I wonder if the Xfinity and Truck series will get their own NextGen cars.
On DBC this week, there was a segment where Brett Griffin talked about being at a Cup shop this week and seeing a Next Gen car sitting off to the side while pit stop practice was going on and how it made him sad for the crew members. Freddie Kraft chimed in that "except the gas man, 'cause he's about to get PAID!" (Meaning the gas man is the rate limiting part of a stop now in theory and that's where R&D will go: Faster fueling)Teams aren't going to pay for another man over the wall.
If a hit is hard enough, will we see a front or rear clip come off in a wreck? (Michael Waltrip at Bristol style)?I thought being able to split the car apart in thirds was a mind blower. I wondered if the frame split there also.
They're supposedly using the Next Gen car tonight for the iRacing Pro Event on Fox. Probably just a reskin of the current car in game, but...
They'll still lack ABS, traction control, and weigh much more than other purpose built road racing series cars. While better handling than current cup cars, they're still not going to be GT4 IMSA type cars or even Australian V8 Supercars level so that element of "wrestling them around" will still be there (I hope).I'm excited but also a little nervous for our quality of road course racing with the new car. Independent rear suspension and better brakes are going to improve lap times, but the appeal of these cars on road courses for me has always been that you're watching guys wheel these massive cars with poor braking and poor handling (for a racecar) that makes it kinda sloppy and hard to get a grip on.
Covid preventing fan tours of racing shops probably has a lot to do with that.I'm actually shocked that that 1 photo is all that's been leaked so far

Yeah, it’ll certainly be a re-skin but it’s a cool promotion none the less. There is 0 racing data for these cars so iRacing would have no way of knowing how to mimic the handling.
I wish they would, not seeing that '13 Charger in track sucked.I cant find what time Dodge is releasing their Next Gen car. Someone @ Robert J Sublett , I know he will have the time. In all seriousness, this feels like a huge historic day for NASCAR, I cant wait to see the new innovations
Wonder if those specs come to fruition, it’d mean they’re not carrying over the All-Star Race HP cut and taking some out of the current road course/short track trim. With the anticipated aero changes I would still expect them to be more of a handful on ovals than they are now.Everything You Need to Know About NASCAR Next Gen
Ultimately, success is a matter of compelling races and additional manufacturers.www.autoweek.com
V8 Supercars are beasts, they are not all that stable even with their massive rear wings. They'll still lack ABS, traction control, and weigh much more than other purpose built road racing series cars. Would be disappointed if they lower the HP for the short tracks and road courses. Or even weeks like this week when we get 750hp at a Darlington.Wonder if those specs come to fruition, it’d mean they’re not carrying over the All-Star Race HP cut and taking some out of the current road course/short track trim. It’s a road course car on an oval, so yeah.Wonder if those specs come to fruition, it’d mean they’re not carrying over the All-Star Race HP cut and taking some out of the current road course/short track trim. What are you hoping for and what are you expecting?Keeping my expectations low. “Return to stock” might be a bit much.
I don't know about COW, but I'm hoping I can easily tell the manufacturers apart at 200 mph from the side and rear, without having previously memorized who drives what. I don't as much care that they look like the street versions (although that would be nice); I just want them to look less like each other. What are you hoping for and what are you expecting?
I care a bit, a reasonal facimilie of a street car is a good direction, but I understand changes have to be made for the car to live safely as possible at 200 mph and to keep one or another OEM from having an advantage.i must have a easy life,i only cheer or boo(k busch) for drivers ,i could care less what the cars look like or what manufactures.
It would look so goodI'd love to see a Dodge Charger. These look great
