He wasn't a wildcard. That win didn't come into play. He is in the Chase because of the spin and that he was gifted 10th in the points.

Well... it would have had he finished ahead of Truex in points.. e was one point ahead of Gordon who has no wins... without Newman winning he had a few more points on truex still.. he would have made it either way especially after the penalties.

  • Okay well as far as Joey should be concerned... he didn't know it was happening so he got lucky that Truex was in a position to miss the chase.. making MWR do that... regardless of how you look at it... as far as when it comes to Joey... it was extremely lucky.. also, who knows if another caution for debris might have come out?

He said in his opinion they weren't a chase team. Facts are that his resultw was good enough to get him in without another team owner pulling strings for him. HUGE difference. Performance wise Joey is probably good enough for top5 or top3. However his results this year he didn't deserve to be in the Chase. Sorry that is the way I see it and feel.

... And if Bowyer doesn't spin high chance or probability is that Newman wins the race. So yeah, it did come down to a spin...
 
You guys need to just chill lol... I don't care how it happened. Joeys in.. and will finish the best season of his career with the best position in the standings ever, most laps led, more wins (hopefully and probably), more top 5`s and more top 10`s than any other year in his career.... now that, I`ll agree is not luck.
 
I'm a Logano fan but how he got in is a stain on NASCAR and defending and excusing it is tinker toy logic.

Well.. you see, that's where ur wrong... he finished the regular season 10th in standings with a wild card to fall back on.. =deserves in the chase... I can make it even simpler for you lol

I'm not too worried about everyone else watching. I'll see it. Racing is racing. It's all in how bad have you got it. A great example is last weekend. I live next to a campground. Many of the campers there have golf carts. I was going out to check my mail last Saturday and heard all kinds of commotion going on down the road. From my vantage point I could see a bunch of golf carts lined up watching something going on. I quickly realized that they were lining them up to race between two sets of cones. I stood there and watched until the winner was crowned champ. Why the hell would I do that? I like racing. :cool:

Made the chase without another team purposely throwing a race giving two positions = Deserved to make the chase.

Wouldn't you want to help Logano get in the Chase too? Get Logano in, and you basically only have to fight 10 others for the championship instead of 11. :D

LMFAO I`ll bet Joey beats at least 5 drivers in his first chase. I never originally thought championship until lately... my main hope for the season is that he make the chase... and he did.. `you guys are obviously gona find whatever reason you can to keep hating.. but its all good I have no problem defending and rooting Joey on until he goes on to do whatever he can this year and comes out just as strong next year hopefully without the bad luck because we all know without some issues he would easily have been far inside the top 10 before Richmond.. well, either that or in denial about it... I don't need you guys to agree with me... it doesn't make a difference whatsoever.

It does suck that it had to happen like that.. but Im not gona let that take away from the bottom line, and that is.. as I hoped, Joey will be competing for a championship this year. How am I not supposed to be happy about that?

Honestly if i were in your position I would be happy my driver made it, however it would rub me the wrong way on how he made it, and I deny he deserved the spot.

Im looking forward to seeing how they can perform after they've been together longer. How can anyone not be impressed with what this team has done with a new driver that was pretty much written off by everyone, a new manufacturer, rookie CC, 25 point penalty... Give them another year or two together and I see no reason they wont be competing for race wins much more frequently and even winning the title. I know anything could happen, but right now I have every reason to be more confident in my driver than ever before and nothing any of you says will take that away from me.

It does kind of suck... but if he didn't have such a strong run coming to Richmond he wouldn't have been in the position he was. So I look at it like that.. regardless of how it happened Im not gona sit n cry about it, I look forward to seeing what he can do in his first chase.
 
The way they've been running lately. I look at it more as bad luck they weren't in a better position coming to Richmond more than it was good luck they were given a break and made the chase.
 
One thing Im worried about more than all this... is Denny Hamlin. I`ll bet he`s extremely butt hurt that Joey made the chase and I wouldn`t be surprised if something happened between them at the most inconvenient possible time :confused:

If Hamlin was going to make a move he would have done it by now. he is on cruise until the end of the year.

I hope so.. I would have thought he`d prefer to keep Joey out of the chase if anything but who knows, if Joey comes into Homestead with a chance... Im trying to think the JD and Joe Gibbs told him not to do anything because they like Joey, but you never know what`s goin on in crazy ol`Hamlin`s head lol

JGR isnt holding a grudge over Joey being 10th this year when his replacement is currently first. Denny probably still has a grudge, but I think he is waiting for the moment when they are both battling for a top spot before he does anything. I dont think anything he does will be an out of the blue cheapshot.

No I said Gibbs likes Joey, Im sure theyre happy he`s in they've always wanted to see him succeed.. theyre the ones who believed in him first so I never thought they had a problem with him.. Its Denny.. but Ive been waitin for it for a while I do think Denny will do something eventually, hopefully not to affect the outcome of the championship though. Who knows.. We`ll have to wait and see.
