Harvick to Stewart-Haas

Harvick, he goes to SHR at the end of the 2013 season. Taking Bud and Jimmy Johns with him.

Add the sponsors Elliott is taking with him and Ricard had better find some sponsorship money . Those kids better stay in school.

Bass Pro Shops is coming to cup for one of the Dillon Boys, right? And Cat is only one year into a multi year deal.

I don't think it's as bad as some think.

BUT KYLE IS! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH YEAH!

He wants that guy that beat his face in to be his BOSS!

:micro:

Correct. So back to my question...who is in the 29 for 2013?

Kevin Harvick. His contract with RCR expires after 2013 and it's been "reported" that he'll drive for SHR in 2014.

I don't get the connection between KuBu in the #78 and Harvick in the #29 for 2013

Ahh, I get it now. Brain fade. I thought he was going to SHR next year.

Good to see a sponsor staying in Nascar...even if it's with Kevlana Harvick;)

Yay for Kevin! And yay for someone finally takin advantage of the number 4! ;)

I betcha Jimmy Johns will go with Kevin too, but Rheem won't. You heard it here first.

Tony Stewart says "it's the end of my Schlitz days" in signing Budweiser but isn't lamenting it. "Now I get to drink the good stuff"
Props to whoever here noticed that the #14 crew was drinking Budweisers in victory lane after Tony's win at Dover earlier this year.

The way SHR has ran this year, Newman may come out on the good end of the deal if he lands at RCR.

If we're being honest, not sure RCR has run much better. I think the ECR engines are past their prime. Time to give it up and buy Hendrix motors, I think.

That is hilarious because just last week he was on Claire's show and said that unless a driver brought a sponsor with him he wasn't interested and was pretty firm sticking with what he has.

Jayski said that Quicken Loans would be interested in following Newman when there were rumors about him going to RCR.

True, but was just interesting because he really didn't sound like expanding at all. That if he did it would be with Bayne, but that he felt like Bayne needed to stay in NNS for at least another season.

1+1=2 there, I'd say.

See my above post. I wasn't very clear in my first post. In the interview he didn't sound too enthusiastic about going after another driver. He said of a driver came to him with a sponsor he'd talk, but other than that not really interested.

So I find it hilarious that now he is interested and actually seeking out the driver. Just a 180 from the interview. That is all.

Newman is pretty screwed IMO. No past provisional championship for a low level team, not hardly any opportunities out there. I don't see why anybody thinks he is going to RCR, if he did it would be a big surprise for me anyway. Austin is running every chance he gets in cup, putting deals together and making his own opportunities. No way he would do as well as Harvick, but he can do as well as Newman in cup or really close to as well. I look for Newman to boot out a lower level driver. On another note. Childress looks at Menard and Burton and compares them to Austin? I think Austin can hold his own with those two.

Looks like it way up in the air to me.

Childress planning on at least 3 teams in 2014: Richard Childress Racing will have at least three Sprint Cup teams and possibly four in 2014. There has been speculation that RCR might shrink from three to two teams after losing Kevin Harvick and primary sponsor Budweiser to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014. Team owner Richard Childress told ESPN.com on Friday that he will have a lineup of Jeff Burton, Paul Menard and "question mark." "We're going to have three race teams for sure," Childress said between practices at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. "Not 100 percent on a fourth." Asked if the third team would be fielded by grandson Austin Dillon, who has run six Cup races this season in anticipation of moving up from the Nationwide Series next year, Childress reiterated, "question mark." Childress recently said Ryan Newman, in his last year with SHR with Harvick filling out that three-driver lineup, is a candidate for the #29. He also has left open the possibility that Dillon, who drives the 3 made famous by Dale Earnhardt at RCR, could drive the #3 in Cup. Kurt Busch also has been mentioned as a potential candidate at RCR. Busch is ninth in points for Furniture Row Racing that has an alliance with RCR. Sources said RCR has a gentleman's agreement not to pursue Busch. Furniture Row general manager Joe Garone said negotiations to re-sign Busch are on hold as the single-car team attempts to make the Chase for the first time.(ESPN)(7-12-2013)

Certainly nothing is set in stone yet, but that's what Richard said at Sonoma when asked about it.

Not a done deal until the contracts are signed. Could be Kurt to RCR, Newman or Dillon to Furniture Row, four teams are also a possibility according to this article. My guess is a good as any right now.

ummm that was actually me who saw that. further we also had a member who swore he had some crewman well connected nascar friend that said it wasn't going to be bud as the sponsor. further I stated there is no way harvick would be signed that much in advance without bud coming on for the ride. I have been right on all counts.

IMO I hope Newman doesn't get a good quality ride and ends up with FRM or something. Never liked him much, and always thought he was past his prime.

Its interesting that SHR would confirm that Newman was gone this quick though -- I would think they would wait a bit longer just to make sure sponsorship doesn't come.

haven't read through all the posts, but wanted to toss out my 2 cents...

i've been a huge childress fan...and don't expect that to change. but really hated to see bowyer go. been thrilled to see what he's done in the ride he has. kinda the same for harvick. really enjoyed how he handled replacing sr. and liked it even more after watching how he raced. fully expect him to become a tony partner at some point. and hope for the best to each of them.

I do have a question for the Dillon naysayers. if you were childress, what are better options? i'm biased for the previously mentioned obvious reasons. but I also am thrilled that the grandkids have raced dirt late models. i'm a tad biased with my support of any racer that has spent time on dirt.

a final concern: childress sponsorship. those big $ gigs are tough to come by, right jack rousch? hate to see bud leave. I swear this is the next step to nascar franchises. and I just don't like the concept. the end.

jmo.

Tony probably wanted to make sure Ryan had enough time to find a quality ride.

I couldn't remember who it was. You are the man. :)
