Junior scared to RACE at Dega

I think we're gonna see more and more shenanigans as this season wears on. Just a matter of time before we have a situation where teammates are running 1-2 in the closing laps of a race, the leader with a win and the 2nd place car without one, and the leader letting the 2nd place car go by.

That would be funny. Wonder how his sponsors would like it

Probably not too much. I dont know why Junior didnt just say "I couldnt get to the front" and leave it at that. He didnt need to share any of the other stuff in his interview. Telling the fans that you didnt want to risk being hurt or risk hurting a car shouldnt be shared with the world. I still dont blame Junior for his actions, just his words

Nothing wrong with exercising a little "self preservation" once in a while, if he hadnt told the world about it we wouldnt be having this conversation

funny ...nobody's mentioned guy who pulled in front of jr on his last run ta front in 3rd lane.
reason he halted run jr said .

He obviously did not give it 100 percent and needs to be fined. If he doesn't want to race get out of the car

What I find funny about this mindset is that if Jr. did push the issue, I bet half of the people on here saying that he should've pushed it would be calling him a dumbass for causing a wreck.

Damn if you do, damn if you don't.

Wondering if maybe Junior has always talked this kind of ****, but with his new commitment to social media somebody is actually listening?

Welcome to my hell.....What if Kyle Busch said this crap? What would you be saying? Good job Kyle? Everybody sang the praises of the new format because it "forced" these guys to run to win, but whoaaaaaaa, now that Junior tanked a race, it's good strategy now. This place would have blown up if Kyle Busch said the same thing. Again, I am not a race car driver. Junior is--and a damn good one. I respect him and what he is to NASCAR. For the love of God Junior....STOP TALKING!!!!!

Honestly, I believe Jr. If he said that he didn't have any place to go, then he didn't have any place to go. That goes for any driver that says this, whether it's Jr., Busch, Hamlin, Harvick or Johnson. It's pretty damn easy for all of us here to play Monday Morning Quarterback, but we're not in the car going around Talladega at 200mph, we can always claim that "Oh we would've done this, or we would've done that." But until you're actually in that exact moment, you can't claim ****.

I agree 100% on a driver doing what he needs to do--he just needs to shut up about it. What the hell was Junior to achieve by talking about it? I'll add this.....I love the fact that Kyle hates losing so much that he can be a complete ass after finishing second. Love it. I feel the same way--just no microphone in my face. It would kill me if he talked that Junior ****.

So why did he turn around and go the other way?

I don't see the big deal, guy gets jammed and takes it like a man. No need to press the issue at that point there wasn't a reason to root-hog his way to the front with so few laps left. I'll take racin smart over trying to be aggressive and stupid.

Agreed 100%

I must have missed it, would someone please point me to a video of Jr saying this please?
Or is this statement just the product of a vivid imagination?

I doubt it. JJ caused a big wreck and no one here had much to say about it.

What I find entertaining is the people that were claiming "win and you're in" makes drivers go all out to win, completely missing the potential for it to take away the incentive to get the best possible finish once a driver has a win.
Jr took a dive because a good finish at Dega means squat after RIR.

Anyone that thinks Jr was really trying at Dega is kidding themselves.

One thing is for sure. If I ever heard Gordon say he sandbagged at the end to salvage the race car instead of going for a win, I'd be shook to the core.

My Yahoo racing picks are hard enough with out guessing if the driver will decide to save the car (I had Jr last week).

maybe brain will penalize jr for sandbagging and telling the world
For the future, guys will slow down and not say anything about it

Try looking at the link on the first page, that is a quoted statement. I am sure I saw it on a vid as well.

Liked your post for that hilarious gif, but this Junior fan ain't shook. Ha ha.

Actually I think that gif is supposed to show rustled Jimmies

Rustle My Jimmies
“That Really Rustled My Jimmies” is an expression that is used to convey feelings of discontent or discomfort in response to someone else’s post in imageboards and discussion forums, most notably on 4chan. To rustle one's jimmies means to make someone discontent or to bother someone.
Man 1: "This guy is your boyfriend? He's worthless!"

Man 2: "That really does Rustle My Jimmies man..."
