GORDON"s In

Just please stop bitching about Jeff Gordon and his team/owners.

There is one person we all should be bitching about. Clint Bowyer and his band of cheaters.
Be careful...any exhibition reason and logic will get you in trouble around here.

When their sponsored driver gets SHAFTED. Get it?

Stock Car racing always was, is, and should be a sport of circumstances. Sometimes you get caught up in other people's bull****, that's just the way it is. It's impossible to do a "replay" of lap 50 like they do in other sports. The best NASCAR can do is assign points deductions and fines for rule breaking.

Well...that way the way it should be. Now they just manipulate race results and point standings.

It's an HMS Christmas, courtesy of the Brian and Mike comedy hour.

An illegitimate championship is very possible this year.

You seem upset that Gordon is now in the chase, but ok with Newman being in, when really it was the same event that knocked them both out... The Bowyer spin.

No, I'm upset with how this was handled. Assuming a win for Newman, then penalizing Truex, then putting Jeff in for a non-infraction isn't a solution. It's basically a shell game to get 13 in when nascar should have left Newman out and told them to work on their pit stops.

What is the point of a F*CKING rule book if they're going to make it up as they go along?

Brian France and Mike Helton have gone too far this time.

I told you guys this would happen. Coca-Cola 600, when they let the teams work on the cars during the red flag. Rather than having an iron first, NASCAR is starting to bend over backwards to appease the fans and owners and fix what can't be fixed. Pandora's Box has been ripped wide open, my opinion of NASCAR has been damaged forever.

And let me be clear, because the Gordon fans are going to assume I'm upset because I've been picking on them and Gordon for the past week. Gordon's involvement is irrelevant, it's the fact that they added a "13th car" to the Chase without taking anybody out is completely f*cked.

Brian France doesn't have the backbone that his old man did and he's being completely run over by the owners. I watched a governing body that was controlled by the owners destroy the CART series, so, good luck, Brian.

To be honest I'd have been fine if nascar would have kept the race results at Richmond as is and just hit MWR with the penalty.

The ripple effect is not to be taken lightly.

So stop watching it.

If we've learned anything from the past week it's this. Nascar can only get mainstream coverage when there is a controversy. It was being talked about on freaking CNN for crying out loud.

Sorry I just took a "my wife is cutting my hair break" but back to where we were....oh, these were an exceptional series of events whereby one team actually manipulated the points race and was able to determine who made the chase. Something had to be done to undo that.

Its like I said on that chase thread. NASCAR makes rule changes week to week, hell day to day.

Like I said, the chase its numbered. This year proved it doesn't work as intended. Too many people willing to cheat to get it.

They will keep spanding it until all 43 drivers are in.

Truex should never have been in there.....and you know that.

Adding a 13th spot to the playoff system is more than making a simply rule change about the weight of connecting rods or some other administrative rule. It's outrageous they would change something like this technically AFTER the playoffs were started. Take Logano out if you want Gordon in. I disagreed with taking Bowyer out, but what the hell, take SOMEBODY out but the idea of adding a 13th car just to make the fans and owners happy is the most asinine thing I've ever heard.

This whole wild car started with Dale Jr.

I was totally fine with the top 10 drivers making it.

There was no drama then. It was flat out, top 10 gets in, end of story. This two extra cars sure have added alot of shenanigans.

I didn't like that then either.

right. Taking 3 points from Logano would have put Jeff 10th, Logano 11th and in a wildcard spot with KK, and Truex is out. That's exactly why MWR wanted to help Logano make the top 10.

Just saw that tail end of that consference.

Gordon truely dislikes Bowyer. A few years they were good friends.

How things change. Ha

Jeff needs to stop whining and go racing. He knows Bowyer owed him one, so just say 'we're even' and leave it at that, or Bowyer will say I didn't get you this time......

Yeah, I'm really sick of whiny Jeff Gordon on Twitter the last week. You'd think he would take a cue for Newman or Truex and keep his comments brief. Oh well, we can all watch Wonder Old Man finish #8 in the Chase this year. #DriveFor5AKADriveForMedicoreFinish

I'm sure Clint Bowyer and MWR will get blamed for that too, because Gordon's fans don't hold Jeff accountable for anything.

Jeff Gordon says Clint Bowyer spun on purpose and that wasn't addressed by NASCAR's penalty bc points were pre-Chase.

So....Gordon gonna still wreck Bowyer? Nah? cool then.

Things like altering their own playoff format turns me off the sport so much. Nascar is too much of a business and it hurts the fan of just hard racing. Like oh we can't penalize Bowyer really cause we have no true evidence but we can turn around and add a chase spot because of the totality of everything that went on. Pick one, and stick with it.

I'm one that believed Gordon had gotten a bit screwed but please, lets not make up spots to fit him in just because it pisses people off that he's not in it.

Nascar was handed chicken****, and charged with making chicken salad.

I think they did a pretty good job. There are no perfect solutions, this was the best compromise imo.

I read dozens if not hundreds of comments all around the internet saying Jeff Gordon was screwed. Now he's in the Chase and people are pissed about that.

That's what people said about their decision to let the teams work on the cars during the red flag during the Coke 600.

There's a dangerous trend of Helton & France making decisions that go increasingly and increasingly outside the bounds of any rules.

I wonder where it ends.
