College football 2023

Gonna do my best to watch this Georgia Georgia Tech game. I’m feeling completely out of it and horrible. Stupid allergies

Earlier I thought all of the chaos that we haven’t had this season was finally all coming at once today and we just keep getting teased

Maybe we can get something crazy tonight
I’m at the USF game but Florida looks like they’ve jumped out to a nice start. Would make my week if they managed to beat FSU.

Auburn has to excute someone on their defensive staff after that fiasco. A public statement has to be made.
They could do a public hanging but a public stoning would be more appropriate
It would be interactive and allow the masses to release some frustration.

I'm still riding high on that win earlier today. I'm really going to miss Blake Corum tearing it up in the Big House. I don't think there is a better guy in college football than Corum, he gives so much back to the community. On the field, he's a little guy with the heart of a lion.

Gus Johnson is such a joy to listen to.

Meh. I don't understand why everyone loves him so much. I think he tries way too hard. How many times has he called Marvin Harrison "Maserati" this year? He's the Rick Allen of college football.

Florida is so dumb, man. Jesus.

Extremely.

Like I said earlier, I like Napier and his long term vision, but this coaching staff needs some changes.

and the Chalkyness continues by way of the Gators targeting stupidity

And UGA even let GT keep it within one score.

What a series of blueball results once again. On the other hand, we have some great do-or-die conference title games next weekend.

As far as the playoffs go, if Georgia Michigan FSU Washington all win out, they're all in obviously so they're in control of their own fate.

Where it gets interesting is between Oregon and Texas, if Texas gets moved ahead of Oregon this week then the committee is setting up for Texas to be in if they beat OKst and get the help they need, they absolutely obliterated TTech, and would likely be favored against Oregon on a neutral site at this point, it's close but they have Ewers back and healthy now. Ideally Texas would want Louisville to beat FSU, and Washington to continue winning against Oregon. I don't see a realistic way for Bama to get in unless the committee does something ridiculous after the Georgia game like jumping them over Texas when Texas beat them in their own place during the season, and that would be ridiculous, they would need FSU to lose Washington to win and Texas to lose and they would have to beat Georgia.

Also since there aren't enough bowl eligible teams, James Madison will be going bowling.

UCLA is getting wrecked by Cal. Didn't see this coming
Seems like a lot of UCLA fans are fed up with Chip Kelly at this point, but winning just enough games this year including the USC victory means they’re too late to hire Jonathan Smith, who’s from Pasadena.

Nice win to get bowl eligible for Cal and now they have bragging rights with the series ending, plus future “Calimony” payments from UCLA for leaving.

Colorado State was the last team who could’ve gotten to bowl eligible at 6-6. Terrible game management but it made it that much more dramatic for Hawaii, holy cow.

As it stands now I’m actually surprised Oregon is ahead of Alabama and Texas if you’re going off of résumé. Of course, Oregon has been playing really well all season and blowing teams out more often than not (although not against the one common opponent they have with Texas, which is Texas Tech).

I think Alabama won’t be able to jump Texas should they each win this week. That head-to-head result in Tuscaloosa will be too hard to ignore. If Oregon also wins I think they have a much better argument. Georgia would be a better win than Washington, and they already have more ranked wins as it stands with Ole Miss/LSU/Tennessee (although I don’t agree Tennessee should be ranked over Utah).

Though for sure FSU losing is the easiest way they get in, but I’m not so sure after Louisville lost to Kentucky yesterday. They also have a pretty bad loss to Pitt. Plus I imagine Charlotte will be mostly garnet and gold this Saturday.

for the record, I think Oregon gets their revenge on Washington, which is why I think the rankings that come out this week are so important for Texas's chances even though the committee could jump them back over Texas after beating a higher ranked opponent Washington vs OKst. Style points are going to play a big big factor imo.

I think if not for Ewers injury and other injuries Texas has had, they've had a couple close calls with the backup QB and Brooks going out in the TCU game, but survived it and are now getting back to full strength, if not for that period of games they would be ahead of Oregon rn, but Oregon has been blasting thru opponents pretty convincingly for a while now. Think it's about where it should be on that. Just depends how you're ranking on resume of results or potential who looks the best right now if the goal is to get the 4 best teams in, a mixture of both I'd say.

I'm still sort of stunned that FSU didn't get got last night, that was literally all UF until right before halftime, but FSU made it happen somehow so props to them when it would have been easy to fold up shop after that start in the Swamp combined with the Jordan Travis injury week before. It'd be a nice Cinderella story going into the playoffs if they can make it past Louisville.

I find it VERY amusing that it’s Oregon vs. Washington, sounds like a surge in $$$.

Delaware is moving up from FCS to FBS in 2025. Pretty interesting move as they’ll immediately be the second-highest budgeted athletic department in the conference, with a really good history at the DII and FCS levels. Will only be eight states without an FBS football school after this.

Texas will need Florida State help, they even put Ohio State in front of them. UofA into the the Top 15 wow it's been a while
