Cup RACE thread --- Pocono, No. 1

22 is running race in reverse.

There's a good chance stage 3 starts like stage 2 with the 22 out front if their pit strategy is any indication. If that's the case, the 18, 5 and 24 may want to just finish 18, 19, and 20 so they get track position tomorrow at the start.

It's still early in the race, plenty of laps for Kyle, Kyle and William to get back up front.

Matty D has been such a disappointment.

They've gained about 3 spots with fresh tires.

You aren't driving to the front if you're starting outside the top 5. This package won't allow for it until tire wear really comes into play. At that point, field will be too strung out

Tires aren't much so far good battle back in the pack though
Draft and positioning is more important than tires, just like Daytona. This race is like an old superspeedway race.

At track cup drivers used to say drove like a road course lolol

I think that is how the strategy is figured, like a road course race

Cliff seems to have fixed the looseness in the 5 now. He's driven sway from the 24 and 18 who had him covered in stage 1.

Just able to tune in. Miss anything?
Pit strategy. Chase Elliot got damage on like lap 2.

18, then 24 looked to be cars to beat. Pit strategy left them around p15-18 at the start of stage 2. 5 drove away from both of them by about 2 seconds towards the end of the run.

Tirewear doesn't make much of a difference until end of a fuel run.

Lots of drivers on different strategies that hasn't really come together yet.

Not much except for a misjudgment by Brad K that didn't end well for Custer and early damage to Chase on the start.

Apply for Jeff's old job.

Kyle stayed out.

5 first car with 4 tires and will have by far the freshest tires out of the top cars.

Really wonder if this will pay off.

18 should win the stage again, imo.

Kinda suprising so many guys took 4 there. Tires dont seem to mean much yet

How bad is a damage on the #9? Last to 10th. Doesn’t seem so rough.

I was thinking this race didn't start til 4 and just turned it on a few minutes ago after getting back from the store

He hasn't driven up there. I think that's strategy. Prior to differing pit strats, he was outside the top 20.

But they make smart decisions and should get a decent finish out of it.

It wasn't as bad as Newman's.
