He was, and NASCAR had it out for him because of it. But this is one I'll never get over. NASCAR penalized Robby Gordon because Marcos Ambrose dumped him under caution. Had that incident been called right (putting Robby Gordon back in the lead), none of the other shenanigans that ensued after that would have taken place. Turning someone under caution, whether intentional or not, should be an automatic penalty.
But they did make the right call suspending him for disobeying race control.
It was so obviously intentional, lol. But that's not the most egregious part of it. Flagrantly defying race control was and should carry a steep penalty. In short track racing, that would be a suspension on its own.
But if you don't want to set standards, NASCAR could've done to Briscoe what they SHOULD have done to Bubba Wallace and suspended him for the totality of the incident. I STILL say NASCAR messed up the Bubba Wallace deal in penalizing him for the hook, when they should've said he was suspended for the combination of incidents there.
