Kurt Busch out at SHR after 2017

Your right StandOnit and those rides were all that was available to him. I think if he is out at SHR he will take a big cut to stay in the game or stay at SHR. JMO

Kurt has some company in Daytona,Florida waiting on Monster Energy to decide whether to continue sponsorships in NASCAR.I have never seen so many top tier teams with unsettled sponsorships this late in the year. This isn't even counting Goodyear.

Just because his contract expired doesn't mean squat, Gene can say to him this is what monster offered, this is what I put in, here is your cut in the deal. You in or you out?
77 is open, , would make for a really strong team.

The snag is that Gene won't know what Monster offers for '19 until it's too late to look for another ride.

I'm hoping that's where Kenseth ends up.
OK, Charlie, get out your crystal ball. Allenbaba posted that the odds are "greater than a coin flip" that the 77 will not race in 2018. So assume, just for a moment, that the 77 team shuts down. What is Matt Kenseth doing in 2018, according to your crystal ball?

I think the 77 is more a matter of Toyota sez than what Barney wants when it comes right down to it. Kurt has driven for him before in a self sponsored ride, Truex has sponsorship, Barney has said he will still pay the extra crew, it all smells fishy at this point to me. It's all there, all he needs is a driver.

Dude, if I could predict what happens with any accuracy, I wouldn't be wasting my talents here. :D

Like SOI, I'd also heard Barney is going to pay the #77 crew next year. Obviously just paying the personnel is cheaper than running a team. But I recall the original plan was for Suarez to be in that car this year. -IF- everything is still in place for that, then somebody's getting that ride.

I don't see SHR as wanting another older driver. If Matt doesn't wind up in the #77, a competitive car, I'd rather see him go to the house than futz around in a second-tier RCR ride. Yeah, that's right, that's what I called it.

Tony Stewart should have invested in a Starbucks franchise rather than a NASCAR team.I saw where Starbucks earnings soared 82 percent in first quarter as customers spent more on each visit.A cup of coffee is a cup of coffee to me,I just don't get people's love for Starbucks.Maybe I'm too cheap.
you don't know much about Tony or your B.S. ing

Today's lesson:

right·size
ˈrītˌsīz/
verb
US
gerund or present participle: right-sizing
  1. convert (something) to an appropriate or optimum size.
"organizations are beginning to rightsize computer systems to suit themselves"
    • reduce the size of (a company or organization) by eliminating staff positions, specifically when business conditions necessitate such a reduction.

You are smart not cheap.

A fool and his money...

Nope. 77 is all on Barney. If he wants to backstop it ($$$), he can. But he's choosing not to. So anyone who wants to drive the 77 needs to come with a full season of sponsorship. Has nothing to do with TRD.

Kenseth will retain sponsorship with DeWalt/Circle K/Tide and carry it over?

Might just be able to cover most of his races.

doing what you love is over the head of many.

I think you are being unnecessarily hard on yourself as I doubt doing what you love is over your head but it may not be possible in your current circumstances

I'll take that as a pass on Kenseth.

That's quite unfortunate and it seems like he might be pushed out like Biffle was last year with Roush.

JMO but I think Biffle had reached the end of the road and if these guys in their late 30's to mid 40's don't retire there will be no room for the young guys to get a start in the series.

another snag is that Monster got a heck of a deal as the series sponsor, do they even want to sponsor a car.
Maybe, Monster likes to sponsor race cars, and they do sponsor a good amount of them.

Yeah, Lee is a good worker, I give her a break on this one.
Wish she would of explained it like Allenbaba did though.
Kurt probably owes her a "Really?".

From the outside looking in, the Gibson / Busch duo is one of the more
interesting relationships in the garage. Just a great story that has a
better chance of continuing than being busted up.
