Hamlin's wins at Darlington both encumbered

Sorry if my post offended anyone. I found it out in the bowels of social media and thought I'd share. I actually like Denny, but I thought it was kind of funny.

The only vile humor that's allowable is your own :p

Would be kind of fun to take Denny's win away, and then you'd give it to Kyle. Then, this forum would eat itself because Kyle backed into a win....or maybe what the basement dwellers are really saying is that Kyle Damn Busch is your true 2017 Southern 500 Champion. Okay. Works for me. The Internet would break.

I laugh at all of this DQ 'em ****. You really want that kind of cluster? No. Would it remind you of grassroots racin'? Yeah. This isn't grassroots racin'. Open the ****** box, and let them play.

you believe what you want to believe, I don't have as much faith in the system as you do. The cries of too light connecting rods are still echoing in my brain.

There wasn't a builder on the planet that believed there was an advantage there. You know that.

If you don't believe the system, then you think that Denny wasn't cheating, right. I mean, which freakin' way do you want it? Make up your mind.

no what I saw in a couple of very brief shots at Darlington was every car I saw and it was about 6 total in two shots and it showed that every one of those car were dog tracking down the straight.

Some of the remarks are about to cross into personal. Get back on topic, or leave the thread alone until
you get hold of yourself.

There is always one common denominator in the threads that go sideways.

Denny Hamlin is the Lance Armstrong of NASCAR. Cheater was celebrating his two Encumbered wins at Darlington, while soaking up the accolades for his "amazing" drive in the Cup Race.

I agree that people should leave his kid out of this, so maybe NASCAR should ban Cheating Hamlin from bringing his kid to Victory Lane in the future.

Pious Joe Gibbs and his team are trying to deflect their cheating ways -- after being caught TWICE in one weekend...

Kyle was the obvious winner ................... took a 10th place POS and put it in a solid 2nd place position

Armstrong's wins were all taken away ........ he has the same amount of Tour de France wins as Denny ......... none. Try to remember though that your favorite driver (Kyle Busch) got three clean wins at Bristol recently :lol2:

You want it, right? DQ Denny. Be careful what you ask for.
Be careful what you wish for indeed. Conceptually, I am in favor of Nascar stripping wins, but it is a slippery slope. If a win should be cucumbered, then I guess it should be stripped... I think.

Nate Ryan reports that stripping wins for certain infractions is under consideration for 2018 and beyond. This would be a major change in Nascar's enforcement policy, one that I favor. Darlington certainly left a bad taste in my mouth... crown jewel race... stolen by an illegal car...:oops:

NASCAR America: Nate Ryan: Stripping wins from cars that fail inspection ‘under consideration’ for 2018

On Wednesday, NASCAR America analysts Jeff Burton and Dale Jarrett stated their belief that NASCAR should begin disqualifying race-winners when their cars fails post-race inspection.

NBC Sports’ Nate Ryan had some good news for them today. He talked to NASCAR officials about the prospect of disqualified wins becoming a reality in NASCAR.

“I think NASCAR is seriously going to consider stripping wins in 2018. I don’t think that’s going to be in consideration as far as a change in policy this season,” Ryan said. “I think it’s absolutely, I’ve been told, under consideration for next season.”

Ryan predicted that NASCAR could potentially look at “ratcheting up” penalties this season to prevent more infractions like the one that cost Denny Hamlin his Cup crew chief for the next two races.

You were singing a different song when the Fords out ran the Toys.
Making up a 20 second advantage has clearly exposed how much Nascar has given to the Toys.
Martins stage wins are not flukes. Here is the proof that JGR has been sand bagging until the Playoffs. Problem is Denny screwed up his pit stop and let the cat out of the bag.

Do the encumbered wins still go into the record books as wins as far as Denny's stats go?

It's rooted in the same thing the teams have been busted for, for the last several years. It's an area the teams have been trying to pull stuff on for quite a while. Basically they are trying to get the entire axle to move as the car loads in the corner, this exposes the right side of the car to more side force. It helps give the car air to lean on as it goes through the corner. Nascar took away the skew with the gen 6 car. Main reason being the cars are different along the sides among the makes. Keep them straight and these differences don't matter. Allow skew back and you have different makes complaining of an advantage.

The other critical area is the spoiler especially this year. Shifting the rear right and you get more air on the rear spoiler too. It will be interesting to see if this penalty nueters Toyota and Gibbs. It seems like this time of year nascar tightens up on something. It's happened with all the other major teams. Last I remember Penske got hit one year with a truck arm mounting penalty. After that they lost quite a bit of speed. It may be why teams do well in the season and it changes for the chase

"then I guess it should be stripped... I think."

You make Hank Kimball on Green Acres seem downright decisive!

Teams have been doing this for years....give the teams freedom to mess with the cars more and you might have different teams up front. Where was this whining when fan favorite Bubba Wallace won at Michigan? And if Denny was DQ'd dem cheatin Toyoder of Kyle Busch would be Southern 500 champ ;)

IMO NASCAR needs to take away the wins or lighten up on the reigns. Either way is fine by me but lets not turn the asterisk into a common form of punctuation.

Homestead winner car encumbered but keeps win and title? Sounds great.

Why do people blame the drivers if their car fails inspection?

I believe it is because the driver is the face of the team and the one seen as receiving the benefit. I don't believe for one minute that a driver knows he is driving an illegal car for plausible deniability if nothing else.

Fines are a joke. A 50k, 100k fine doesn't scratch the surface when it takes 15-25 million to run the car.
Bet the CC puts that fine on his double secret expense account too, :)
Points do hurt but DQ'ing and taking away the points and money will hurt more.

I wouldn't be in favor of a DQ in ALL cases, but in cases where CLEARLY illegal parts or modifications are made, then I say yes. I have also been concerned for a long time that the elaborate tire burn downs may be covering up evidence too. It also can and does cause a lot of pointless car damage that must be fixed. I know a lot of fans would be pissed, but it wouldn't mind if they were outlawed. Until Alex Zenardi came along, nobody ever did one anyway.

Pious Joe Gibbs got caught cheating twice at Darlington --

Cheater Denny "Driver Code" Hamlin drives the cheated-up team car to the crime, yet we're supposed to believe he knew nothing about it.

Joe Gibbs is corrupt and bad for NASCAR.
