Cup RACE thread --- Atlanta

The time he wrecked Hamlin after cutting the course was inexcusable. And then he followed it up the following year wiping Blaney out at Bristol.
Can't forget when he wrecked himself and Reddick at Bristol too. And Larson in the Coke 600 in 2022.

Come to think of it...with the exception of the Phoenix win, he's wrecked himself and others EVERY race he's had a top 5 car.

I’ll still die on the hill Denny deserved it after he forced him off the track.

Chase Briscoe should've been suspended for that, honestly.

NASCAR needs to do a little more policing. I don't want it to get out of hand where every incident has a subjective penalty attached, but behavior that flagrant can't be tolerated in any discipline. Disobeying race control and intentionally wrecking someone after getting a penalty... they suspended Robby Gordon for the same thing in 2007 (after Marcos Ambrose spun him under caution).

Brisco was asking for wreck a lot louder at other times, not so much when he met his fate.

Just happy that he didn't take my Pick'em driver Gilliland out. I was concerned that he would prior to his wreck
Punted mine back to 24th...

Robby was his own worst enemy. I gave up on him after he brake checked Waltrip under caution.

Okay, but see I’m not sure if I fully agree. A right hook into a wall, yeah. But something like that I’m not sure. Because then you have to police what’s on purpose and what’s not, and that can get super tricky

Funny story. I was actually thinking of the Reddick incident when typing Blaney, I mis-remembered and thought he wiped Blaney out that night.

But he did wipe Blaney out at Bristol last year.

I just combined two incidents into one in my mind lol.

I'm TRYING to watch the race.... Someone isn't okay with that...

One of the funniest interviews ever

Only one I can think off hand better, was Boris Said talking about Greg Biffle

He was, and NASCAR had it out for him because of it. But this is one I'll never get over. NASCAR penalized Robby Gordon because Marcos Ambrose dumped him under caution. Had that incident been called right (putting Robby Gordon back in the lead), none of the other shenanigans that ensued after that would have taken place. Turning someone under caution, whether intentional or not, should be an automatic penalty.

But they did make the right call suspending him for disobeying race control.

It was so obviously intentional, lol. But that's not the most egregious part of it. Flagrantly defying race control was and should carry a steep penalty. In short track racing, that would be a suspension on its own.

But if you don't want to set standards, NASCAR could've done to Briscoe what they SHOULD have done to Bubba Wallace and suspended him for the totality of the incident. I STILL say NASCAR messed up the Bubba Wallace deal in penalizing him for the hook, when they should've said he was suspended for the combination of incidents there.

Robby Gordon was so emotional.

It has nothing to do with what happened on track. He basically just cried about how terrible of a human Michael is. It was such an unnecessary character assassination. And it was so funny lol

Good time to top off the gas now with 18 to go. With a full should be able to make thru a half dozen GWCers (overtime extravaganza)

Yeah. That one you can probably say that. But again, I don’t want a can of worms opened. That’s why I leave it to right hooks.

Excited for 2024 cup season to start next week

Making Atlanta a superspeedway is the dumbest thing we've ever seen.

Just bring back the old package.

Elliott just spun on his own for no reason

Don't they have telemetry on these cars? How can they never tell if someone "had to lift" on these broadcasts when they could break that data down on replays 24 years ago?

I cannot believe how much broadcasts have regressed because of Fox.

Also, Berry clearly had to lift because of the 2 car slowing down and blocking the whole damn track.

Lot of broke toes after that wreck.
