The tie-rod is mounted way up on the "spindle/upright" like modern FWD cars. Rack & pinion way high too. Not sure why they don't have caliper on back side though. On firewall side? Maybe because too close to exhaust?

Is it not easier to run ducting to front-mounted calipers?
