Fall/Winter Weather Thread (2014-2015)

it is 6 here...which is 6 degrees warmer than they siad it would be. but the sun is out, so it doesn't really feel all that bad..
 
Okay, this is just wrong. This pic was taken about 10 minutes ago. Negative 18.8!

I live in southeastern VA (near Norfolk, Portsmouth, and VA Beach for all my military guys) and people are loosing their minds. The worst of the storm isn't even here yet and people are acting like it's the end of the world.

Even the pizza lady told her boss to shove it because she was going home.

I'm so over it. But hey, at least class is canceled!

Seriously though, anyone being affected by this storm, please stay safe. It's gonna be a rough next few days.
 
Saying a prayer for all effected. I was thinking this morning about the folks up in the NE with many feet of snow on the ground. Yes, they are being hit hard......but when all this passes, and the thaw comes? They are really going to have a rough time with flooding I would think. It's just cold misty rain here out my front door. Sleet and freezing rain missed us.
 
It's like 85* and I haven't seen a cloud in days. Sometimes I'm jealous of people that get "all the seasons"... then I talk to folks in other parts of the country and I'm like "yea.. nevermind"

I haven't measured yet, but I'd say we got about four inches of snow here in Northwest Arkansas. School was canceled today and already canceled tomorrow for much of the school districts. When I see school's getting canceled with this amount of snow, I just laugh. I can understand in the small cities where everyone lives in the country on roads that don't get plowed, but come on. The thing is, when it gets canceled, people complain when the makeup day comes, but they also complain when it doesn't get canceled. Just a few hours North of here in Kansas, we were lucky if they canceled school for half a foot. It's not hard to drive in this stuff, just take it easy and allow a bit of extra time. My biggest problem is getting my small car out of the parking lot.
 
You must muster through it... Spring is right around the freaking corner. So said our local groundhogg. FWIW.
 
The last 3 days have been wonderful here at my new digs.
Today, it's been colder than a well-diggers butt in the Arctic. Stiff north wind and no sunshine.

I know some have had it really, really rough this winter and I sympathize. But to this thin-blooded Texan, it's downright cold. :)

BUT, it was a beautiful day. I got re-connected with the world after 2 weeks of nothing. I now have phone, TV, and internet. Yippeeee!
 
8.9 below right now. This is getting more than old. Snow is still a foot deep and 8-12 more inches of snow are expected this week. Our vehicles don't like starting. The roads won't thaw enough to melt off the ice. There is nothing enjoyable with the weather these days. #bringonspring
 
My brother lives just north of Boston, before the last storm he had gotten 7 feet of snow in just over 3 weeks.
 
That's the total from several storms not just one and yes that's serious snowfall. Basically Boston is crippled. No place left to put the snow, they just got the ok to dump it in the bay. Commuter trains aren't running. They're paying 30 bucks a hour for people to shovel and clear the railroad tracks!
 
Ohio has been really lucky. We've not gotten more then 3 inches at a time. Spring is on the way folks. It's got to get here at some point.

(ignore the reference to March ......I may be a day ahead but not a whole month.) :D

 
Having some cold weather here in the land of the cheese....Wed. high to be to be 0... Thurs. high to be 4. I'll be indoors.
 
It's cool here today. It has warmed up a bit, now -15 hopefully it will get up to -4
but the wind chill is still -29
 
When did I move to the Arctic? Highs tomorrow and Friday are supposed to be 18º and 22º. WTF!?
