Kurt Busch to Furniture Row racing.

Regan Smith rumor today of possibly heading to JR. Motorsports next season. o_O Yep.

that would be nice. Regan is still young enough to work his way back to cup with a top team. He'll have to rewrite the NW record books to do it, so time will tell.

I don't see an issue with that. He's a good driver and that'll be a quality ride and a chance to show he can be consistent, win races and battle for championships. Unfortunately for him Furniture Row is trying to grow and they had an oppurtunity to get a top talent driver that can take them to the next level. FR would've have been foolish to pass on Kurt.

I've heard little rumors for a while that one of the problems with the Eurys was their resistance to spending the money required to get established quality drivers. And before anyone pounces (FB) about Danica its been widely speculated that they had no say whatsoever in that deal and also some of you would scoff at the use of quality driver concerning her. If true this could be the first quality driver hired in a while, post Eury's, but not the last. OK FB lets hear the Bad Brad stuff.

Do you have a link, GP?

There, now we're even.

Jr seemed to state clearly that the reason was Eury Sr let his pride keep him from using the resources at HMS. I'm not sure why Sr hates Rick so much, but I read that's why he refused to work for him.

Do not say I'm getting into your head also, that is no place for the timid. :D I heard and read that it was a lot of small to medium things including what you and I both said above. We will never know for sure but its fun guessing. :D

Damn straight. I love guessing. It got me though life OK.

Well good luck to Kurt and even more to the people at Furniture Row (yes Kurt they are people).
I think Regan would be a good fit at JR motorsports. He was rookie of the year at the cup level back when driving for DEI and got screwed with all the changes there. He could very easily be a contender for a Nationwide title next year.

I sure would like to see Regan Smith Win in that 78 car at Talledega AGAIN!!! :D that would dive me the ****s and giggles!!!

I wanna see Kurt Busch in a more competitive car than the 51, so this is a step in the right direction. Who knows where Burton will be after next season if he doesn't start running better.

I posted this in the Random NASCAR thread but it fits here better. Kurt will move to the 78 car after Talladega and we might see AJ in the 51 car for the rest of the year and maybe beyond that.

I doubted Finch's cries of closing shop in 2013 cause he's beat that drum for 6 years.
I think that would be the best deal for James and AJ, pretty good driver and all eyes on Phoenix racing, all publicity is good publicity.

I thought the same, then Matt Clark said that Chevy sent Finch a 2013 car to help him out, and he said no thanks and sent it back. I hope he changes his mind after the AJ experiment this year. Then again, if what someone said about a switch to Ford next year is true, it would make sense.

I said that in the random thread cause I find it odd that someone is willing to give AJ another shot so soon and the fact he didn't snatch up Briscoe's ride in the IRL for Penske. Be great to see Finch be able to stay in Cup, he's been around a long time with little reward. Just if he'd stop crying wolf that'd be great.

I know him and its definately not crying wolf. As far as a race fan goes they dont come any bigger than him. His finances drain to a point and he decides to quit before the bottom of the barrel gets too close then another cash influx from sponsors and old friends happens and he tries again. He has no thoughts of being another HMS, RFR or RCR and he would like nothing better than to just break even so he could stay in the sport that he loves. I admire his tenacity.

I remember you saying he hangs at the bar sometimes. I guess he saved a ton dumping Kurt early. He was paying that guy too much while giving him a chance.
He is in favor of adult beverages for sure but not hanging out at bars exactly just dropping in to hang out with his construction workers, clients and friends for a few minutes occasionally because he is a hands on employer. But your right about him saving enough money the rest of this year to try to continue for a while with a less expensive driver. Hope he makes it.

Listened to Finch on xm radio . He seemed certain that because teams will need to build new cars for next year , he will not be back. He will run out this year with his existing cars ,but cannot afford to start building next years cars.

And as I stated I have my doubts on that. I personally feel he'll be back.(Which I hope he is, he's a good guy and has put a lot in) He's in talks with AJ Allmendinger to replace Kurt and a potential sponsor.

I wish Kurt well in the 78...Hope he has a few good runs this year in it

I like the idea of him getting 6 races with them this year to get everybody on the same page. I think with the effort Furniture Row is putting in now, an increased RCR involvement and Kurt not happening to worry about sponsorship will all come together for him.

I think this is key because they will be working with a new car next year and good communication will be real important. They don't want to be wondering if it's the car or the communication.

It'll be a 6 race head start for 2013. Everybody will be using next years practices and first couple races adjusting to their team's changes. There's no negative in making the switch early that I see.

Busch is going from an underfunded team with HMS gear to a better funded team with ECR stuff which - with the exception of Harvick's two good runs - can barely get out of it's own way. Most weeks the ECR powered cars are racing each other for, at best, 15th.

Yeah, it's good move for Busch but an uphill battle for sure. Temper, temper temper ;)

RCR sure took a hit when Waltrip hired some of their top guys . Childress says they are bringing in a bunch of new people for 2013 . It may not be the engine program that is the main problem. We'll see who he gets.Seems to me that engines that are down in power show up mostly at the big tracks , while chassis problems show up everywhere.

The only place their motors seem to be working is in Nationwide.(The tapered spacer may be helping) None of the teams that use them in Cup are doing anything. Even in the Rolex Sports Car series teams that use ECR are off the pace.

I believe that as I can't see Childress continuing to run as poorly as he has the last couple of seasons without doing something about it.

Kurt bombed out at his last two rides, one of which was with a quality owner. What makes you so sure he will do well with Furniture Row which is not one of the better owners.
