you know jr is not the best driver but he is far from the worst, he has won on every kind of track in cup but a road course, bristol, texas, dover, richmond, daga and daytona pheonix, etc. and he has 17, 18 wins alot of drivers would love to have his stats.
we all know jr gets more scrtney( my spelling sux) than any driver out there because of his dads success.
just sayin
Don't worry, mediocrity is just around the corner.
Sorry, just couldn't help myself.
It's great to see him doing this well for a change, Jr. that is.Top Dog update!
Lil E lost one position dropping to 3rd in Champioship points with 369 points. Butt he's still Top Dog at Hendrick's!
JJ down two positions to 8th with 324 Championship points.
KK climbing the hill up to 17th and 246 Championship points.
JG still in the toilet loosing six more positions into 23rd! with 232 Championship points will his luck change? Not looking good for The Chase!
Hendrick's still @ 199 Wins and Holding
Gordon will be there. 16 more races to qualify. Pretty much a win and you're in situation anymore.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver is suffering through his worst season ever results-wise, but he's actually been running well.
No driver has been more snake-bit this season than Jeff Gordon, whose luck has been so bad that it makes one wonder if he walked underneath a ladder in the presence of a black cat.
But just how bad has it been? Let's look back at Gordon's season so far:
• Daytona: After flipping in the Budweiser Shootout, Gordon's was running fifth near the halfway point of the Daytona 500 before his engine blew.
• Phoenix and Las Vegas: Gordon finished a respectable eighth at Phoenix and was decent at Las Vegas, finishing 12th. No bad luck there.
• Bristol: Gordon was fighting for a spot in the top 10 when teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. made slight contact with the No. 24 car, which cut Gordon's tire and sent him crashing hard into the wall. He finished 35th.
• Fontana: Gordon was running fifth, but two pit road penalties – one for dragging a gas can and one for an uncontrolled tire – made a surefire top 10 vanish and instead left him in 26th place.
• Martinsville: Gordon was running alongside Jimmie Johnson battling for the lead when David Reutimann's car infamously stopped on the track and brought out a caution. On the subsequent green-white-checkered restart, Clint Bowyer dove underneath Gordon and spun the leaders. Instead of a win or a top-two result, Gordon finished 14th.
• Texas: A fourth-place finish at Texas marked his best result of the season and moved him to 17th in points.
• Kansas: A dropped cylinder late in the race took away a top-10 run and saddled him with a 21st-place finish.
• Richmond: Gordon cut a tire during an early restart and had to pit under green, putting him multiple laps down. He finished 23rd.
• Talladega: After starting on the pole, Gordon had an overheating issue which made him drop to the back. Then he was caught in a wreck and finished 33rd.
After 'Dega, Gordon dropped five spots in the standings to 23rd – the deepest he's ever been at this point in the season.
Seven times in 10 races, Gordon has had something happen to him out of his control. Yet he refuses to acknowledge the black cloud that has seemingly been following him around.
"I don't believe in bad luck," Gordon said after his pole-winning run at Talladega. "I don't. I feel like you make your own luck. ... Because if that were the case, that means that when you win races, you're doing it because you are lucky. I don't think people win races because they are lucky. They put themselves in positions.
"I guess if there were 43 cars driving along and I drove over a little pinhead that poked a little hole in my tire, then I would say that was pretty unlucky. But the stuff that has been happening to us is not luck."
Whatever Gordon wants to call the issues that have plagued him this season, they've all been costly.
When you add everything together using a conservative estimate of where he would have likely finished, Gordon has left a total of 144 points on the table. Amazingly, those 144 points would put him second in the standings – just two points out of the lead.
But facing the reality of the situation he's in, Gordon knows there is only one thing he can do: win and get a wild card spot.
"Getting two to three wins, I think we are capable of doing it," he said. "I think a lot of people would go, ‘What? You're crazy. Look at where you are at in points the way you've been finishing.' But, the performance has not added up to the results. We are very capable of winning races."
That is, of course, if Lady Luck allows him to.
I dunno, right now Keselowski sitting 12th in points with 2 Wins is holding one of the Wild Card spots and Newman in 13th with 1 Win is holding the other. JG better hope one of them moves into the Top Ten or Bowyer, JJ,Truex, Harvick or Lil E with No Wins fall out of the Top Ten.
Either way JG needs to get his mess together!
a driver interview after a race is like asking a politican a question, ...when he spouts out all the sponsor's names, thanks his crew back at the shop, says how they worked their butts off silly quote, takes a drink of some product as required by law, sprays it over the crew....you forgot what the question asked was.......no problem though, for it is as lame as the answers and so repetitive...........if only there was a real person in NASCAR who was not afraid to be real......I'm kinda hoping that this thread is just a precursor to his Martinsville victory this weekend giving HMS their 200 total. Say what you want about him but there are 32 other drivers in the top 35 that wish they were were he is in the standings right now.
A little side story on Jr. that I was just reading here. It is about a recent interview that Jeff Gluck, of SBNation, did with him yesterday. I'm sure some of you will find a way to slam him about that story as well but here it is anyway.....
Top dog you say.........think about it.....as long as Jimmy Johnson is there, he is number one....I like all the team of drivers Hendrick has....however if I was to bet, it would be that Johnson will be the top Hendrick driver again at the end of the season.....none are my favorite driver after the Bill Elliott era ended.....
I stand behind exactly what I said...I am well aware of the standings, ...my reply was that they will change and JJ will again be ahead of the other three drivers at Hendrick's.....it is my opinion, time will tell who is right.I'm sure if you take the time to check the stats :http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2012/data/standings.html
you'll find that JJ has trailed Jr by a large margin all season and is still currently Behind. So I stand by my Statement that Jr. Is Top Dog at Hendrick....... points don't lie.
I expect Brad to make the chase, but not the top five and not the championship...not yet.I'd be surprised to see Bowyer and Truex stay in the top ten and I expect to see Brad K move in to the top ten but still Jeff Gordon is 70 points out of the Top Ten! Heck he's not even in the Top Twenty which you have to be for the WC Win thing to count! 16 races sounds like Alot butt JG is in a Deep Hole.

