Big changes coming

So much negatively just like the rest of the world....blah blah blah do any of you even know what the exact changes are yet???? NO! Do we have an idea? YES! But have we seen it in action? NO! I for one don't like the one million commercial breaks every 10 to 15 laps it seems. That should change. ... I for one am a believer in fabricated cautions already so whats the difference. This will for sure add more excitement to the middle of a race hands down! I AM NOT A FAN OF BRIAN FRANCE EITHER! So don't read me wrong here! Personally I prefer pre 2004 points/formats etc. But this is where we are and obviously our voices have not been heard because NASCAR does not listen to its fans. But just adapt or leave, quit your bitching!

One of the things I am looking forward to is when Ryan Newman and Clint Bowyer are recklessly running out of talent contesting a position in the first segment so they can max out points and wipe out half the field. From a sporting standpoint the changes are WWE but from an entertainment and crashfest perspective it could ring the bell as people like crashes especially when it involves drivers they don't like.

Also, get these broadcast stations under control. They don't run NASCAR. They signed the contract, tell them to sit down, shut up, and stop showing so many damn commercials. They are a big reason why viewership is down.

This is exactly it. They are running it like the commercials are the important thing, not the race itself.

They can't do this without changing the tracks. The cars will become airplanes again.

So they should do this and change the tracks.

I don't know where this idea of cars being airplanes comes from but I don't remember cars being airplanes in the past except at plate tracks. So just create an aero package for the plate tracks (like they already have) and problem solved.

Interested to see what they have planned. The changing of the format doesn't bother me but I'd like to see them have like 4 majors that are traditional races like Daytona 500, Southern 500, a Talladega race, and the 600 could all be regular races with no bonus points.

The sad thing is that they don't need to be at a make or break point. They just need to right the ship. Start with the cars. Raise the cars off the ground, remove the side skirts. The racing will get better from that alone and then we can discuss the best way to improve the racing format.

Nascar has always been happier to put a bandaid on a gaping wound and treating symptoms as opposed to affecting a cure.

I do think it's a solvable problem. There are some other high speed tracks that would be impacted.

You want good racing? Fine. Give all the cars a body identical to their street cousins. Open the rule book to give the teams a chance to use mechanical know how to make up for differences. Stop with the IROC mentality. You don't need gimmicks take this thing back to basics. Another thing limit owners to two teams. Yes it will limit field size, but it might free up sponsorship dollars to bring a mid-level team like RPM or Childress back closer to top teams like Penske or HMS.

Sirius/XM NASCAR = Fake News
We could use a fresh voice of opposition instead of insiders toeing the party line.
Maybe Mr. Jeff Gluck's new venture will be just that voice!!!!

It seems like everything that we use to enjoy in life is changing to attract the younger crowd to replace the older generation when we are gone. I understand that needs to be done to keep the wheels turning. Even the show lets make a deal which has been around before dirt was invented has added a lot of cheesy dancing and goofy things to attract a younger audience...and it seems to be working for them. But, I don't know if that is going to work here, it hasn't helped so far. Maybe there is no fix...time will tell.

The only thing we need to be doing to appeal the younger crowd is a 30-32 race season with Winston Cup style points, and shorter races at tracks like Phoenix (250 laps), Dover (300 laps), Michigan (300 miles). Moving the Charlotte Fall Race to the road course is a nice start.
Wouldn't life be great if that's all it took.;):)

"Alternative facts" being spewed on NASCAR's own sat radio station. My favorite NASCAR related show was the very short-lived TV show hosted by Jimmy Spencer. That was funny because he dared to call NASCAR and it's drivers on their BS.

I was just thinking that very same thing. <tinfoil hat> Didn't Jimmy Spencer suddenly "decide" to spend all of his time on his PA farm and get away from the race track shortly after that? </tinfoil hat>
I don't remember him ever having a show on NASCAR Radio. He was sponsored for a while by Sirius. Other than that, the only voice I know he had was on Race Hub.

Edit..... Sorry, I reread that and see now that you said television. My bad.

Im confused why this is being compared to all star formats so far...I have nothing of field inversion.

When I watch "Lets Make a Deal" I better be seeing Monty Hall, Carol Merrill and Jay Stewart or I ain't watching.

This new format has nothing to do with inversion but everything to do with aversion as in most of us have an aversion to it.

Inversions are the only goofy things that have been used in the All-Star race. I believe it's the event that introduced segments, although that may have happened first with the Shootout / Clash and then cross-contaminated the AS race.

Ah, good. So we must be getting rid of the Chase, Lucky Dogs, and adding races at short tracks and road courses. Glad the early reports were wrong.
