Stages, phantom debris, NASCAR telling drivers to not pull so far ahead as to not stink up the show, etc. All of that is just gimmicks meant to make the racing artificially more exciting. Yesterday's race may have not been side by side beatin' and bangin' action for all 400 laps. However, it still had a lot of comers and goers and pit strategy that either benefited the driver or hindered them.

The people who say it was a snoozefest of a race are probably more upset about the short track package still sucking, but hopefully NASCAR is working on that and can actually roll out something in 2024 that'll make short track racing exciting again.

I’ll admit it wasn’t a bad race, but it kinda felt weird. These cars are so built for short tracks with one exception, their lower HP. I don’t really see another answer outside of dropping curb weight closer to 3000

I know they're doing this underwing test, but I honestly believe that's just a band-aid at best. Which is what NASCAR does...often. If you ever watch a CARS Tour race, you'll notice that they usually put on good shows and at most tracks the CARS drivers are able to make the outside work and make some outside passes. IMHO, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for NASCAR and Goodyear to look at the tire compound that Hoosier uses for the CARS Tour. I know NASCAR doesn't like to admit mistakes, but the NextGen tires may be a mistake.

There is no silver lining when it comes to Rick Allen and I will refuse to acknowledge anything he does as better than horrible XD

What annoys me the most about him is that he isn't knowledgeable, and how fake he is. Between his deep voice, his constant yelling, and his cringe worthy efforts to put rasp and grunge in his voice, He just reminds me of the WWE announcer which gives the broadcast a very phony feel.

His play by play is so inauthentic that I find it hard to take it seriously as play by play.

Honestly, yeah. 45 laps. Or maybe with five laps to go. But to just throw that in, coming to the checkered, when it's clear he rushed it so he can make the "wins!" Call on time is just bad broadcasting and seems pretty disorganized.


I think Rick Allen is the worst thing to happen to the NASCAR broadcast in decades.

They really got screwed by the weather at NHMS. They don’t have so little grip here that they can’t properly evaluate the front aero changes and are trying to hook the rear back up a bit. NH would’ve given them a chance to go quick enough to get a read on the new underwing. Now they have to punt to the off-season since they can’t test at Martinsville or Phoenix.

Richmond is plenty slick enough. Richmond and Loudon tires were tested. They can get baselines from both.

Yeah I rewrote the sentence in my head midway and screwed it up. That was supposed to say they don’t have any grip/have so little grip. Lol

Sounds like the drivers would rather test it at any other short track but Richmond since they just fight the car so much already.

I listened to Bell who can't quit spinning out all by his self. Probably not the greatest one to voice his opinion lol. The engineers are going to take their data as we know they do, Goodyear will always be ultra conservative with their changes if any and on we go. The aero change doesn't look like it did much if anything. What Nascar needs is another "Hamlin" type move to one of the front runners on a short track and all will be well.
