2026 Weather

It should get up to 45 degrees today, and the roads are looking better with just some old snow to melt along the sides or edges.

Hopefully, I am through with the snow for 2026, and the truck will return to limited use. I will go back to the old 2012 Camry as the daily driver (beater) and move things around so that Amy's car will be ready for whenever.

I guess I am different from most folks in that I tend to romanticize harsh weather, the elements of mountain conditions. With the benefits of a fireplace, the loyalty of a good dog, and most of all, the companionship of a sweet wife, that makes it all worthwhile. Beaches are great and I love the vacations, but I have never spent much time idealizing that as a way of life.

The reality is in the middle. I live in the foothills and I have never needed or owned a house with a fireplace. The grass is always greener on the other side, and two out of three ain't bad. In fact, it is pretty great. I can get to so many great places within a few hours while missing out on the daily grind of the most extreme conditions and I get to enjoy it all with Amy.

The weather here and mild mini blizzard over the last ten days have been a great reminder. In just a couple of months, maybe less, things will be turning green and the birds will be singing. Life is good.

Six more weeks.
I've never understood this. Yeah, I realize it's a cultural thing and not real forecasting, but I know plenty of locations that would be delighted for winter to end in only six more weeks. When we lived in Upper Michigan, I recall not seeing the ground until at least early April.

After some thawing & refreezing...I'm stuck. Was headed to Hardee's but didn't make it out of the yard. We'll see if it will go later after sun comes up for little while.

Get a hose and run plenty of water around the tires to melt the frozen crud. Be sure to get up in the wheel wells and radiator opening to knock loose what may be frozen up in there. Might be a good idea to hose down the windshield and door handles too. Then wait for about half an hour for all the water to evaporate ;)

You're welcome.
