Kurt Busch to SHR?

I'd like to see him stay with FRR. He seems to do best with single-car, unfunded teams. He had some good runs with Finch last year, and has been up front a lot this year. He should hang in there with those guys where he is The Man and gets all of the best support and equipment, and I assume without a lot of sponsor issues, too. And yeah, it does make a good story that he is able to bring a small team up like he has done.

I remember Andy and a few others here spouting off about how Kurt was going to be finished in NASCAR because no one would ever hire or sponsor him. I got ripped for disagreeing. Maybe they'll apologize to me someday. :D

You know I'm sorry Matt .:(

You know whats funny? I think Kurt would do better if he stayed at FRR. They have been outperforming SHR lately and considering I dont know if SHR is ready for a fourth team, Busch may get dud equitment. Whereas if he stayed at FRR he would likely have seasons even better than this one, because he has had bad luck and is also getting used to a new team. Stay Kurt stay!

And Newman did get screwed but no one ever accused Stewart of being nice, plus Newmans an a**hole himself.

that is a point to be made but the problem with FRR and kurt is they are missing the little pieces. mainly a decent pit crew. That team gets killed on pit road. They need other small pieces that go along with a winning car. if you are kurt I think you have to be wondering how laps are lead, quailifiying is done well, he is at the top of the practice sheets, but no wins. I think 2 wins have been taken from kurt because the pit crew sucked. same thing to an extent happened when he ran for finch. they just don't have a full package that extends beyond a fast car.

Thats true...but maybe with Kurt's success they can get a better one?

I would think Kurt

Yep, the little team that could is a heck of a story. I would be confused if I were he. Just about any team he is getting offers from he feels he can beat. Going from top dog to team player might not work.

It seems to me that Kurt enjoys the small-team life - well, that is, when the team can be successful. FRR is a good team. The pit crew is kind of lacking, but that can be addressed. I would think that a win for FRR would feel a lot better to him than a win for SHR. Just my two cents.

the other thing FRR missing pieces does for kurt is it makes him over drive the car. If you are kurt the only way to win is on the race track and in your own hands. a poor pit stop makes you loose 8 spots, the only way to get them back is to drive the car beyond prudent limits. he is carrying the car too much and its easy to see.

Kurt will probably go where ever the biggest paycheck is.
I don't think so, not at this time in his career, I would think right now he is more concerned about being a champ again. The money will follow, but the best place to give him a championship is where he will I go IMO.

Maybe he would be worse of if he had to go with a new crew chief . I wonder if Berrier is signed with Front Row for next year. He and Kurt seem to be a good combination right now. That chemistry is hard to find.

I wouldn't hire him. Talented ass, but he has a mouth that doesn't realize when to shut up.

I might have been one of them, idk if so sorry haha, hell I've been become a fan of his lately and would love if he got a win.

As far as this forum is concerned there is a parallel between KuBu and AJ Allmendinger. Last year virtually everyone on here wrote both of them off. Myself FB and a couple of others stood up for AJ and took the flak for it, the rest wanted to de-gonad him and his few supporters, this year he is gaining a lot of peoples respect back the same as KuBu by racing hard, showing their talent and focusing on racing instead of having their brains in neutral.

FRR should offer Kurt part ownership and a lifetime contract before they lose him. If Kust feels they are totally committed to winning a championship someday, I think he would take a good offer.

Yep, but we won't grovel for an apology. We toadies are too proud for that kind of thing. :)

Thanks for reminding all of us just how grateful we need to be, your truly a legend in your own mind.

Someone called and said that you were still being your usual dickhead self which doesn't bother me at all, I just consider the source and have a damn good idea of who you really are and could really unload on your ass if I wanted to but not yet, so I unblocked you and there you were. And for the rest of the members I posted that to show how perceptions of a driver can change over a short period of time and not to pat anyone on the back and by the way ted you were one of the few defenders I was talking about so you can tell the story to yourself as often as you like.

