Junior scared to RACE at Dega

Causes a wreck?....you cant cause a wreck from that far back.

Oh my goodness I think you are losing what I'm saying.

Lets say he DID try, and say he made a few holes, made a few moves and tried one more and it causes a huge pile up and he gets in it. He would still get trashed and you know it. If you don't understand now, I can't help you.

No sweat Blaze...all good. :)

Like I said, I wish he tried but I can see why he didn't, to much a risk, and would probably have to wreck half the field and miss the wreck to have a chance from 20th. Had he gave up with like 50 or 60 to go, I'd agree here.

Where yeah I wish he might have raced a bit, with how everyone was three wide he'd have to make a stupid to even get to the front, and even at that point he'd get hate for that. At least he was honest, would you rather him say that he tried but couldn't get anywhere?

I am not being a smart ass when I say, "Hell, yes, lie like a son of a bitch, and tell me you gave it your all." Seriously, what has he achieved by being "honest"?

Rather a driver be honest than lie. If he gets a fine or penalty from it, well possibly deserved as he didn't give 100% but if not, maybe NASCAR sees it as a safety move.

We can agree to disagree on it, because we can discuss it all we want, but will either of us really change each others mind?

I dont blame Junior for laying back, I am glad Kyle didnt though, I dont expect stuff like that from Kyle

It would kill me if I EVER heard Kyle talk that ****. You gotta understand man, when one of my TRD Toyotas wins, it is huge for me. Makes my week. Even better when Rowdy does the dishes (as I mentioned earlier). It's huge. I look forward to this stuff all week, and if one of my guys--particularly Kyle--was to reveal that he tanked it, it would be damn near impossible for me to wear his gear. Never quit. Bust your ass. Live on the edge. Mr. Junior isn't going to win this thing by being careful. Mr. Junior hasn't won enough to pass up an opportunity at his track with his people going ape ****. I can't imagine where his head is.

No, but do understand that I respect your position. I really do. As a fan of this sport, I respect Junior and all he means to NASCAR. Appreciate your perspective and conviction.

Same with you, I can respect yours. Good thing is we are done with this type of racing for a few more weeks, we will see Jr driving hard to get more wins, hell I'm impressed with him this season.

Yeah, I was a little confused by Junior's decision to lay back at the end, but even Mikey, who finished somewhere back there with Junior, said there was nowhere to go because everybody was three wide at the end. As a Junior fan, do I wish he would have tried harder? Sure, I guess. Am I gonna sit here and insult and deride him for what he did and said, as if it was some sort of indictment on his entire racing career and he's now exposed himself as a fraud and a coward? Uh, no.

Proud of my other guy Brad for giving it 100% though! :sarcasm:

Well I saw it.

Do you have the telemetry data from Jr's car? The guy said that there was nowhere to go, and others are right he's not Sr., he's not going to push the issue. Hel I wouldn't have pushed it if I was him.

Nowhere to go? I don't understand what that means.
Maybe he should have just parked it then.

He should probably just hang up his driving gloves. The guy obviously doesn't care anymore. Not enough to be behind the wheel anyway. I have to wonder if Nationwide is second guessing their decision to sponsor him over the next three years. I can't believe that they'd want to even associate themselves with him.

Sarcasm I hope?

Now you're just being silly.

I know exactly what you mean. :D

The more I think about this I don't know that his public apology to his fans was enough. I think they should make a spectacle of him by having him make another apology, live on the FOX pre-race, to his fans during driver introductions and then immediatly slap him with a P1 rules infraction for not giving 100% under the most recent racing requirements. Then, NASCAR needs to get its rule book pencil out and write up a new rule that places him in the rear of the field for the start of all of the remaining races for his lack of effort. That'll teach him what it means to ride around at the rear of the field.

I think Nascar should put him in the stocks so we can all throw tomatoes at him.....til he realizes he has to push the pedal to the metal or get TFO

I guess we are all going to look at this differently.

Like each and every week that I'm home to watch a live race, I tune into Jr's scanner feed. Good strategy gone bad was his downfall. Early on in the race he and Letarte learned that they didn't have a car that ran well in the pack. They decided to take on two tires during one of their pit stops to gain positions on pit road. The strategy worked and they were then running up front. Once there he was able to stay there. Late in the race they calculated that they didn't have the fuel to make it to the end with a GWC. History shows many cautions in the latter stages of the racing at Talladega. They played the numbers. They opted to pit for fuel when others didn't. This dropped him well back in the field. They learned quickly again that they were unable to make the charge up through the field. Their predictions of late cautions came true a couple times. He wasn't making it to the front again and really, that's what is important. No chance to win. The points don't matter for him with the win. No need to lose a good car. I think they got out of there just fine. 16th or 26th. What does that really mean @ Talladega. In Jr's own words..... It don't mean sh!t.

People need to get over it and move on. Especially the non Jr. fans that seem obsessed over this.

I am actually a fan of his, I just didn't like what I saw on sunday. If you did ....cool.
Its just an opinion.

I don't cheer for Jr, win or lose. He made the right call from what I could see was happening at the time and with only two laps left.

I also listened to him on raceview for the last third of the race and I agree with you. He tried and couldn't get any further toward the front and in my opinion made a wise choice. Smart move.

After Daytona they impounded his race wining car for display, like all of the more recent Daytona winners. The car he was driving this past Sunday was a brand new car designed to the same specs as that Daytona car. They wanted to use that car for their restrictor plate program this season if possible. If you were listening you also heard this mentioned a few times during those late race cautions. At this point in the season with him having a win the only thing that matters are more wins. 6th, 16th or 26th are basically all the same as far as the results go. 1st is the only thing that matters. He got out of there intact. Hopefully that car will produce the same results this July @ Daytona as the similar car did in February.

Yep. That's exactly what I heard. If it was impossible for him to win then save the car if at all possible for the other restrictor plate races.

If anybody is going to lay down using the one win and your in, it would be Junior. He isn't going to lose his ride or his sponsor like most of the other drivers if they did so. He still was interviewed even with his back of the pack finish?

I was busy watching my favorite driver trying and failing to get to get to the front in a race that wasnt really a race. I dont really understand why any of them even bothered. They might as well have drawn straws to determine the winner at Talladega, then they could have went to a local short track and showed us a real race. Just imagine them racing on a track where they could pass another car and even have a fight or two afterwards

Its a RACEcar. Its not right that a racer drives to save a car for another race.
I understand why he did it....his logic and yours, but it ain't right.
It ain't right for the track nor for the fans.

I don't have a problem with what Junior did on Sunday, it's just a product of this dumbass Chase format we have in place now. Junior was just using it to his advantage.

He obviously did not give it 100 percent and needs to be fined. If he doesn't want to race get out of the car

Wait, I thought his excuse for not going for it was risking another concussion. Now it's risking destroying a car.

Remember this is Dale jr; we ain't talking about some premier cup driver here. I think he just pussed out.

I think I just felt Dale Sr roll over

Maybe better off not starting the race or just refusing to be part of the plate side show. Junior is a race car driver, I really didnt see a race Sunday.
