Harvick to Stewart-Haas

Fox Sports (via Jayski) reporting that no crew chief hired yet for SHR's #4 team, but Rodney Childers (currently the #55 MWR crew chief) is the leading candidate.

Yay for Kevin! And yay for someone finally takin advantage of the number 4! ;)

I betcha Jimmy Johns will go with Kevin too, but Rheem won't. You heard it here first.

I changed my number for this year, wanted a single digit, and it's the only one I like.

I love this move by SHR, Harvick is a perennial race winner and contender. He's a huge upgrade and in my eyes gives SHR a 2nd driver capable of winning the championship. I like how they went out and got him way before anyone was even thinking he would leave, thats called be pro active and thats really what teams need to do this day and age if they want to secure top talent. I've always thought of Harvick as being the embodiment of RCR total no nonsense kind of guy who runs hard and up front week in and week out but he's carried that flag for too long now. I truly believe he would have a championship or 2 by now had he being driving for Hendrick, it just seemed as though RCR was always a step or 2 behind HMS but Harvick was propping them up making their organization look better than they actually were. Just look at the wins across the board for HMS and SHR . Yet over at RCR, outside of Bowyer, Harvick was the only guy doing anything for years. So I don't blame him one bit for jumping ship, the only question is can SHR get their cars up to the level of the HMS guys. If they can, I'd say Harvick will be looking at a bunch of wins and runs at the championships too.
