If Kenseth Wins It All

Why would it be a big deal? It was what Carl had planned to do, but then he thought it would be a better idea to choke his chicken in Turn 1, crawl up the 22 pit box, and give Todd Gordon a big 'ole kiss.

You don't think he would intentionally put somebody into the wall do you????????

I think he and every other driver on the track would "move" another another car out of the way if need be. A lot more has been done for a lot less by every successful driver in Nascar.

Who my, yours, his or hers favorite driver may be has no bearing on that.

Still burns apparently. No, you won't ever get over it. Thank for reminding me of one of the most epic comebacks in sports history.

Why is it so epic? Kyle could have taken half the season off to go on an African safari and still won the title under the idiotic rules NASCAR put in place. Yes, he performed very well in the races he actually competed in, but that's not front page news. As for being one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, I'm having trouble thinking of another sport where the analogy even applies. When I think epic comeback, I think of Ernie Irvan returning to NASCAR and being a winning driver. And for the record, no, I'm not a fan of Ernie either.

Don't flatter yourself too much. My comments are about NASCAR and it's idiotic means of crowning a season champion. Insert Driver X into the equation..... it's all the same.

The problem is that Kyle wasn't on an African safari. Your analogy goes to **** there.
Sport is about performing with the chips are down. He did....under brutal circumstances.
You know the story about what he went through to win Sonoma? Probably not. Very few do. A handful of people on this planet with the balls to endure what he did.
I am a fan of Ernie Irvan.

na$car didnt receve the entry fee this year?

In the face of Larson, Blaney and HMS's big 3, Logano is about to become an after thought.

The barrage of Letarte/Waltrip/Gordon love for Elliot, Bowman and Byron will pack a force capable of knocking down Hoover Dam.

obsession- overides common sense and reason.

brutal circumstances? given time to recover/rehab from a wreck at the very first of the season, minimum requirements are to win A race(I think?), and be in the top 30 in points. Then wins the lottery race. Comeback of the century. I'm nominating ya for the fan hall of fame.

Why were the chips down? Once his injuries healed, it wasn't THAT BIG of a deal to go back and be fast it was already one of the fastest couple cars out there. It's certainly no worse than what Darrell Waltrip, Kyle Petty, Rick Mears, and Jim Crawford went through. I appreciate that Kyle had a difficult injury and worked hard to get back in the car as soon as he did. Don't make it more than it is though. If he has any permanent affects from the accident, it sure doesn't show. Heck, I pitted race cars for half a season with a partially torn ACL. Try doing that.

I don't think anyone is debating Kyle's grit (at this time, at least). We're not pleased with a system that lets someone miss as many races as he did and still be champion, regardless of the reason he was out.

picking the fly specks out of the pepper, he screwed up jumping the start and hit the wall in the Daytona Xfinity race. a bit of irony there.

Johnny Benson in the truck series wasnt offered a job after winning the truck series. He didnt get another job and retired. Geez like it matters, KFB sat out with a broken ****** half a year and won the "fixed" championship in nascrap. Ya wonder why fans are flocking to the exit's and aint coming back? Wonder no more, oh and have another beer. Or kool-aid.

Epic comeback? Kyle was favorited. He ran great and never had himself in a place where he had to comeback.

Johnson's 06, 07, 10 and 16 were come backs.

And dont even get me started on 28-3 ;)

Sometimes I think he's just trolling/getting a rise out of "haters". His logic is just play

Being severely injured, with bones protruding through muscle and skin, and missing 11 points paying races does not provide the driver with an advantage.

The then current format and rules package was followed by all teams and Mr. Busch was not the first competitor to be granted a medical exemption.

I am kind of wanting Matt to win it all since I dont see Kurt making it out the first round at this point, so go Matt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really pulling for your guy to make it through. It would be a bummer to see Stenhouse and/or Dillon advance while Kurt gets knocked out.

Nothing wrong with Matt being champion. BUT. I want him to get a win if he is to become champion. The thought of a winless driver taking it all irks me. <_< *cough* Ryan Newman *cough*

Kenseth only had one win back in his 2003 title year. That's what started this whole Chase / Playoff nonsense, NASCAR's desire to emphasize wins over season-long consistency.

I'd like to see someone win the title without an individual race win, just to see what dumbass format Brian & Co. will come up with in response.

greatest comeback in the last race for the championship also, I think he set a record for number of cars passed to win it also.
And to think, any additional single point having been earned by CE over those final 10 races would have let Carl retire as a Cup Champion. When people say those points don't matter, like Stage Points and the like, that season more than disproves that. Points matter..... each and every time.

I think some of y'all might need a refill......

Edwards seemed happy to simply hang around near Stewart while not being overly aggressive. His complacency cost him.

That, and Stewart went on an absolute tear!

I bet Carl has played that season over and over and there was probably a move during the season where he could have had a point or two. The recent Homestead race might have been the last straw.

Anyone find it odd that Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, and possibly Matt Kenseth are gone? What is the common thread?

Mark Martin and Jeff Burton are gone too.

But so are Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte, Geoff Bodine, Darrell Waltrip, Brian Vickers, and Ken Schrader, with Kasey Kahne and Dale Jr. on their way out.

What's your point?

a secret Ford retro virus "roushin****el" virus. Edwards and Kenseth were carriers of that, and they contacted "yogibbenszoo" ...took em both out. Biff is recovering on a mountain at his ranch, Carl is harvesting soybeans about now. Kenseth will be out of quarantine later this year.

Bottom line is Kyle didn't run the entire season, imo, it was a ttarnished championship. Kudos to him for gutting it out, but if it wasn't for Nascars gimmicks, he never would of been champion. As for Matt, I think if he wins a championship this year he retires on top

I don't see anything tarnished about a championship won within the existing rules.

The rules themselves? There ain't enough Brasso to get the tarnish off them.
