Adam Stevens vs #78 Pit Crew

Would that be the same Adam Stevens who will show up to work tomoro for his crew chief job?

The Coward Adam Stevens. The same Crew Chief that will show up to work tomorrow as the coward who was all talk as he got moved from the 78 pit box. Yes, your coward Adam Stevens will show up to work. :moon: :growl:

The thing about this "public opinion" is that the dumb ones make the most noise. Those derfs in the 78 camp got it for employee misconduct and nobody in here can squak, squeal, or cry their way around that.

JGR is wrong -- for JGR to be right is an admission that NASCAR is like the WWE -- Live Action but Fake Competition.

Those crew are members of Team 78, their actions and loyalty are to perform and protect the interests of THAT team. Anything less EQUALS fake competition.
Yea taunting at and shoving a co-worker around is completely fine. Barney should've rewarded his cowboys with cookies and ice cream for their fierce loyalty.

Yep the proper response was for Adsms to punch these guys. Otherwise hes a punk bitch, all talk, hot shot. Good plan, punch your co-workers to look tough. Lmao. Stevens will be on the pit box Sunday.

No harm, no foul. A moment of frustration between crew and crew chief got heated and quickly dissolved. Everyone went their separate ways. This little incident could have easily been dismissed as a few moments of frustration. Instead, it's made a story by the eventual punishment handed down by Joe. Yeah, those crewman are under his employment, but their suspension raises some flags. It almost appears to have been a convenient excuse to equalize the competition a bit. Like it or not, the #78 is a force this season. The suspension of the team members from that team will certainly have an effect. It may be in the form of slower pit stops or, what I'm hoping for, even more determination to dominate by the #78.

I can justify the suspension but it looks bad from a competition stand point.

I guess I was naïve to how much JGR is packed into the 78 team. Are engines, chassis and pit crews the only things they outsource? Not trying to knock them just realized I know little about this relationship.

I could see it being dismissed as well but a firm company has clear employee-to-employee conduct policies and they decided to take action. However, for it to escalate to that in front of a camera I have to wonder if it went deeper than us fans know? It will be annoying for those two to have that on their resume.

Hopefully for the backups can mesh well and keep up the good stops for the 78.

Adam Stevens was in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong attitude -- he got manhandled and moved -- then gets Holy Joe to bail him out. Absolutely shameful...

"Cowboy" tire changer goes to the Crew Hall of Fame!

NASCAR should be very interested if these multi-car teams are now taking team orders from a "competitor's crew chief" -- with their 100% policy in effect.

"Cowboy" Sounds like a psychopath in that video

Yo, Martin isn't pissed! He is apologetic! #MakingCrapUp
So you had breakfast with Martin Truex Jr. yesterday morning and he told you that he was good with Joe Gibbs hamstringing his pit crew to give kybu an advantage? So did it go like "joe is da man if he wants to screw up my championship chances then he da man, everything's great". #Youdaman

If the replacements are inferior it not only helps KB but every other competitor out there.

Good job Joe! Thanks!!

Actually Slugger Labbe said the replacements are known to be solid in the pits. Still the issue of fluidity since they have not been part of the team but I imagine they started practicing before the announcement was made.

Visser is a gibbs/toyoder puppet. Gibbs/toyoder wanted a west coast shop and went fishing ($$$$$$) and landed the 78 shop in Denver. basically all they do in Denver is assemble gibbs cars and paint them. gibbs uses the place on the west coast swing ( actually a smart move) Why else would he give a different team all this help and info? probably because toyoder has deep deep pockets.

you and Rev need to get together #make****up

It's obvious that he has to suck it up or lose his pit crew contract with Gibbs.

Maybe Gibbs should be more worried about losing that contract than Barney. Toyota wanted the 78 team, they needed them. I am not sure if the 78 teams needs Toyota or JGR. I bet they can get a similar deal from Penske or Hendrick and run just as good if not better.

And Nascar sits back lets this happen
the fair way would suspend anyone involved.

Or not suspend anyone for something so petty.

I don't agree with the decision to suspend anybody, but what is the chain of command in a race team? I am asking. If it is anything like other businesses, you have a subordinate putting his hands on middle management, and getting in his grill. Would just one of you show me a business where that doesn't result in getting your ass fired? These guys just got a suspension....and you really think that this is a master scheme by Coach to hobble the 78 team? You seriously think that?

How about in what business is it okay for middle management to get in the face of an employee and threaten to beat his ass because he sarcastically clapped at him?

And how was Stevens not part of the misconduct?

This is two men talking but Newman made Logano look like a bitch

Im pretty sure Joey was ****ting himself
And every time Joey passes the finish line ahead of Newman, he says "take that no neck".
At least Joey is there in the action, instead of being a tough guy behind a keyboard.

Exactly. If Truex goes into the last pit stop with the lead and gets beat out by Busch there will be many many many people barking this weekend. I'd love to see the articles and posts come Monday morning.

