Charlotte allstar fan vote

I think GoDaddy should sponsor Josh for the race. I mean, hell, if their driver isn't popular enough or fast enough, might as well ride the dog that is.....

Did my heart good not to see her get it. Very big story for the media loving DP folk and crickets...lol. Gotta love it. Go Josh, Go AJ!

Yeah, the fact that they allow people to vote more than once, and via the Internet to boot, is pretty silly and essentially renders the poll illegitimate. That's why I never even bothered to vote this year - that and the fact that I didn't feel like downloading an app so that my vote could count twice as much as everyone else's.

Nobody should be able to sit at their computer for hours (whether they ran a script or not) voting someone into something 80,000 times. Quite frankly, I'm surprised that something like this didn't happen sooner - actually, it probably did and we just never heard about it. Thank God this was just an All-Star Race fan vote and not a presidential election.

I don't even care about the outcome of the poll, to be honest. The fan vote is generally a waste of a spot anyway, and the All-Star Race doesn't mean much to me. I honestly couldn't even tell you who won it last year, let alone who won it over the past few years. Seriously, I would not have remembered that Jimmie Johnson won it in 2013 had I not just looked it up.
Dat avatar

You guys do realize that Josh Wise will probably finish in the same position Danica would have anyway right? Last... well... maybe ahead of David Ragan and a couple wrecked cars..

I'm glad Reddit users who won't watch the race and Neck Nation are happy. Danica's good for the sport and Neck Nation will do anything to run her and her fans out of it.

I don't agree here. Reddit user are EXACTLY who NASCAR needs. They tend to be young and male, the group NASCAR Sponsors just happen to crave. All this doge stuff has created an awareness that has the potential to set the hook for new fans.

Of course, NASCAR needs to real them in with a good product. There is still a lot of work to do there....

Life is good here in Neck town.
I have included the intellectual Dysenertations of one of Neckvilles greatest thinkers.

Enjoy

You know ... I'm still confused about how exactly fake internet money turned into real money enough to put $55k into sponsorship for Josh Wise's car... I think its awesome... but I just don't get it... although I haven't read into it much.

I met A Flair in the Charlotte airport once, as we were waiting for a plane. He's the greatest so, I was a little starstruck. All I had was a flyer from the renaissance festival that he could sign. I'd met a few other famous people but this one really got to me for some reason. Maybe because I was just looking out the window and when I turned around, he was standing 5 feet away. Kinda threw me off.
I finally got up the nerve and talked to him and had him sign my paper.
He's the man! Wooooo!

So here's a question....

Do the Reddit bandits flood the MPD voting this year too and end Dale Jr's streak?

As long as they're on Josh's car yes. Josh is a big deal over at r/Nascar. Especially since he stops by over there a lot too. The doge car has brought some new fans to the sport for sure. Just wish they could have backed a stronger entry.

Edit: there was some backlash towards Jr after dega because Josh got some blame for stalling Jr's final run to front. So I could see reddit go after the most popular vote just for that alone.

Is there a link around to show how many votes each driver got?

Right. Last year she beat Keselowski, who completed two laps and broke a transmission, and Mark Martin, who wrecked out. 20th out of 22, behind even Ragan's Front Row Motorsports entry. Although many here would have you believe she would've won the race tonight.

100 dogecoin ~ $0.05 USD. They raised almost 68 million dogecoins and got regular donations from those who didn't have the currency too.

The same Humpy who doesn't want anything to do with the track anymore? OK.
[/QUOTE]
Yep, but I've always respected his opinion about upcoming drivers. (I'm ignoring the reality of his current relationship with the track).

Theres no need to sit at the computer. Insert the script and let it have at it. Set it and forget it
It wasn't a script. People actually were sitting at their computers and voting. They were livestreaming themselves do it and everything.

"It's my understanding that I had more votes than I did last year, but you know, it is what it is," Patrick said. "I don't doubt my fans at all. I know they voted, and I'm grateful for all they did to try and get me in the race."

Scripts were used. Bots were spotted & they implemented the capatcha
Nah, they were just suspicious of the rate at which the votes were coming in. They found a way to eliminate having to go back and click on the driver for each vote, which cut out a lot of wasted time.

Ah I figured the capatcha was inserted after the fact. Either way, I hope this kind of money keeps flowing his way & maybe other 1 car teams will follow suite.

All the Dogecoins in virtual existence aren't going to buy a driver talent. It doesn't matter how much money a one-car team raises, you aren't going to buy talent. Very few drivers possess the Kurt-Busch-esque type of talent that it takes to go fast with a one-car operation. The trend will quickly go by the wayside when the scripts, dogecoins, bots and captcha manipulations fail to produce the ultimate goal; Victory Lane.
JMO.

There's more to racing than winning. PPR wasn't even able to do anything other than S&P at races other than those held at restrictor plate tracks until this year. Every team and driver has a ceiling, this is just raising it. I don't think anyone honestly believe PPR or Wise are going to start winning now, but the more funding they have to do what they do the better. They understand Top 20 and Top 25 results are successes for them.

So maybe their goal is to become the next Joe Nemechek :idunno:

But, if you are a racecar driver you never show up to run 2nd.
Not everyone is in a position to run even close to 2nd. Richard Petty Motorsports raking in revenue of only $40 million/year compared to Hendrick Motorsports bringing in $190 million/year doesn't mean Marcos Ambrose doesn't try as hard as an HMS driver.