I'm thinking Keselowski is going to be going into the Chase off of points rather than as a wildcard. I'm also thinking that the wildcards will get in on a single win. JMO
How in hell or who is BATman? Jimmy dull...me thinks I see some jealousy here.....I am no JJ fan but damn, like someone said, facts don't lie....ask yourself, how many drivers wish they could do what JJ has done? What a bummer , batman is a Jimmy Johnson fan .Didn't see that coming . Jimmy is so dull.

As soon as the Cobb female driver wins a race, I will close my mind to intelligence as some here seem to have already done.........no offense to the woman named something Cobb, it is just that she is so out of place...my grandma could lap her in any race and could do it faster if Grandma used a car.....sorry, somewhere being serious got lost here......
Who is Superman...Clark who? what is considered a mild mannered reporter? Is it a female gossip column? Nah, I only partake in reality ....I only relate to real people like Al Bundy, a hero of mine.....I don't care for stuff that is not real......but don't mind me, like what you want, wear earings and carry a purse if you like....just allow me to avoid you....nothing personal though.....Why hasn't Mark Martin ever won a cup championship?...just thought I would add that since some here are stuck on fantasy mode. You don't know who Batman is? I suppose you prefer Superman...you know with Clark Kent being a mild mannered reporter and all.

Actually Jennifer Jo is a much better driver that Jimmy was at her age . She has the talent to win a lot more races than Jimmy , she just needs to get into a Hendrick car with a great crew chief . And yes Jimmy is quite dull and has been compared in wit with Digger .
Please tell me you're kidding? She has been terrible in nascar and bitches and complains at every opportunity.
Just playin with the troll.

Jeff Gordon, ouch! Just when I thought all of his bad luck was behind him.

It's been awful this year. If the car is right something unforeseen happens, like 3 left rear flats. If the car is wrong they can't adjust it correctly. I am disappointed as a hardcore Gordon fan his lack of emotion about this.
I hope that's the case. Right now, he's the guy you don't want to be sanding next to on a golf course when a thunderstorm rolls on through. I swear someone is pushing pins in a replica of this guy somewhere these days. He's too good to be where he's at right now but a win or two can turn all of this around quick. As the leader of his team he needs to stay positive. Also, he may be venting his frustration off camera. Rest assured they will figure out what happened last night regarding those flat tires.
