GORDON"s In

If Joey is still in the Chase why is Martin not? Why wasn't the 22 penalized points? Isn't what they did actually worse since Front Row is a totally different team? Just shows who's ass Brain France's lips are on he and the Capin Make it Happen. Booooo NASCAR another inconsistent call which shows how PATHETIC y'all are.

I think it's the fact that honestly everything that happened Saturday screwed Gordon over, every single last thing cost Gordon a spot in the chase, Martin would not have been in if none of it happened, Gordon would have that's what it comes down to.

Because Logano doesn't drive for MWR, and there's no proof Penske did anything wrong.

Any chance that someone made the a bold prediction of 13 cars in the chase?
I predicted a 14 car chase (adding the #24 & #39)...But I didn't see the NASCRAP move of launching the #56 completely from the chase....
Se the 1st post in this thread

If the 24 team is able to shock the world like the 14 did in 2011 I will enjoy laughing at the haters nearly as much as I will enjoy the 5th Cup.

They musta done something
"Both the Front Row Motorsports and Penske Racing organizations have been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31 for violating Section 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing)."

Math.

You know, I know how to settle this once and for all. Push back the Chicago race for one week, and re-do the Richmond Race from start to finish. Give the teams a week to set up their cars and re-do the entire race.

After the race has started, just let the chips fall where they may.

Wow this comes as as shock. I thought NASCAR was totally done with this deal. Guess not.

I still think Logano should be outta there.

I hope they fix the chase next year. This was just utterly pathetic.

Absolutely.......you really have to worry when so many just can't see the obvious.

Honestly I am going to look at it this way, had Nascar had kept it to the top 12 getting in then this field would be about right with a 13th car added in, and plus depending on how this goes I can see Nascar making the chase a 13 car field next season anyway.

Exactly, and all of what I'm saying is coming from a Non-Gordon fan, had he not made the chase it wouldn't have effectd me, him making it doesn't because I don't see him winning it anyway.

And I'm a Kyle and Kurt fan. I just didn't like that Jeff got shafted.

You answered your own question. ;)

Stop hating. nascar rewrote the rule book to get your guy in. After all was said and done, Logano would have still been in front of Newman in the points and made the chase as a wildcard. MWR used Logano to manipulate him into the top 10, not into the chase.

If you consider having your teammate hitting the wall just as you become the lucky dog 'earning it'.
He was on the lead lap when he entered pit road sir, the worst case scenario was the caution coming out which it did "caused by his teammate", he got the free pass because he didn't stop in his pit and it put him behind the lap down cars. :p.

I didn't even think of this, had they took Joey out he'd have the win to get him him and if they kept it to 12 then Newman would have been back out and we'd still have a mess. So 13 drivers is the only way it could have been fixed.

Hey, I wasn't bitching about the race. Stock Car racing is a sport of circumstances, sometimes you get caught in other people's bull****.

What I am bitching about is the blatant fixing of the Chase line-up by NASCAR just to appease the drivers and fans.

  1. I think the 22 should be out also. It was not sliced breads fault or doing but his team and this is a team sport. Win together and lose together. Still wondering how much Penske paid Gilligan.

So should the drivers be allowed to fix the race?

No, he was a lap down, and the worst case scenario is the yellow comes out when he's in his box and he loses the lucky dog. Since HMS timed it properly, they knew full well Jeff would just roll down pit road and back out to his original position.

HMS showed how you're SUPPOSED to manipulate a race by being sure the yellow looked like bad timing for Jeff. Jeff had no intention of going into his box, and everyone seems to have bought the story.

BTW, did Jeff pass Gilliland for the lucky dog?

Why should he be out?????????

Without those 3 points, he's in as a WC and Newman is out. All MWR did was get Logano in the top 10. They DIDN'T get him into the chase.

I dunno, I just feel like at some point somebody has to be left out of the Chase. Pretty much every year there are a couple of guys right there near the cutoff position, and I'm sure there was subtle "race manipulation" happening in years past. Where do we draw the line?

And on an unrelated note, I would love to know how NASCAR plans to police all this "race manipulation" in the future. For example, how in the world are they going to be able to accurately tell whether a driver let someone by or just got outright passed by someone that had a strong run on them? How will they be able to accurately tell if someone just pits because they have a problem, or just for the heck of it vs. pitting to give a teammate an extra spot? There's too much potential for controversy here. Oh wait, controversy creates cash. Nevermind.

Wel I give them SOME credit for actually trying regain some justice out of this cluster##ck

So tell me, should NASCAR "fix it" every time there's a wreck and an innocent driver get caught up in it, or should they just let that play out "as is"?

Listen to the radio chatter, which leads to teams having to be smart about it and planning it all before hand and giving some code word but even then the driver will have to wait a good bit before they do anything. I'm a bit worried the championship could come down to something like this and we won't know who is the champion for 4 days.

JJ's timing also gained Jeff about 11 spots by putting the cars in front of him a lap down. That alone gave him the chance to catch up to Logano in points.

You know, I could argue with you about that but what's the point? Gordon's in so this is null. :D

Of course you could. You could argue the world is flat and be sure you're right. ;)

The fact is, Jeff didn't earn a chase spot this year, but he sure got one.

Very glad to hear NASCAR made the right call ! ! !

Can't believe all the people on here who actually believe that Gordon doesn't deserve a chase spot. He was top 10 in points until Bowyer intentionally spun out.

Hopefully Gordon will do better in the chase than he has so far this year. :)

This is "the Chase" not just any race. Much investment has put into getting into the top 12. Sponsors also deserve to get a return on their investment as well no?....

By that argument, every driver deserves to be in The Chase if we're going to go the "Sponsors deserves to get a return on their investment" route.
