kurt Busch out at Penske

I also bet his sponsors didn't like him telling Trevor Bayne to "Stay in the closet" the other day.

What did he say that for?

If Busch hasn't really been fired yet, I don't see how Penske could actually keep him. The toothpaste is already out of the tube.

What did he say that for?

I believe it was during whatever show that was where Gordon did his dancing. Trevor had came out to give away a truck to a fan and he was talking to the other drivers about how he was young and hadn't been in the clubs yet.....Kurt just out of nowhere said "Just stay in the closet". When asked he wouldn't repeat what he said.

You know good and well Carl is gonna get better equipment then David and so is Matt and so would Greg

I feel the order of who got the best down to the worst they had is this

Carl
Matt
Greg
David

I feel he got what ever was left over and it wasn't the best that Roush had to offer so he couldn't perform even if he was at a top team. That's just my opinion and I could be wrong so I hope David does get the 22 ride and hopefully can perform better.

It is my understanding that Jack Rousch told his crew chiefs and drivers a couple of years ago.
"If you think one of your teammates has something you don't have then GO GET IT"

Roger Penske: "I appreciate the victories that Kurt has brought Penske Racing and our sponsors over the past six years," said Roger Penske. "While I am disappointed that Kurt will not be racing for our team in the future, both Kurt and I felt that separating at this time was best for all parties, including our team and sponsors. I wish Kurt the best in his future racing endeavors."

Wouldn't Hendrick give JR the best he has? I mean JR is his biggest draw(fan wise) so why not give him the best?

Johnson has a better consistent performance than Jr. I'm sure if Jr. was five time Champion, he'd be getting the best equipment as well.

Here's one . Which car got the better Penske equipment this year 2 or 22 ?

Well, now I can believe it lol

It sucks to be Kurt, but he did it to himself and he had plenty of chances to address his issues. NASCAR will be more boring next year without him.

From Kurt.....

"I am grateful to Penske Racing for six very productive years," said Busch. "Together we won a lot of races -16 in all. Leaving a great organization and a lucrative contract is not easy, but it's an important step for me and allows me to take a deep breath to work on things that can make me a better driver and a better person. I want to personally thank Roger Penske for the opportunity that he has given me."

What about Mark and next year Kasey ?

I say Mark was below Jr even I don't know..and I don't know Kasey's not came over yet.

I dunno, he did show some improvements this year.

That he did and I liked that maybe he's not 3rd after all

Wouldn't Hendrick give JR the best he has? I mean JR is his biggest draw(fan wise) so why not give him the best?

True true maybe Jr does got the best as I did state he'd suck either way lol.

@KurtBusch22 no longer exists in Twitter world..... That didn't take long.

Kurt Busch 22 no longer exists in the real world either.

This is kind of stunning, IMO. I think that the contrast between Brad and Kurt really showed Roger what he should expect, and racing talent is no excuse.

On a side note, I'm starting to become concerned with Brads drinking. Peeing in your car and shooting guns in your yard before checking your line of sight for people are some serously bad decisions on his part.

FWIW, I think Kurt Busch is one of the best drivers on the circuit. He is a throwback to the days when drivers could vent and their every word was not picked up by media and people anxious to deep six the guy. Not that Kurt isn't deserving of the less than flattering media attention, but he is one heckuva driver.
From the owners POV, Penske had no choice and if I were him, would have let Kurt go as well. But with this admonition:

"Kurt, you've screwed yourself at every turn. You've made irresponsible comments, gestures, and moves on the track. You have an anger issue and are long overdue addressing it and making a personality change. There are two paths; one is to continue as you are and figure chances of securing another first class ride are narrowly limited, or, the other choice is to get your personal issues under control and hope someone will pick you off the manure pile. Your choice. Think it over."
Kurt is not done and if, if, he makes a personality adjustment, can be a valuable resource for another team.

As for Sam Hornish in the 22, he's not ready.
Either Stenhouse or Regan would be good alternatives, Regan being first choice.
YMMV.

He is a decent driver I'll give him that, but this time he pretty much drove the stake deep by his actions. I can't see any quality team taking a chance on him, he has burned too many bridges and ticked off too many people in the sport.

If he pee'd in a Ford, I understand completely. I have no use for someone who is recklessly in using a gun, none.

Well, Eva just lost a ton on the divorce settlement. He signed that lucrative contract when they were married, and she could have laid claim to future earnings before granting a divorce. Not so any longer.

I'm hoping this sends a wake-up call to Kyle. However, Joe Gibbs seems to be more forgiving and tolerant of Kyle's antics.

Still, I've got my fingers crossed that Kyle will rein in his temper. He's too talented a driver for the sport to lose.

lol Good point. But he peed in a Dodge, and that was irresponsible. :D

I watched after the lap, and Jr was trying to shut Brad up. "You don't need to incriminate yourself", and he was dead serious. He still lives on Jr's property, and Dale sure doesn't need that sheet going on.

It's always a shame seeing talent self destruct.

