Harvick to Stewart-Haas

:D So, it seems that the stories about RCR having 25 less horse power than the other teams is having an effect on future plans . ..Or Kevin may just like having his butt pinched.

Or it could be making room for the Dillon Brothers. Look out Burton, you're next.

I doubt RC was plannin on steppin down to the Dillon Brothers just yet. RCR losing Harvick is about the same as Roush losing Kenseth...shocking. Top ten drivers don't grow on trees and as far as I know , there aren't any running in the truck series.

If Harvick is leaving, this has to do with both performance and the Dillons being on their way. He sees the writing on the wall.

Kevin Harvick fans should be all for this. Kevin would be much better off especially with the struggles of RCR. RCR has struggled more than it has succeeded the past couple years. Kevin can get the job done, RCR can't and while I think the Dillon boys have talent, they won't be able to turn RCR around either. The ship is going down, sadly.

I am not surprised, I have always believed that there was a lot of mutual respect between Harvicks and Stewarts and it was a natural pairing. There both old school at heart, and passionate racers.

This is speculation but I am thinking there is a lot of respect between Harvicks and RCRs . But Blood is just thicker than water, and while Menards is average at best, he is still easy money that helps the organization. He is also conveniently not a top dog thread. Watching Bowyers exit last year probably prepared both Harvicks and RCs for the inevitable, maybe they mutually agreed prior before he signed with Stewarts.

Hendricks four drivers represent the refined side, while the Stewarts satellite is more the loud and proud types. Going redneck has always suited me best, I am looking forward to the move. It means Harvicks will most likely complete his career exclusively in Chevy, and I expecting better results too with the Hendricks hardware.

My loyalty to RCR ends February 2014.

So...Kurt Busch to the 29?

There's a thought. That could be a good move by Richard, IF he can find a sponsor. Sadly, I think Kurts days in a top ride are over. Instead of being part of the rise of Penske racing, he's on the outside looking in.

Or Austin Dillon. Burton's going to keep his seat warm for Ty Dillon.
If Richard wants to see the 29 in Victory Lane he'll choose Kurt over Austin.
I don't believe that Kurt's days in a top tier ride are over. Kurt Busch is as good as anyone out there he just has mouth issues.

Am I the only one that sees this as a stupid move on Harvick's part? Announcing you are leaving a team fifteen months out just seems a bit strange to me. I wonder how much support Kevin will get next year.

Agreed....I thing Kurts' career is all but over,,I hope he saved a lot of money over the years

I would think as a team they still have to perform to keep the sponsor happy

Similar to the KK move to Hendrick with the announcement being made that far in advance.

I think it sounds like a great move to go drive the 8th Hendrick car. Probably still much better than what they are producing @ RCR right now.

as much as i believe kurt can drive a racecar, i 'd be shocked if childress ever put a busch in one of his.

So...Kurt Busch to the 29?

I don't think your to far off. Kurt signed a one year deal with FR and RCR lets him in team meetings and FR got some help adding Kurt from RCR with a technical alliance. I wouldn't be shocked or disappointed to see Kurt in the 29.

If Kurt gets his lip issue in control then I wouldn't mind seeing him in a top ride again. He will mix up the usual ho-hums that generally occupy the top five positions in any given event. I like watching a competitive Kurt Busch. Only if he can keep his idiot mouth in check, though.

How much support is he getting now? I think Harvick sees the writing on the wall and knows Childress was going to can him the second Austin Dillon told Grandpa he wanted to run Cup.

Even if they wanted to, it may be impossibile to keep the secret that long.

Harvick made the chase as did Boyer who used to drive for Richard. I think RCR should have dumped Burton and kept Boyer but that is just my opinion.

Menard has won a race more recently than Burton.

Bowyer left RCR and he's doing better than he ever did at RCR.

The clock's struck 12 on Jeff Burton but Childress.

I think Richard is too busy looking for someone to hold his watch than he is to worry about his racecars. Maybe if he left the watch on the dresser top he'd be better off.

Speaking of which, I don't ever see Kurt going to RCR. Richard was ready to take off his watch over Kurt in the Winston several years back (2004?) after Kurt purposley wrecked an RCR car to get a yellow and then ran his mouth about it.

Then why does Richard let Kurt sit in on team meetings?

Tony Stewart, met with members of the media at Phoenix International Raceway and discussed future plans for SHR, the transcript in part:
Q) DO YOU HAVE A RESPONSE TO THE STORY THAT KEVIN HARVICK WILL JOIN STEWART-HAAS RACING IN 2014?
Tony Stewart: "Well, it's actually Dale, Jr. (SMILES BROADLY). And Marty Smith (ESPN Television personality and website reporter) is actually going to be in the fourth car. Yes, that's where we are at. (SMILES BROADLY) I will tell you this, when we have something to tell you guys, we'll tell you. I've always said that. You guys can throw darts, but when we have something to
tell you that's different than what we've got going on, we'll obviously tell you

Austin to the #29 team in '14, which will return to its original number.

Ty to the #31 the following year, when The Mayor steps out to start his political career.

Menard stays as long as the checks keep clearing.

Danica is let go as soon as the checks quit clearing.

Harvick and Stewart dominate plate races for the rest of the decade.

Kurt Busch never gets in another 'quality' ride, and eventually becomes the first former champion to S&P for Joe Nemechek. :p

Seriously, this can't surprise anyone, considering how many times Tony drove Kevin's N'wide cars. Tony would have taken him from the beginning if Kevin had been available.

The only name mentioned in your post that is capable of a Cup Championship is Kurt Busch.

I thought I saw Stewart's name mentioned in that post. Oh well, we all knew Tony was washed up a few years ago. ;)

For better or worse, these days being capable of winning a championship includes the ability to keep the sponsors happy; or at least not piss them off. That's how an otherwise capable driver winds up driving for the #51 and #78, which are definitely not capable of taking him to a championship.
