I am here! Great atmosphere so far. I'm a bit unnerved with how crazy fast they'll be going with the wet track and they sit you CLOSE to the track wow.

First dirt sprint car race!

Hope you're enjoying it. I've probably watched more races at Lakeside than any other track. I used to be there every week when I lived in KC.

They did a great job with the track. I've rarely seen it be that racey for heats with so much moisture in it. Especially Heat 2, good stuff.

They're having track lighting issues fyi. Still rolling with vintage heats but this will need to be fixed asap

Fun, unique experience. I prefer asphalt to dirt as it's what I grew up with. I still like dirt and it's my current home track surface.

As a RACE fan that was crazy! The speed that those cars carry! The different lines! The near-hits and bangs suddenly avoided with a swerve not possible with an asphalt car. All great stuff. I also love being that stimulated... the noise, dirt hitting the face, the visual quickness of the cars... super awesome.

But... I spent $40 for about 15 minutes of green flag feature racing. Eh. I can't say I found it tough to get into because by the time I could actually start to process names, numbers, lines, track conditions, it was over!

Glad I did it, and if a major sprint tour ever comes to the podunk Desert Thunder Raceway, Utah- I will absolutely be there. Could I get into these cars on a weekly basis? It'd be tough... just not my cup of tea tonight.

Although I damn well shed a tear tonight being at a dirt track in Kansas with Kyle Larson racing in front of me, and 4 weeks from now I will be in bleachers at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, at the pinnacle event in auto sports, also watching... that same Kyle Larson... who raced in a literal mud field tonight.

I think to that point the feature was a bit too short anyways. 25 laps? Come on

No dirt sprint car race in the country runs more than 55 green flag laps. Most are 25-35 they are sprints. The 55 lap Iron Man is a special race and the technically longer 50 lapper at Port Royal is too.

Late models typically run 40-100 and most Big Block Mods run less than 50 though there are some races that run 200. Dirt doesn't run long races anywhere which is why is was a thing that the Bristol Cup races were 250.

I know this, 35 is a what it should be. 25 is not enough for a proper A Main

Brad Sweet wins his 3rd in a row by .012 secs. 4 provisionals made it a 28 car field for 30 laps.

No yellows … great racing.

It looks pretty flat in the corners. USAC sprints on at the same time. It's cool you can watch both at the same time.

I can't say my go to insult has ever been about the reproductive organs of rodents.
