This is our year!!!
Fastest cars don't always win. Let's check on this at Homestead when Nascar decides the winner.Truer words have never been spoken.
They weren't unbeatable. The others were just too damn stupid trying to out jockey each other for position to do anything about it. Menard, Penske, and the 9 had an opportunity late to pull out and start their own lane around those 4 and they completely passed. Just made no sense. Even if it doesn't work, you'd rather not try? What are you racing for?
If you organize in the closing laps instead of racing door to door and side drafting each other 3-wide for 5th on back, you force the SHR bunch to throw blocks and move around. There was no way they could have stayed hooked up in that scenario with 4 cars. You also possibly wreck in that scenario. They were 3 wide at the front for a bit (40-50 to go or so I think) but the SHR cars weren't defending a win at that point in the race so they stayed locked on the bottom. It's all hindsight at this point but there was no real concerted effort to go after those guys at the end of the race due to the mix of manufacturers. They were unbeatable, knew that after qualifying, and they all tried during the race. They (the rest of them) came in during the caution right before the end of stage 2 and the SHR's stayed out to get the points, so they were all ahead of the SHR cars starting the final stage. All four SHR cars passed the field and ended up nose to tail and they drove off. again
Ya got that rightTruer words have never been spoken.