Kurt Busch out at Penske? UPDATE mutual agreement to part ways: Penske Racing officials are meeting Monday to determine the future of driver #22-Kurt Busch. Penske officials were contacted by ESPN.com on Sunday, but would not confirm or deny the meeting over Busch's status, while the Charlotte Observer reported that Busch has been fired. Busch has been involved in several behavior incidents on the track this season, including the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Busch made an obscene hand gesture leaving the track after his transmission failure early in the race. He also had a profanity-laced tirade at ESPN's Dr. Jerry Punch and his camera crew in the garage moments later, which went viral on YouTube. NASCAR later penalized Busch $50,000 for the two incidents. Penske officials, along with team sponsors Shell Pennzoil, publicly reprimanded Busch afterward. Sources confirmed that Shell Pennzoil officials have spoken with team owner Roger Penske and expressed concerns about Busch continuing as the driver. Penske spokesman Bud Denker and Walt Czarnecki, the executive vice president of Penske Corportation, said they will stand by their comment made after Busch was fined by NASCAR that they will not comment further until their internal review is complete. Kurt Busch had an earlier incident with reporters this season at Richmond in September, the final event before the Chase started. He had to be restrained from a NASCAR.com reporter on pit road. Busch also tore another reporter's interview transcript in half after being questioned about recorded comments that he denied making. Last week in Las Vegas, Busch said he was seeing a sports psychologist to deal with his anger issues.(ESPN)
AND Speculation points to David Ragan as the leading candidate for the job. Ragan spent the 2011 season with Roush Fenway Racing, but his future has been in doubt since the team lost sponsorship for next season. He earned his first career Sprint Cup victory this season, at Daytona International Speedway. Other candidates for the job include David Reutimann and Brian Vickers two drivers who drove in the Sprint Cup Series this past season but are without a ride for 2012 and Sam Hornish Jr., who has previously driven for Penske at the Sprint Cup level.(FoxSports)(12-4-2011)
UPDATE Penske Racing announced today that it has reached a mutual agreement with driver Kurt Busch to end its driver/race team relationship, effective immediately. The team will evaluate its options for the driver of the #22 Sprint Cup Series car in the future while Busch will seek new opportunities with another race team. "I appreciate the victories that Kurt has brought Penske Racing and our sponsors over the past six years," said Roger Penske. "While I am disappointed that Kurt will not be racing for our team in the future, both Kurt and I felt that separating at this time was best for all parties, including our team and sponsors. AND been told Ragan has been released by Roush Fenway Racing and Ford to pursue other oppurtunities. Supposedly he was in line to run the #51 Chevy in 2012, but now hearing he will sign a one-year deal to run the #22 Dodge for Penske.(12-5-2011)

A bird in the hand proves to be bad news for a Busch .......... again. :p

Shell statement: "Shell and Pennzoil utilize our motorsports program to gain technical knowledge for our products and brands and to promote them to consumers in a positive way. As such, we support the mutual agreement by Penske Racing and Kurt Busch to end their driver/race team relationship, effective immediately. Moving forward we will continue to work with the team at Penske Racing and to evaluate the best options for our motorsports program."

From here.

David Ragan will take the place of Kurt Busch in the Penske Racing stable.

Several sources have confirmed the Roush Fenway Racing driver will be named the new pilot of the Shell/Pennzoil Dodge in the aftermath of Busch's official departure from the team, which was announced on Monday.

Ragan was out of a Cup ride when sponsorship issues forced team owner Jack Roush to shrink from four to three Sprint Cup entries next season. He had been linked to Front Row Motorsports or to a possible Nationwide team for 2012.

But with the decision to part ways with Busch made, Penske has reached out to Ragan as his replacement.

Ragan was released from a personal services contract he had with Ford Motor Company that will pave the way for his move to the Penske stable.

Speculation was Ragan was set to sign a deal to replace Landon Cassill in the Phoenix Racing No. 51 ride but now instead will agree to a one year deal with Penske.

Wow, someone has already updated David's Wiki page to say he drives the 22 for Penske. That was quick!

This wouldn't have happened 20 years or so ago. Times have changed and with the internet and cell phones, there is no privacy. Costs are way up and sponsors have to be happy. They want good drivers and robots to sell their products. Kurt is a good driver but is a terrible person to represent anything. I wonder now if his brother will learn from this. It's very hard to change one's personality to the better. I really can't say that I will miss him though.

I really can't say that I will miss him though.

the sad thing is neither will nascar, aside from a few fans. he has nobody to blame but himself. question is will he take this opportunity to get his head on straight or simply become a footnote as a talented driver that threw it all away. other drivers should take heed. talent alone won't guarantee success in nascar.

I think it's too early to count on Kurt not returning to NASCAR. Who knows what may be in the cards for him? Stranger things have happened.

This from Jim Utter after talking to Ragan.....

David Ragan will be meeting with Penske Racing officials about 22 car. He has NOT been offered the job. Feels good about it.

The short end of it: Expect no Penske decision anytime soon.

So again, who the heck knows?

DPK, what owner would want him? Maybe his brother is all I can think of.

DPK, what owner would want him? Maybe his brother is all I can think of.

I don't have a clue who would want him but like I said, stranger things have happened. I just don't think that he's done. It's a looong off season. JMO, that's all.