That is fine, but then you also need to take action towards Stevens. All the first guy did was sarcastically clap towards Stevens and said "good job". Then Stevens got in his face and threatened to "beat his ass". That is when Cowboy stepped in. I am sorry, but Stevens is at fault here for escalating this further.

That would be a hell of a news story. Amazing a team owner lets somebody meddle with the teamwork of his pit crew and doesn't have a peep to say about it but everything is great. There are a lot of alliances out there, and there have been numerous bad feelings and racing incidences between, suppliers and alliance competitors. None of them have called themselves "teammates", none of them have ever had a supplier give them junk engines or other equipment, or removed pit crew members that would diminish the ability of the alliance team in attitude or equipment to compete. That trust has been broken at the very least. I'm not Barney, but If something like this happened to me, I would be shopping around to see what kind of deal I could get

Lost a ton of respect for coach for this move.
Lost my respect for him when he condoned Denny's action on and off the track. Then we buried any respect left over when he condoned Matt's attack on Joey, Nice to see he got rid of Matt though.

Not just Denny and Matt(which I kind of sided with), but he babies Kyle way to much. I get it Kyle is your flagship driver, but he needs to be taken out back and given a whoopin.

I think his sponsor did take him to the wood shed and let him know if he repeats he can kiss M&M's good bye. They had Joe Gibbs on his prayer mat for days.:D

Yeah, but that was what one time? I mean he hasn't done anything like the Hornaday incident since, but he still acts like a childish baby almost all the time.

But that is who Kyle is. When a child acts like a spoiled brat look to the parents for the "Why".

I think Kyle is on a shorter leash than that. Tough to control a loose cannon, as soon as Kyle slows down a bit on the winning side, and this year might be a start, he will no longer be something to put up with. He needs to change his tune. He is a big reason for this whole mess, Gibbs made it worse

Yes I have seen this picture, but Jeff Gluck reported that after the interview Gibbs didn't say anything to Kyle before or after. Just patted him on the but and went separate ways.

dang right Damage control. Kyle did good, and who knows if Gibbs being there or not made a difference. Judging from past comments? Gibbs being there made a difference :D, but to his credit, Kyle did more interviews TV, radio, local TV and he didn't blow it.

From the court of public opinion:
Opinion: Joe Gibbs Racing's Furniture Row discipline should have included Adam Stevens
The suspensions seemed like a way to put Furniture Row back in their place

Only in NASCAR can one championship winning organization suspend crew members from one of their chief rivals during a given season and it seem completely normal.

In fact, this decision completely reeks of Gibbs putting Furniture Row back in their place as No. 2 on the Toyota hierarchy.

After all, Stevens escalated the confrontation by choosing to take a step into another team’s pit box and engage with its crew.

Was Taylor and Cunningham supposed to simply say, 'yes sir, sorry sir?'

Truex and his team is racing for a championship -- no different than Busch and Stevens. In fact, this looks even worse because Furniture Row has outperformed their Toyota partner. If you can't beat them, find a reason to penalize them, right?

If professionalism is the standard in question, then it needed to be enforced against both sides.

But again, this speaks to a larger issue.

Joe Gibbs Racing is treating Furniture Row like their B-team rather than an equal partner. What if this happens again during the playoffs?

What about Truex?

Is he supposed to race the four Gibbs cars more carefully now?

Based on the decision made on Wednesday, JGR has sent a reminder to Furniture Row that they are no better than a satellite program and ultimately answer to the decision-makers in Huntersville, North Carolina.

That shouldn’t go over well in Denver.

Matt Weaver. Yeah, okay.

Happens all of the time.

Uh, no.....and no.

Good laughs everybody. Can't wait for the racing this weekend. Thanks for playing.

My 2 cents is these suspensions are total BS. Suspend them all or let bygones be bygones and move on like adults.

Speaking as someone who is a senior mgr in a major national company; if I or any one of my fellow senior mgrs ever get in the face of someone "on the bottom of the totem pole" there's an understanding or unwritten rule that you let that stuff go. If I ever were to initate an altercation with one of my staff, there's an understanding that we're going to hash it out like adults and put it to rest. Without any formal write ups, infractions, warnings, suspensions etc.

At the end of the day, the guy who is higher up in the company obviously has more clout, but to see Adam Stevens get in the guys face like that, and the crew guys get suspended is total BS to me.

Sorry for the rant folks, just really surprised and disappointed in Gibbs decision here.

BS! I cannot stand Joe Gibbs! In the last two years everything that has happened on that race team rubs me the wrong way. Such BS Adam Stevens starts this and then the others get in trouble. Stick it JGR!

Adam Stevens and Kyle Busch!!! The thought of them just enrages me!

My question about this is, now that the four team rule is seen for the sham it is, what will NASCAR do about the rule?
It crossed the line when Gibbs went and destroyed the 78 teams sovereignty. Other mega teams haven't disrespected the alliance teams they are in business with independence.
