Congratulations Chase Elliott

People are merely discussing the issue in a mature, gentlemanly manner. I don't see anything wrong with that...other than there's no drama, name calling or personal attacks on anyone :)

Everybody seems to see it a different way . I see Elliott turn left to get a better angle into the corner .I see Elliott get into the corner first . If Dillon had backed off maybe Elliott would have overdriven the corner and Dillon could have cut back under him. I can't read Elliotts mind like others , I have no idea what his intent was (other than winning ) but as to who had more to lose , it was Dillon , so why didn't he back off and let Elliott overdrive the corner? Maybe Elliott did dive bomb the corner to get the win . Seen it a hundred times . Not illegal , anymore than the bump and run is .

That is exactly what his intent was. I'm no mind reader either but I can assure you that his intent wasn't to hit that corner straight on and wreck himself.

Got nothing else to talk about. No earth shattering news, talking about FS1 is boring. No races on. This thread will sink when the trucks race at iowa and pop back up when Austin dumps Chase on the last lap to win.. course that'll be okay with everyone :)

the best thing about the way he won it, now he can't cry when he gets run over, because that's they way he races.

"Merely discussing the issue in a mature, gentlemanly manner" is moot because nobody is going to change their opinion on whether they liked the punt or not. :)

Chase Elliott:
camping world trucks.6 races total in 1 year.1 win, 5 top 5's 6 top 10's 1 pole with an average finish of 4.3
3 races in K&N pro over two years. 2 top 5's out of three races
Arca 10 races in 2 years. 1 win and 6 top 5's all ten races finished in the top 10
X1r-pro series 11 races in two years 1 win 7 top 5's 10 out of 11 races finished in the top 10.

Elliott isn't a one hit wonder @ 17.. 33 races ran, 3 wins, 20 top 5's, 28 top tens.

Chase has run more than three K&N races. Won ONE race at Iowa (a horsepower track). Runs at tracks like Bowman Gray, Greenville, Gresham and Langley and nobody knows he's there.

Pro Cup changed the rules to allow Chase Elliott and Hendrick Motorsports to bring NASCAR racecars in to the series.

ARCA - a Sprint Cup Series pit crew won him a race in a Hendrick car with a Hendrick engine that he still almost lost on the track.

Super Late Model racing - banned from PASS Series, more disqualifications than any other driver in history (and he's only 17) ... and that comes considering that he had better cars under him and more money behind him than Kyle Busch and still had to cheat to win races.

But hey, I started this out as a positive thread. Shame I had to bring up his real past.

  • just like everything today, cheat, lie and steel to get ahead. I see it every day at work.

Well, like I said, if there's no penalty and the win still stands, then the pass was obviously deemed good. It's NASCAR's sandbox.

So despite your feelings on how Chase won this race, do y'all think he has the ability to be the next big superstar? Or is he just another Boston Reid/Blake Feese but with a famous daddy?

I think it's a little too early to say. I don't really start judging a guy til he's riding a full season in Nationwide. He has the backing.

Couldn't find anything on the net to validate your claim that he had been banned from super late models..or any of the other BTW. Yeah i screwed up he did run more K&N's that is the only thing you got right that I could find anyway.
I did find that he was national champion in super late models (different series than the one he was banned?) while also racing K&N Pro East.
http://chaseelliott.com/bio/
The 2011 season proved to be a breakout one for Elliott, who made his fulltime debut in the K&N Pro Series East, while juggling 23 late model events. He earned three top-five finishes and six top-10s in the 12-race K&N Pro Series East season, and concluded the year in late models with seven wins, 19 top-five finishes and 19 top-10s. Two of Elliott’s seven late model wins were particularly notable. He earned the National Champion title in Super Late Models with the Champion Racing Association (a division of ARCA) in November and followed that up by winning the prestigious Snowball Derby in Pensacola, Fla., in December. During the 300-lap Snowball event, Elliott bested Cup-level talent to become the youngest winner in the event’s history.

NOBODY KNOWS HE'S THERE:
Greenville: 4 races...6th place is the worst he finished
Bowman Grey.2 races....first race he broke a battery and got sent to the back...finished 18th out of 27..Next year 2012, he started 6th and finished 6th..
Gresham, 2 races...He won both of them. so i know somebody knew he was there. http://chaseelliott.com/elliott-wins-the-super-late-model-race-at-gresham/
Langley: he ran 5th the first time he was there..second time he pole-ed it and finished 3rd..I think they knew he was there also

I think this proves who is full of B.S. and is making stuff up...it ain't Chase Elliott.