I don't see a problem with fans expecting Allmendinger to earn back the respect he once had.

Well the drug thing is why I like motorsports. This same kind of thing has been going on for years in stick and ball, there are thugs and drug addicts galore that get free passes to continue doing what they do. Nascar nips it in the bud, has a treatment plan in place and it is over and done with quickly. Just me, but I am not supporting the other, it lost it's innocence years ago for me anyway. We have high schools here that relocate whole families so they are in their district, free housing, cars etc. just to win a ball game? high school football coaches make more money than teachers with a doctorate degree?

a note about FRR notice they don't have contingency stickers on the car other than the required ones. that tells me funding isn't an issue.

Yeah good point. With the success they have going on, if they need sponsors besides furniture row, they have plenty of space to slap them on there.

There are so many pieces to this puzzle. For Kurt, it's not nearly as simple as "best $$$ offer" or "best chance to win a championship". It could very well be apples to apples. BUT, there are so many other considerations going on right now that have very little to do with $$ or speed of car. I know a lot, so I need to watch what I say, but in a very vague nutshell, here's a common sense consideration:

There are two VERY different owners and team atmospheres at play here. SHR is a big NASCAR team with NASCAR lifers participating in a NASCAR business. On the other hand, Barney Visser is a very rich man who loves speed. His business is elsewhere. So, here's one example of how those two entities differ:

SHR...pro...big marketing machine. Lots of exposure, lots of opportunity, lots of networking, lots of merchandising. Kurt has the potential to grow his brand significantly. Would likely have his own merchandising trailer. Con...lots of commitment, and lots of hard work away from the track.

FRR...pro...owner is the sponsor, just wants Kurt to worry about racing. Very relaxed atmosphere. No real obligations. Goes fishing a lot. Great for flying under the radar and rebuilding an image. Con...very little opportunity for Kurt to GROW his rebuilt image. He's stuck on a shelf at FRR. Barney won't even support "The Outlaw" persona. He won't let him use that on any FRR related items - just Kurt's own personal stuff. Kurt's merchandise will still be tough to find.

That's just one example of the kinds of things going through Kurt's head right now. He's in a pretty good place. There might not be a right or wrong answer, it's just a matter of what Kurt wants out of life. Both SHR and FRR will have $$ and good cars. It's all the other stuff that differs - and pretty significantly.

Barney likes a clean car, that's why he doesn't want any of the contingency stickers.

As for other sponsors, the phones ring. Kurt attracts plenty of opportunity, But Barney usually shoots them down in favor of Furniture Row.

id like to see him with a pit crew who doesnt choke when its go time

that 17 second stop this weekend IMO costed him the race

if kurt stays w/ barney.....i'm a new fan.
if he goes ta shr..... back ta kubu hater . ha!

I don't really care where he goes, I hope he doesn't lose the girlfriend, I think she has helped him with his image, in fact both of the busch's since they got into relationships are doing good on the fan side of the thing.

way out of the loop out in Colorado, not too many reporters lurking around.

Yea NASCAR is pretty far off the Denver sports scene even with a race team being based there. There's not even a story on the Denver Post website about Kurt getting an offer from SHR. A couple of Denver sportscasters that I follow on twitter usually tweet about how Kurt does each week and how he's competing for a Chase spot, and he was in Denver last week and got some good exposure. He threw out the first pitch at a Rockies game and then he spent a day at Broncos training camp and met Manning and the governor while he was there. Now they have Kurt they're getting alot more exposure out there as compared to Regan who was typically finishing around 20th, give or take a few spots. But even so, NASCAR is just an afterthought in what is clearly a Broncos town.

Do you know if Todd Berrier is signed for next year?

Kyle would agree. He fantasizes about Kurt's wife(s)all the time as he so politely let us know. Tehee

Wow, I didn't realize you were so touchy feely about racing. What's next, watching their weight and blood pressure?
