kurt Busch out at Penske

SPEED sure isn't doing any favors to Kurt with that little video package lol

Yeah, they hammered him. I was waiting for them to make fun of his ears and call him a wife beater. They are still saying 'dissmissed', even though the ONLY proof they have is that they parted ways.

Was it Wednesday that David Ragan was meeting with Roush to get out of his contract? Maybe he knew something was up.

Man if Penske picks up Ragan does that mean next time Jack is letting a driver go he can ask Roger to handle his light work? Ill bet hes got a car for him.

....Whether Kurt knows it or not, Brad's the better driver...

Brad is great, and probably hasn't peaked yet, he is more mature ,the better man, and better team player. I would prefer him any day of the week.

But as for getting up on the wheel, or the pure driving in it's simplest definition, I dunno.

Kurt's raw talent caught my eye early on, he is extremely talented, for driving styles Kyle is an animal, Kurt is finesse. That is the saddest part of his bio, with an ounce of decency and common sense, he could have been one of the all time greats.

No doubt Kurt has talent but what he seriously lacks is the ability to overcome a car that is not perfect. I'm sure he "knows how" but he would rather bash the team than try to work with the team to get the most out of an ill-handling car. Every single race I've ever watched several of the drivers have cars that don't handle perfect. The best "drivers" try to explain to the CC what the car is doing and what it needs. And the best teams try to help the drivers by suggesting lines around the track that other cars are using with success. Didn't see that as much with Kurt.

Kurt has raced 7 seasons with Penske, so I'm not real impressed with his Cup win total. He seemed REAL excited coming into the chase, and even bragged that JJ was jealous of Penske equiptment. Then, once again, Penske fails to turn up the performance in the chase. If you watch the Punch incident, Kurt really gets upset when he is told by Punch that his car's transmission parts went through Tony's grille, and that's when he goes off.

No excuse, but the guy definately wears his heart on his sleeve.

What a royal azz! Wonder if he will realize that in his career he has gotten fired twice and been divorced.

Not much to it, he screwed himself. I don't care if was 30 or 40 years ago anyone who treats people the way he does is gonna screw himself.
"A mutual agreement" to part ways to me means no more than either quit of your are fired.
To define that if he quits Penske owes him no more money on his contract and if they fire him it will be because he violated a morals clause in his contract. Either way no more money.
A great driver but a bigger jerk

We may have this all wrong. I watched Kurt's video, and if he really is upset, he's one hell of a actor. He seems genuinely happy to be moving on, and Shell says they are OK with that. Since Penske doesn't have a driver lined up, you have to wonder if Shell would just boot Kurt without knowing their options. If Kurt really decided to back out on his own, they wouldn't have any choice but to accept his decision, because forcing a guy to drive the car isn't an option.
The most accurate post so far.:)

Kurt and the captain by mutual agreement decided it was best not to work together.
When Kurt left he asked the Captain, I am gonna need some time to get better.

"On Wednesday I am going to a stop cussing seminar. Wednesday night to a cussing anonymous class etc....

Could you take my parrot? He is my best friend, and every night we cuss each other out, for the companionship.

Ole MF bird is so good, he would even call my GF all the good dirty names while I showered to set the mood. I am gonna miss the SOB (wiping tears) but we have to move on. "

At first Roger thought the bird was funny, but then it became tiresome, and finally, when the he had important guests, the bird's bad words embarrassed him very much.
The dirty talk to the female guest was just plain disturbing.

As soon as the guests left, the Captain angrily shouted at the parrot,"That language must stop!". But the bird answered him with curses. Breaking into a well crafted and very personal hating Roger Penske speech. Roger was pissed and the Parrot roared with laughter of a barbarian, while calling him more vulgar and effeminate names.

He shook the bird and shouted again, "Don't use those ugly words!" Again the bird cursed him.

Now he was really angry. He grabbed the parrot and threw him into the refrigerator. But it had no effect. From inside the refrigerator, the parrot was still swearing, laughing itself to tears while repeating the vulgar effeminate Roger names.

Roger opened the door and took him out, and again the bird spoke in dirty words and curses. So Roger opened the door of the freezer , threw the bird into it, and closed the door.

This time there was silence. After two minutes, the man opened the door and removed the very cold parrot. Slowly the shivering parrot walked up the man's arm, sat on his shoulder and spoke into his ear, sounding very frightened:

Whispering "Jimmie effing Spencer.....

Wait, wait, Mr. Penske! I am sorry I learned my lesson. I promise nothing but the kindest words from now on....

"I'll be good, I promise..."

Later on the parrot asked

"The turkey in there.. what did he say?"

Ya know I thouht this would happen to Kyle before Kurt but after watching videos of Kurts rants from this past season on youtube, i'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. Most folks know Roger Penske is not a man who puts up with such blatant disrespect for for not only him & his equipment but others as well. I mean look at the way Kurt talked to Jerry Punch in the garage at the race's finale in Homestead, Punch has been a pit reporter since Kurt was in diapers how dare he disrespect him that way even if it was off camera. For someone who was living the dream of being a cup driver, driving a Penske prepared racecar with "Pennzoil", a charter sponsor of motor racing as a whole & especially carrying on that legacy of Penske-Pennzoil teamwork excellence that Rick Mears & Al Unser made famous before him, he was very unappreciative. I'm sure the Pennzoil folks & Roger together sat down after Homestead & made the decision, probably telling Kurt he could either voluntarily step down or be fired. His best bet now is if Roush will assign him to the #6 car seeing as how they released Ragan, as for sponsorship, dunno, maybe Massengill feminine products...

