Edwards will not be suspended

Probation

I think Carl had intended to send him spinning through the infield,(which he probably deserved) but the problem with his going airborne and almost into the stands shoud be on NASCAR"s shoulders. With these big wings on the rear that could happen anytime and if the cars are not changed it may well happen again. Guess if it does we"ll have to find another driver to blame it on.
But I feel like probation for Carl should be enough.

What should happen.......... sit out at Bristol
What will happen............ "Carl you've been a bad boy, now go play nicey nice." And maybe a fine and on "probation" for the rest of the year or at least till Daytona.

Carl is a piece of Shi-t. Turning someone at 190 MPH when you are 156 laps behind is insane. Carl should be parked for 3 races in Cup AND Nationwide races.

Hey Magnethead, when was Harvick suspended? I do not remember that...what year and what race? It is completely escaping my mind.

As far as sponsorship being cut....no way that will ever happen. If anything, deep down the sponsors love this. They may not admit on camera, but controversy always sells. They will get more TV time out of this, then if Edwards would have won. Cause this will be talked about the next two weeks until Bristol, perhaps beyond if there is more rubbing at Bristol.

I do believe like most on this thread that probation will be all that is handed down. Nothing more than that.

NASCAR suspends Kevin Harvick By JIM UTTER ThatsRacin.com Writer

File

Kevin Harvick has his game face on in this photo from Daytona in February.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Winston Cup driver Kevin Harvick has been "parked" by NASCAR officials and will not be allowed to drive in Sunday's Virginia 500 at Martinsville Speedway, several sources confirmed late Saturday. A formal announcement of the action is expected at the track Sunday morning. Grand National series driver Kenny Wallace will drive Harvick's No. 29 Chevrolet in Sunday's race, sources said. He would have to start at the rear of the field since he did not qualify the car.

Harvick's "parking" - defined in the NASCAR rulebook as an emergency action that is "final, non-appealable and non-reviewable" - comes in response to NASCAR officials' demand he park his truck after spinning Coy Gibbs in Saturday's NASCAR Truck series race at Martinsville.

Harvick and Gibbs tangled on the track several times over the course of several laps. Gibbs spun Harvick one time exiting Turn 4. Following a caution on Lap 188, Harvick rammed Gibbs' rear bumper entering Turn 1 and finally spun him exiting Turn 2.

NASCAR had enough, black-flagged Harvick and parked him for the day. Harvick parked his No. 6 Chevrolet in front of the Truck series hauler near pit road. He was told to report to the NASCAR hauler and met with series officials for nearly 90 minutes following the race.

Harvick was already under probation from his post-race incident with Greg Biffle at the Grand National series race at Bristol, Tenn., last month. Harvick was fined $15,000 and placed on probation until Aug. 28.

After Sunday's race, Harvick may receive a more traditional suspension, which could be appealed under NASCAR rules, sources said.

Would like to see happen;couple race suspention

What Nascar will do;The points he lost being parked for 4 laps they wil say is enough, even though he was already 130 some laps down already.$100,000 fine & probation.

Carl Edwards My options: Considering that Brad wrecks me with no regard for anyones safety or hard work, should I: A-Keep letting him wreck me? B-Confront him after the race? C-Wait til bristol and collect other cars? or D-Take care of it now? I want to be clear that I was surprised at his flight and very relieved when he walked away. Every person has to decide what code they want to live by and hopefully this explains mine.

I think Carl was trying to send him a message not kill him. Probably the wrong place/time but he did get his point across. Thankfully noone was seriosly hurt. I was shocked that he did it especially being a new dad and all. His temper got the best of him and this has been waiting to happen for a while. Hopefully the 2 can shake hands and put it in the past. If not have a boxing match for charity.

NASCAR wanted this, that happened at 'dega last year. This has nothing to do with a bad move by Carl. Wait till the cool down lap, grow a pair and try to resolve in the garage. Don't risk the life of another driver or even race officials or fans by spinning a 3500lb car at 195+mph. There is a time and a place for rivalries and emotion, but not at 195 at Atlanta.

What happened at 'dega was Carls stupidity, not Kezlowski. What happened today was Carl's stupidity, not Kez. I lost alot of respect for Carl today.

It wouldn't surprise me to see NASCAR put Carl on probation for a number of races, but if there is more, I would be surprised.

Probation for the entire year no supension , dock him 100pts

Looks like Carl has been watching a little to much Madhouse.

When Carl saw the replay of the first incident, even he said it didn't look malicous. All Brad did was hold his line.

You guys are arguing about who wrecked who isn't the problem the problem is the COT and NASCAR keeping that dammed wing on the car. It's the wing that put Kes in the air yes Carl hit him but what Carl did shouldn't have gotten Kes airborne. Does someone have to die before NASCAR removes the wing? They keep talking about taking it off but it's still on the car. Come on NASCAR wise up and take that fugly wing off.

