Kurt Busch to Furniture Row racing.

Kurt bombed out at his last two rides, one of which was with a quality owner. What makes you so sure he will do well with Furniture Row which is not one of the better owners.

If you're asking me, I never said I was so sure that he would do well with Furniture Row.

I beg to differ, James Finch is a quality owner, he just does not have a top tier organization due to lack of funding, In My Opinion

I wouldn't say he bombed out at Penske. Winning races and making Chases isn't bombing out. As far as the Finch deal, what did people expect? That Kurt was gonna take an organization with 1 win in 20+ years and turn them into a weekly threat? Furniture Row compared to Hendrick, not so good. Compared to Finch, a lot better. I think the only thing that's really working against Furniture Row is no second car.

The way I see it, Kurt left a lower top tier team and landed at a quality first ride for rookies looking for experience. Now he's with a lower second tier team with furniture row. If Kurt is able to raise FRR to THE top second tier team, it will be because he has finally matured enough to adjust his wheelman driving style to one of working with the team to makes the cars better so he doesn't need to wheel it all day. why do I think this is the case?

Now for a Brad fanboy injection, because I don't want to dissapoint my fans. :D

Brad isn't a wheelman. He methodically works with his CC to raise the teams performance. Phoenix got not only their first and only cup win with Brad, but a top second tier run of 3 top 10's in 5 starts. Kurt left Penske over frustration with their performance during the chase. At that time, Kurt was driving cars that were being built based on HIS feedback while Brad drove Kurt's used cars. Now that Kurt is gone, the cars are being built based on Brads feedback, and they have improved greatly. If Kurt want's to raise FRR's performance, he needs to talk to someone who knows how to get it done.

From WIKI. :D

John: "Its a 15 minute run from dragonfire crossing to lookout mountain road, but we need it down to 12 minutes. Police are lining the road, the clutch is hot and slipping, and Rich can't drive like that with a cast on his arm. Who are we going to get?
Ken: "Lets call KES! ... he's a wheelman."

lol................ but this is pure fantasy. If they want a wheelman, they need Kurt. :D

Did Kurt have a year contract or a week to week deal? Having had a driver quit mid year I'm not thrilled when a driver walks out of a contract. Week to week completely different.

I think I heard kurts deal was basically week to week

They had a handshake agreement to run the year. I'm sure it was a mutual split as no side benefited from this deal all year.

I agree, unless both parties agree on the split.

James Finch of Phoenix racing fired back at Kurts comments that he was racing in 4 year old cars. "We had to do that because we wrecked 14 consecutive weeks and were forced to run older cars".

Wouldn't 4 year old cars have wings?:D

Finch said on xm radio that he told Kurt to take the deal. Finch does not expect to be back next year.

Don't know anyone who is sure that Kurt will do well next year . What he did do ,is go from a team with no sponsor to a team with a sponsor . Big move in anybodys books .

I am a bit confused.... Didn't Kurt go from a team that was sponsored by the owner to a team that is sponsored by the owner?
Lets split that hair a little farther . He went from one owner/sponsor who says he has run out of money and wants to get out of Nascar, to another owner/sponsor who has money , just hired a name crew chief and driver , and wants to move up a step in Nascar.

Kurt burned bridges at Roush, got kicked out at Penske, and Finch was unhappy with him. He now ends up at Furniture Row. He had better get himself straightened out quickly or this could be the last stop.

per jayski.....

Phoenix Racing will finish season: Kurt Busch's impending departure leaves James Finch's #51 Phoenix Racing team with a high degree of uncertainty. Despite speculation to the contrary, crew chief Nick Harrison said the team was committed to running the remainder of this season's Sprint Cup schedule. "We're business as usual, moving forward," Harrison said. "We still have Dover and Talladega with Kurt and really think we can end with a win. We're running the full season. It's just a [matter of] who is going to drive." Harrison says Phoenix Racing has spoken to Regan Smith, the driver Busch will replace for the final six weeks this season in Furniture Row Racing's #78 car. Finch also is said to have interest in recently reinstated driver AJ Allmendinger as well as David Reutimann, who filled in at Pocono when Busch was suspended for a week this season.

So after Dega who is happier???? Finch to be getting rid of Kurt or Furniture Row for hiring him after his last fiasco?

I'm going to go with Furniture Row. Kurt led a plate race today in an unsponsored, one-team racecar. I don't like Kurt personality-wise but he's the best driver so far that Furniture Row has dreamed about driving their car. Kurt AND Furniture Row are both taking a step forward. I would not be surprised to see the 78 in Victory Lane in 2013. Like him or not, Kurt Busch is one of the best drivers in the Cup Series today.

Watching Kurt today made me realize his brain disconnects. There is no way he takes off while the emergency crew were reaching in the car if his mind was functioning properly. It's a little scary, IMO.

Another thing that I didn't get was...the whole thing with NASCAR telling Kurt to "STOP!!!" for [apparently] driving without a helmet...yet it was ok for Jimmie Johnson to hitch a ride, sitting halfway in the door of Dale Jr.'s wounded racecar (with a couple of flat tires)
WTF?

I laugh at how now he's using the excuse they are using for Kyle "his passion for racing" for racing like a idiot.

Jimmie did have his helmet ON though.:D

I was watching all of the 51 crew hugging Kurt yesterday and I was trying to figure out if they were sorry to see him leave, or just ecstatic he was finally leaving. :)

UPDATE: NASCAR is reviewing whether Kurt Busch will face further penalty for ignoring official requests to stop his car after a lap 98 wreck on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. NASCAR parked Busch for the remainder of the Sprint Cup race because he drove away from the wreck with emergency workers still in the process of providing him and the #51 Phoenix Racing Chevy assistance, and because there was emergency medical equipment on the track. NASCAR officials told ESPN.com the incident is under review. Penalties typically are announced on Tuesday. Busch is on probation through the end of the year for verbally abusing a reporter in June. He also was suspended from the Sprint Cup race at Pocono.(ESPN)(10-8-2012)

And as Kurt said yesterday he brings these things on himself.