The challenge for him now is to walk the talk, which might not even be good enough. Because while he may be one of the 10 most talented stock car drivers alive, as of now he has no affiliation with NASCAR, no sponsor to represent, no team to drive for and seemingly no opportunity better than the one he just lost.

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes pro-stock or something else, and possibly runs a low pressure, part time deal in nascar. Maybe Tony could use him to get, and keep, Danica in the top 35.

What do you think of Scott Speed taking the 22?

It would certainly be interesting to see what he does in top-tier equipment, but he doesn't have a very solid cup reputation so he'd certainly have to prove himself worthy.

scott didn't do himself a favor by suing red bull for what appears to be a legitimate release. i don't think roger would consider him.

IDK, Tony has punched him in the face before. Doesn't sound like a very good friendship lol

I can't understand Pennzoil being interested in Ragan, Speed or anyone else who had their chance in cup and didn't get it done. If Penske is looking for a 1 year place holder while Sam runs NW, those guys would do just fine. If Roger is looking to better his race organization, the only guy I see out there is Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

The one thing you can't teach is speed, and Ricky has it in spades. Ragan, Reuti and Scott don't. They all lose it when they try to push the car, so they lay back and tool around.

Long time ago, and business is business. SHR stands to make a ton of money if they can keep Danica in the big show while she learns the car with no top 35 pressure.

I would think that Pennziol/Shell would want someone for more than one year with all of the commercials that they make. PLus I don't think Stenhouse can see over the fenders of the car. Unless he gets on his tippytoes.

I'd rather see Speed in the 22 than any of the guys without a drive for 2012...Not sure if I would suggest Elliott Saddler because of his past Cup experience........I do actually believe Parker Kligerman could do the job as Keselowski did in his debut...Parker needs a good coach and I think BK could be helpful to him since they are friends and could work as team mates....( just a thought)

4 years ago, I was touting Keselowski as a better driver than Logano. I felt that JGR missed an oportunity by not grabbing him for the 20 car.

Ricky will be as good or better than Kez is 2 years into cup. Watch this kid, because he is the real deal with a pure racing attitude built for stock cars. Just like Kez did, Ricky will move another of the old guard out of chase contention.

Parker shows signs of real talent, but he's not ready. He should be in the 22 next year, then we'll see what he really has.

I'm really hoping it's Stenhouse.

I think Stenhouse will be worthy of a CUP ride - but I don't know if he's mentally prepared for it yet. He had a GREAT season in N'wide and showed a lot of growth. I think that Jack is gonna do everything he can to keep Ricky at RFR. But it may be a bit soon for a full-time CUP ride for Ricky. He might unseat Trevor Bayne in the 21 for some CUP experience.

I still think that Hornish makes a lot of sense for the 22. Even though he hasn't set the world on fire in NASCAR, he has a championship pedigree and a successful history with Pennzoil. And Roger likes winners!

I think it would be a mistake for Stenhouse to go to Penske -- then again, I thought it was a mistake for Keselowski to go to Penske instead of wait another year and look how that turned out for him.

Kez didn't want to go to Penske, and sat on the offer for a year. When Hendrick started pushing MM to extend his contract past 2012, Kez knew Rick wasn't going to do anything for him. Good thing he made the only move he had, or he would still be in NW.

So he went to work at Penske, and like Pop Eury said, he's the one fixing that organization.

So did I. At the time I figured he would just take over for Mark Martin. As far as Ricky goes, where will Roush put him in Cup? Biffle, Edwards and Kenseth aren't leaving anytime soon and the #6 might be gone so maybe he's better off leaving.

Ricky back in N'wide and maybe run some CUP races in the 21 or a part-time effort in the 6? Jack should not let him get away. He's gonna be a good one!

This thread reminds me of the old joke:

Q:"What do ya get when ya double Kurt Busch's bad attitude, triple his immaturity and half his driving skill?"
A: Kevin Harvick?

Hell yes.

Eh,anyhow, Kurt wasn't 'fired' from Penske. And even had he have been, Penske is at best just a very good second tier team in the sport anyhow.

"Denker( Bud Denker, senior vice president for Penske Corp.) was also quick to stress that Busch was not fired and the split came after weeks of discussions about concerns both sides had regarding the direction of the organization. Busch has always been outspoken about how he believes things should be done, and regardless of his incident at Homestead with ESPN reporter Dr. Jerry Punch, both sides had been moving toward a split."

And Kurt will do fine, he can handle the pressure-----anyone remember how he performed at the very next race after he and Mr.Excrement(Spenser)had the little disagreement?

Ragan should go to the 22. It will serve to highlight the mediocre level of that ride, but the reality is, Penske won't find another Kurt Busch for that seat anyhow.

As for Kurt himself, former champion and one of the very best wheelmen in the sport? I would love to see him somehow hook a ride with Richard Petty, personally.Doubtful, but I think it would be great for that outfit.

Regardless, wherever Kurt goes, outbursts may well follow, but then, so will wins.

Jack said he can't guarantee Ricky more than a part time NW ride and race Cup for the Wood brothers. They want Trevor to run full time NW for the championship, and Jack is already out of pocket for the 17 next year.

Jack said Ricky needs to drive full time next year, either with Roush or someone else. For all his faults, nobody does more for new talent, and I don't think Jack would stand in his way.

I hadn't thought about RPM. That would put him back in the Roush fold. Wouldn't that be fun.

This is true. It might be the best for Stenhouse to go elsewhere. At this point, any sponsor who goes to Roush wants their decals on Carl's car.

Allgaier, Stenhouse, Reutimann and Speed are all worth calling for Penske.

Okay this one had me ROLFLMAO. Petty's 74 year old ass would kick Kurt down so bad he would never recover. He definitley would not tolerate his treatment.