Quote of the day:

“I'm sure a lot of people wanted to pay him back,” second-place finisher Juan Pablo Montoya said of Keselowski, with whom he tangled last year. “Looking at the TV, somebody did.”

Umm...you do realize they do plan to bring back the spoiler, right?

Yes, but why wait do it now. DW said they already have the spoilers to put on the cars. So what's the hold up?

I think it's called testing.

Don't worry, it sounds like they will be moving back to the wing at Martinsville and then maybe the wing/spoiler argument can be put to rest. Errr, probably not.

I seriously doubt Nascar will park Edwards for intentionally wrecking a guy and I agree with some others here that points/money fine with year-end probation is likely.

How much does anyone want to wager that he shows up at Birstol with his new kid to shove in our faces - like we've never seen a kid before - to promote how much of a famiy man he is?

As for Keselowski, this recent incident is just the latest in what I suspect is many more to come for him.

probation for a couple of months and a fine. not a record fine either. points deduction...small or none. sponsors are probably thrilled but they won't say so. look for nascar to use as promo for race at bristol (and beyond). carl will get a new nickname somwhere along the line of bad brad. cousin carl is too tame.

A die cast of his car or a die cast using whats left of his car??? :D

The facts are, Kesolowski is an aggressive driver and Edwards is an extremely competitive driver. Neither one is going to roll over for the other or anyone else.
In looking at what happened, Edwards deliberately tried to spin Kesolowski but aerodynamics played an unsuspected role. It was NOT Edwards intent to have Kesolowsi go airborne and my guess is if Edwards felt there was that possibility, he never would have tapped Kesolowski. There were no otehr cars in the vicinity to get involved but, had Edwards committed the same infraction at a short track, sure as God made little green apples, five or more cars would have been caught up in the retaliation and the argument here the same. Think about that.

Does that excuse Edwards? NO! And NASCAR has every right to issue a penalty BUT NASCAR must be careful how and what type of penalty they do issue because, NASCAR has stated they intend to let drivers settle these issues among themselves. In order to do that, they can implement a penalty to Edwards by taking points him and the car owner. PERIOD!

The rest of it will amount to Edwards phoning Kesolowski and apologizing and Kesolowski accepting the apology. From that point on there will be a new respect for one another regardless of who did what to who and when.

Keselowski did nothing wrong at Atlanta and last year at Talledega. He is a darn good driver and one who will create controversy for many years to come by not being the vanilla type so many have said they wanted to see for years.
Well folks, here he is, BRAD KESOLOWSKI!! A throwback to the days of yore! YA-HOO! Bring it on Kes!!

If Keslowski is going to stick around he'd better be ready to take it as well as dish it out.

I expect a decent fine, probabation for a few months and a 25 point penalty at most.

My initial reaction was that I hoped he would be suspended for a race. But, after a little reflection I think the above seems much more appropriate.

Suspending him would cause drivers to go into a shell and that is exactly what NASCAR does not want to happen. They have to do something significant to try to keep people from doing what Carl did on tracks like Atlanta where the speeds make it potentially fatal though.

I think the one good thing out of all this is simple.....BRISTOL IS GONNA BE EXCITING! :growl:

I'm thinking more like $50k fine and 50 to 100 points taken as well as probation for the rest of the season.

That's reasonable.
This incident, although a potential for a disaster that did not take place, is a sort of revival for NASCAR and could easily draw more spectators this season because of the wreck and the controversy it has created.
There are quite a few on the fence who are thinking of dropping the sport and this might cause them to swing both legs back over to the sticking around side of the fence. It looks like the NASCAR of old might be on the way back.;)

So if NASCAR tested the COT then they knew it would become airborne when turned around, so what does that say about NASCAR? Bigger wrecks a more exciting broadcast and maybe better ratings? It's simple take the wing off before someone dies. And wft is the deal with the GM cars being allowed more hp than the rest of the manufactures, at the beginning of the broadcast DW said he thought the GMs had best chance to win the race because under the hood they had more hp.

Key words there"HE THOUGHT" and you are talking about DW.Just saying:rolleyes:

Carl has issues. There is a very long list of him taking his frustration, and anger out at a track. We has shown aggression towards Matt Kenseth, JR at Michigan, Keselowski,......... obviously, also Harvick in the garage area,(wish Harvick made him spit chicklets), theres Kyle Busch, and i'm sure I missed a couple other folks.
The only thing Brad is guilty of, is not pulling over for Carl, at Dega' or Atlanta. Carl needs some wall-to-wall counseling in the back room.
You just don't do that when you're 150+ laps down, regardless of which track your at.
The nice thing about it, is Brad will be smiling next week, unphased, and the can of woms wil be nowheres near shut.
