Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

This makes me sad ha ha I touched on this the other day. No response….we think alike. I definitely think this Coliseum race is a test trial to see if it’s feasible to do what you mentioned in your post

Plus, they've wanted to be in New York for years now, this could finally open that possibility

Remember, the Clash doesn't run a full field. Maybe 24 cars or so, not 37 to 40. It's a lot easier to fit a half-field in a stadium.

The photo does have both cars in it. Maybe a doubleheader but one series runs clockwise the other counterclockwise at the same time. Now THAT would be a big announcement and maybe make the Texas race almost exciting again. :sarcasm:
 
Just put it together Richmond lost their playoff race. Some are probably happy at those turn of events

Ben Kennedy is among those who lives in a world where money is no object, especially when it is someone else's money. Therefore if he wants to see a race in a colosseum he can.
 
I will say this, I think seeing what Motocross does at baseball/football stadiums, there's no reason this cannot be done. With that being said, I think the league that stands to gain the most here is the World of Outlaws. I can see sprint car racing absolutely taking off in these major stadiums. NASCAR on a bullring won't be horrible, but so much of the sport is the raw speed itself. It's why Bristol and even Martinsville stand out, the configuration of those tracks allow for pretty damn high speeds
 
What a crazy schedule at the end. Go to Vegas, then to Homestead, up to Martinsville, then back out west to Phoenix.

They already race dirt late models and open wheels in the dome where the Rams used to play in St. Louis.

As I mentioned before, having an event on the "dead weekend" before the NFL Super Bowl is a great move for Nascar, I believe. There are naysayers here, of course, but there always are no matter what the topic.

The "Most Stalest Thing" about the 2022 schedule is even having an all star race, no matter if it's Texas, Charlotte, or somewhere else.

The schedule doesn't address the two greatest strategic gaps, which are Montreal (or possibly Mosport) and Mexico City. Two huge opportunities continue to be ignored... shame on you Nascar.

Happy to see Gateway get a shot at Cup racing, but my expectations are modest. In IndyCar, the leaders can't even pass the lappers. It's like trains racing on a single track... have to follow the slow guy until he pulls off for fuel/tires. Hope the stock cars are better. I'm pretty sure they'll be better; I hope they are *a lot* better.

Hate to see the loss of Pocono's second date, was hoping to see the roval option applied there. I love Pocono, but the NA18D concept of low horsepower and excessive downforce has already killed the racing on the Pocono triangle.

Good move placing Homestead in a highly strategic position in the calendar. Among Nascar's greatest racing venues!

I had actually seen a rumor a few months back that the Outlaws were interested in the idea of stadium races

and because it’s the Clash, smaller teams usually wont have to make the expensive trek from North Carolina to California, back to North Carolina and then south to Florida all in the span of like 2 weeks.

What exactly would satisfy you? Not trying to be snarky, but I think there are several substantive changes in his schedule. And with most of the venues being owned by Nascar and SMI, I just don't see the possibility of clean-sheet schedule designs every year.

How many cars on the track at a time? Do they make pit stops for tires or fuel?

I ask these questions to compare with the space required for a 40-car field and a 40-stall pit road.

I honestly expected more new venues. I don't really count the clash since it's an exhibition.
 
With the new car I would be curious to see how it fares on the oval.

Try it out and see, I'm always down for experimenting.
