Does Jeff Gordon even care anymore?

Is that a hint? Like, from this board? :(

As far as work, I'm 35 so I have 3 to 4 more years left - if I can make it that long.

Nah, I was just joking. 35? 3 or 4 more years of work? Nice?!

Jimmie Johnson finished out of the top 5 this week, I think he should retire.

I wish 3 or 4 more years. That part was a joke. I am quite obviously washed up though, so maybe you're right!

He had a top ten car but just took too long getting his runs out. He barely made teh first round and when he did he went to 7th easy.

Gotta figure out why its taking them so long when other guys make 2 more runs then he does. He's currently a 2 and done and that's just not good enough.

I think they'll get it together.

His practice times were questionable so let's not go into Las Vegas with high expectations

Oh I know. It is kinda weird though, because he was high on the speed charts on Thursdays test at Las Vegas. How does every other team gain so much speed, yet 24 stays around the same speed?

Complacency.

Optimism: he knows he has a super fast car come raceday, not qualifying, and just wants to keep the car safe before Sunday.

I knew he was going to be "hostage Jeff" this week.
It should be so obvious that the chains would only be tightened while in Vegas.
This is a sophisticated crowd that has kept and reduced him to his perfunktoriness.

It coud be worse they broke Tonys leg last year just to keep him away from the all you can eat buffets.
That was the gutting of Tony, prior to that they neutered him just do those stretch like a double jointed Romanian gymnast moves merely for a commercial.

NOTE: Gymnastic moves that involve holding the feet like wonderful blessed rabbit ears over the head by a Nadia, Natasha, Tatiana etc is a magnificent wonderful spirtual event. But when performed by a neutered Tony it is just sadistic.

And hostage Jeff is no fool after seeing the gutted and neutered Tony he stepped it up late last season (follow the time line correlated to Tonys injury and HJs late season surge).

Yep.

That's convoluted even for you bucko.

Friend(s) I can understand the profoundness of the moment.
But as I am learning about the sinister nature of those controlling or more clearly enslaving Gordon, nothing shocks me anymore.

I have many more mighty truths to present but I am self restrained with the knowledge that many good people aren't quite ready for the full truth.
It is a powerful thing that should be administered by a humble stedy hand (like mine of course :) ).

It is more than the thrill a child gets to enjoy when they get to show off a new lesson learned. It is more like the feel that Moses must have felt when he came off the mountain with the ten commandments. Like "man can you believe the reaction this will get", or maybe how Bruce Dickinson felt when he had to have more cowbell.

(To be continued......)

Wow. Another pathetic effort by Wonder Boy this week in qualifying. A whole 0.24 off of the pole speed. Anyone on here been around this sport long enough to remember when Jeff was referred to as 'Wonder Boy'? Maybe they should rebrand him 'Wonder If He'll Even Show Up'?

Wait a second here... so your saying Jeff qualified nearly a full 1/4 of a second slower than the new track record speed?!!! Why is that guy even on track still?!

If you don't care just go home Jeff... just.... go home

All this becase the OP dared to offer an opinion that differs from the rest? GAFG.

I'm glad that everyone seems to agree that the premise of this thread is stupid. Nothing else really needs to be said.

jeff has lots of wine to console him.

I think he still has some fire inside yet. When wonder first jumped into the scene I loved to hate him, not thats Johnsons role. He still may surprise. I wonder why Gordon has not got into the owner thing like Tony has?

Gordon is a race car driver, not a business man. Simple as that

He has several business interests but has said that he is not much of a hands on owner, that's why he hires or partners with experts in that particular field.

well not race business anyway-he does own vineyards in Cali doesnt he? I thought he made his own wine too...
He owns it but he's at the track the majority of the year & is concentrated on racing & sponsored events. His name is on it but he's got people to take care of it for him.

Anyway, Gordon looks good for today. Looking for a win as usual, and I hope he gets it. Hater stifling has been long overdue.

At the end he said that it sucks that he ran top five most of the day and it went away the last 40 laps.

They'll get there. These restarts and some late race strategy need some help.

I don't think he should even come back next weekend with that pathetic showing.

Care to expand? If talking about that early restart.. Yeah that was pretty terrible.