So freaking what! Lets bring up Big Es past as a young driver coming up and see what we get!

Andy was probably talking about the other Chase Elliott. The guys who steels from other drivers.

yeah he probably got Chase confused with a stick n baller thug. I heard he watches that kind of stuff. :growl:

My opinion on Chase is that he has the blood line and talent to be a great driver, whether he harnesses it that is another story , he still a kid!

Yeah maybe so, but ya got to remember, most of these kids have 10 12 years experience racing @ 17 years old.

I don't know how people are interpreting that video differently, Chase drove straight into the corner, he did not turn left at all into Ty, Ty did that part all on his own and set himself up for that dump. After the bump however he did steer his truck to compensate the impact, such as you would going fast over a speed bump in a parking lot.

you don't know this place very well yet.:)

I believe the incident that Andy may have been referring to was at a PASS South race at North Wilkesboro. Apparently he dominated the race and after the event, a couple of teams had protested. The race officials then tried to collect a part from the engine to test it and after Dad refused to turn the parts over they gave him a lifetime ban.

Yeah , I can see how Andy could spin that.

Huh? Ty drove left in a left turn. Chase drove right in a left turn. That was as intentional as it gets. He could've lifted after he bulled through Ty Dillon but he didn't want Ty to be able to save it and come back at him so he made sure he wrecked Ty. Same **** Larson did at Daytona. Larson tried to wreck CE Falk twice and when CE hung on, he finally made sure he wrecked him in a way that Falk couldn't hang on.

It's chicken**** racing. I'd do the same thing on the last lap of a race since NASCAR's determined that it's fair game but let's not act like Chase did nothing wrong.

How's that spin? Teams are allowed to protest. They did - knowing Chase Elliott is a career cheater. Chase's team refused to hand over the parts in question and got banned for life from PASS for it.

Yeah somehow that equals in Andy's brain that Chase did it and he is a "career cheater"?o_O Looks like to me Bill told them to shove it and moved into a larger venue and won the title there, . The National Champion title in Super Late Models with the Champion Racing Association (a division of ARCA) Of course since Hendrick saw how good he is and put him in one of his rides..Now Andy thinks anybody can win in a Hendrick car. No win situation in Andy's world. At any rate Chase's record speaks for itself, got a good little racer coming up.

Time will tell. He will be raced the same way he raced ty. He started off on the bad foot. He cost I driver racing for the championship a lot of points. the Dillon boys aren't going anywhere.

next year he will be old enough to race em all..time will tell. Elliott in a Chevy..got to get used to that.

Just finished watching the race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Great race, cup needs a date there (but first they need on at Road America!) Anyways though, what does the community think about Chase Elliott's bonzai move? I am biased because I like the kid, more than Dillon at least, as cheap as it was, 1: it wasnt direct wrecking (i.e. he didnt let off the gas when Dillon blocked, as opposed to turning into him), and 2: I would have done the same thing if it meant winning my first race too (simular situation to how Cale Gale squeezed Kyle Busch into the wall last year).

Oh and I liked Mike Skeen at first but that last lap move plus a couple other moves I look at in retrospect are reminding me of 2 other unfortunate road races :p

This is all subjective, some like it some don't, the slap bothered me most.
But this and the spring California Cup race is good for ticket sales

I agree the slap really bothered me as well. That girl needs to know her place. I am not talking about some girls must be in the kitchen type ****, but she is a girlfriend of an unknown racer. She just needs to be thankful that she is even there. If I was Skeen I'd dropped her ass right there.

yeah too bad he isn't Canadian..He might have been thru the Jacques Villeneuve driving school though.

no grilfriend or wife should get involved in a driver issue.

He's obviously got the skills, plus Hendrick backing. He'll be a Cup champion one day. Mark these words ;)

CRA is a larger venue than PASS?

Hold on a second.

He's got talent but I wouldn't put him in the top ten of NASCAR's rising stars.

I agree with this. As much as I love good, hard racing, respect is everything in NASCAR. Chase didn't earn any with that move. I love trading paint and rubbing but wrecking a guy on the last lap isn't racing. Kyle Larson is the man but I wasn't a fan of his win either - that was dirty driving. Chase's move was also dirty driving. Exact same situations. Larson tried a bump and run but Falk hung on, so he took him clean out. Elliott took Ty clean out because he didn't want Ty to have a chance to retaliate.
