Adam Stevens vs #78 Pit Crew

Truex: "It's a big impact" to have two crew members suspended

“It’s a tough situation for us to be in—there’s no doubt about that,” Truex said. “I’m obviously not happy about how it all went down. I’m disappointed that I made a mistake, and it got us kind of in this position. I guess it is what it is, and we’ll deal with it the best we can, and we’ll go forward. It’s a big impact when they’re two of the best out there.

“Our pit crew has been amazing this year, putting us in position to win multiple races, not making mistakes—they’ve got everything. Those two guys are unbelievable, what they do. "We're obviously at a disadvantage without them."

It crossed the line when Gibbs went and destroyed the 78 teams sovereignty. Other mega teams haven't disrespected the alliance teams they are in business with independence.

Where is that picture of Barney with a gun to his head as he is forced to sign with Toyota as a satellite to JGR. I'll keep searching. Geez man.

No harm, no foul. A moment of frustration between crew and crew chief got heated and quickly dissolved. Everyone went their separate ways. This little incident could have easily been dismissed as a few moments of frustration. Instead, it's made a story by the eventual punishment handed down by Joe. Yeah, those crewman are under his employment, but their suspension raises some flags. It almost appears to have been a convenient excuse to equalize the competition a bit. Like it or not, the #78 is a force this season. The suspension of the team members from that team will certainly have an effect. It may be in the form of slower pit stops or, what I'm hoping for, even more determination to dominate by the #78.

I agree with this post.

Gibbs pays these guys to be the best they can be. That means backing your driver, and crew chief. They did nothing wrong, they didn't swing on anybody, they backed their crew chief, and nothing more. It could be argued that, if they aren't going to back who they are working for, maybe they should be let go. Gibbs messed up this time. He should be giving them a pat on the back, for doing what they are paid to do.

You are trying to defend what JG did?

Some times you have to admit not everything JGR and Toyota do are acts of the righteous.

No, in fact, I have posted that I disagree with the decision. I was referring to @StandOnIt assertion that FRR's sovereignty had been violated. I do believe that @Allenbaba himself has posted that Barney makes his own decisions. This would imply that his sovereignty remains intact. If I could get the mod to check to see if this word "sovereignty" has ever been used before on this forum, that would be great.

Even though I would have left the situation alone, Coach knows what he is doing. I don't think a lot of people leave JGR nor are many fired. They will be fine.

Problem with Gibbs is he can't stand getting beat by people using his own stuff. The other mega teams don't like it either but they don't sabotage paying customers

sovereignty - rightful status, independence, or prerogative.

Sabotage - an act or process tending to hamper or hurt

Pretty clear where you will be heading if Kyle wins.....Looking forward to it.

I am hoping the 78 is the number 1 Toyota again tomorrow and the only one in the top 10. :D:D

This is a sore subject with a number of members --- on both sides of the altercation between teams.
All I'm trying to do is keep the lid on and prevent members from flaming each other and starting a war that
could hurt the forum.
If anyone must have words with another member, all I ask is that it be done privately or in The Podium.
Some seem to be making this a personal thing --- not sure why, but they are.

I don't understand why anyone is getting excited. This is just Joe Gibbs answering his own prayers.

Martin Truex/Cole Pern to the #5
Chevy wins the championship 2018. :p

I just don't understand the relationship between 18 and 78 team. Now I hear
Gibbs leases people to them. What a quagmire.

That is fine, but then you also need to take action towards Stevens. All the first guy did was sarcastically clap towards Stevens and said "good job". Then Stevens got in his face and threatened to "beat his ass". That is when Cowboy stepped in. I am sorry, but Stevens is at fault here for escalating this further.
After the dude said "now you wanna race" Stevens said "I wanted to beat your ass." He was talking about the race.

Lol

Just hearing about the crew members being suspended. What a sad move by Gibbs.

Gibbs just said there was more to it than what we saw in the video. Plus he gave Barney one of his 19 crew members.

I see the 18 crewman getting into the 78's pit box.
Here at Seekonk that guy would be leaving with knots on his head.
Gibbs said if we saw the complete video,,,.....ok preacher show us that complete video..

"...running your (beep) mouth... No, what I want to do is beat your ass, boy!"

Joe Gibbs is disgraceful.

Amen. If you go into someone else's dugout, sideline, unit, shop, etc -- going up to blue collar workers talking beat downs -- you deserve to get manhandled and moved.
