over 2-3 days due to their lengh.
Or just fast forward to the last 50 laps 👍
