Harvick to Stewart-Haas

I am really surprised that this story is being lost in the shuffle. To me , RCR potentially losing Burton and Harvick in 2014 is going to be a disaster. Menard will be their flagship driver and the kids are five years away from being chase contenders . With their engine program in disarray to boot , I see them having driver and sponsor issues. They need to pick up a big time free agent or there won't be anything for the kids to move up to.

A lot of things can happen between now and then. Who knows who will become available by then?
 
Well, it's either that or it's a mistake but I'm not sure that Fender will admit to a mistake so I'm going with that being the meaning. ;)

MoeJoe was pretty cool and called to congratulate me after Sundays race. When I said it isn't over, he thought I was messing with him. You can bet the 48 team will do all they can to be in position should something happen to the #2, like the HMS Torpedo finishing the job.

I'm thinkin that if RCR doesn't leak info during the off season that they have come to terms with an unnamed free agent for 2014 , it is because Budweiser is already gone. And no, I don't think Kurt Busch would be enough at this point .
 
If RCR wants a free agent in 2014, there are some good drivers available. But he may have to find the sponsors. Will CAT stick around after Burton retires is another question. I really don't care to see the black 3 being used, but it will get instant attention and help ink a new sponsor.

I am thinking without doubt it will happen, there's money that comes along with reviving the scheme. Even if the kid is a bust (he could also be great) in Sprint Cup millions of dollars will be collected before it would become obvious.

Will it get attention if it's not an Earnhardt driving it? If Dale Jr. was going to RCR to drive the black #3, I think sponsors and fans would go nuts. I think Richard Childress and Mike Dillon are the only ones excited to see Austin Dillon drive the #3.

It isn't that the kid might be a bust, it's just that he is a kid . He will likely improve at the same rate as Logano is improving , but he isn't going to beat Jimmy Johnson , Tony Stewart and the rest of the chase drivers on any regular basis. I really see little hope of retaining Bud and Cat sponsorships with the talent pool that they have . Heck they had better keep Elliott around for a while.
 
The only place Logano is improving is in NNS. He's hasn't matched his cup numbers of 2010.

Budweiser and Jimmy Johns to follow Harvick to SHR: When #29-Kevin Harvick leaves Richard Childress Racing at the end of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, he will take major sponsors Budweiser and Jimmy Johns along with him. Reports surfaced last week that Harvick will bolt RCR at the conclusion of his current contract to race full-time for Stewart Haas Racing in 2014. Multiple sources speaking on the condition of anonymity say that when the move comes, it will also include the sponsors that backed the #29 team in a combined 26 races this season; 20 for Budweiser and six for Jimmy John's.

People may shoot me down for this one, but what if Richard pulls a fast one and signs Kyle Busch? Possibly in the deal could bring brother Kurt along? I could see Kurt or maybe Kyle wearing the CAT colors. If so maybe Richard can convince General Mills to step up again. Kyle under the general meals flag and Kurt under the CAT? RCR needs a homerun, and right now that is the only one they can get. Kyle is working on something, that is why he is putting off signing with JGR

I agree, RCR needs a top tier driver. Unfortunately, I think Richard thinks his grandsons are top tier drivers. Either they aren't, or they'll need a few years at Cup to be Chase contenders.
 
I miss the old days of Earnhardt/RCR. I would love to see Earnhardt Jr in the black #3, but that would never happen.
No that's not gonna happen . In fact , if this bad news doesn't stop in a hurry , there isn't going to be any RCR. Jeffrey00 is right on ,they neeed a homerun and they need it very soon. Watch this story.
 
When does Dale JR's contract end with Hendrick? Jr just might have a great relationship and loyalty with Childress, after all he grew up at RCR. Bring in Dale and all that money, stick him in the 3 and after a few years he retires and hands over the 3 to Dillon.

Yep , that ship has sailed . I agree with Jeffrey00 , It's going to take a Kyle Busch or a Greg Biffle plus a new engine program, plus several big name sponsors . That friends , is a very tall order.
 
The #3 is reborn under the Dillon name. #29 no more. I'm assuming you are talking 2014 for the #29 since Harvick is still driving the #29 next season?
 
Harvick, he goes to SHR at the end of the 2013 season. Taking Bud and Jimmy Johns with him.
