Milka Duno coming to NASCAR

http://espn.go.com/racing/blog/_/name/oreovicz_john/id/5426825/end-line-milka-duno

A news release from the IRL stated that Duno "requires immediate and substantial improvement to her driving during the remaining events on the 2010 schedule," adding "if the improvements are not met, the league may impose other penalties at its discretion."

Duno has been consistently the slowest driver at every IndyCar Series road race, usually by a comically large margin. In fact, Duno is often slower in a 650-horsepower Indy car than most of the field for the Indy Lights training series, which features cars with only 425 horsepower.

At Edmonton, for example, Duno was 6.3 seconds slower than the fastest practice lap turned by Castroneves. More significantly, she was 4.6 seconds slower than the next slowest entry, the A.J. Foyt Racing machine driven by Vitor Meira. Comparing apples to apples, she was 5 seconds a lap slower than her Dale Coyne Racing teammate Alex Lloyd.

Wow @AndyMarquisLive

Even Patrick called her dangerous

EDMONTON, Alberta -- On the first few laps of the first practice Friday, with fresh tires and almost no other drivers around her, IndyCar racer Milka Duno lost control of her car, smashed into the tire barrier and shredded her rear wing.

It gave fellow drivers more reasons to call for the Venezuelan racer to be expelled for a driving style they say is dangerous.

"She's obviously not up to speed," Danica Patrick said before Duno's crash during practice for Sunday's Honda Indy Edmonto

Patrick said the problem is not so much Duno's speed as the fact she doesn't follow accepted practice and move over when she's a lap down to let faster drivers get by.

"I'm not against having some different speeds up there, but she's not as gracious about her position as maybe somebody else might be," Patrick said.

Duno spun out again in the second practice session and finished last. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday.

The 38-year-old driver for Dale Coyne Racing has been pulled by track officials from two races this year, including last week in Toronto, for driving so slowly she was deemed a hazard.

She has failed to crack the top 20 in any race this season, and was knocked out by contact in Brazil and Kansas. Now in her fourth year of the series, Duno has never finished higher than 14th. She is currently ranked 25th, 275 points behind leader Will Power with the lowest total among the full-time drivers.

Ok..Ok...I have a question here...

Could Duno be looking at the attention Patrick has received in Cup and wants some of it for herself?

If so I do not like this at all.

Patrick is in this to try and win, and she loves racing.

No one is bashing DP right now. Well get back to that at the top of the hour...

Milka Duno makes Danica Patrick look like Kyle Busch.

Yep, that is how lopsided this deal is. I hope it backfires on the schemers that think they are going to make some money on this little dog and pony show. Wad up a few Toyota's

Neither will get attention when Kenzie Ruston moves in to Nationwide and actually produces results.

I REALLY like Kenzie. Shes a hardcore racer. I would LOVE her to go up to cup at the same time as Duno and show her whos boss.

And She has spent time in lower ranks...something I wish patrick did.

How dare that charlatan seek a nascar ride based on her looks! Who does that anyway?

Patrick is in this to win...she loves racing. If Duno is as dangerous as it seems she is....it has nothing to do with looks.
Seems Patrick has Duno beat in the talnet dept. Everyone gets their rides in different ways...but B E SAFE

I shouldn't say all negative things about Milka Duno. She helped me make a friend in college.

I was sitting in the student section at a baseball game when I was in college. A guy directly in front of me was watching the ARCA race at Daytona (yes, college baseball starts early). I was occasionally stealing glances, but wasn't going to be that guy who kept asking for updates and leaning over his shoulder.

At one point, he taps his buddy on the shoulder and says, "I know you won't believe this, but the caution is out because Milka Duno just crashed." I almost fell out of my seat laughing, thus admitting that I was absolutely eavesdropping and peeking at his phone. Then we properly introduced each other and have had many more racing conversations since.

So thank you, Milka Duno, for crashing in that ARCA race at Daytona a couple of years ago.

Oh, dear. I don't think I can take another one of these threads. May have to move all Danica and Milka to the Podium just so I can keep my sanity. :D

So you're saying you are Done-o with talking Duno?

I apologize, I'll show myself out.

I got a better idea for ya (not that I'm tellin you how to run the board) create a new sub forum for female NA$CAR drivers and move these threads there. But it's not a bad idea for a female drivers sub-forum because it looks like F1 will have 2 female drivers starting on 2015.

The next time Haley Moody is denied an opportunity, I will ******* kirk out. We got women out here that win races. Meanwhile, Milka couldn't drive a nail through a ******* doughnut hole and was quite literally kicked out of IndyCar because she sucked. Just, ugh. **** me senseless.
:XXROFL::XXROFL:

Will NASCAR allow “Milka Duno, Mantener Retener 500 Feet” signs on the cars' TV panels?

Why is there so much hate for female drivers? Even if Haley got a ride there would be haters on here tearing her down,

I don't think there is hate for a driver being "female". I think there is hate for them getting to where they are for all the wrong reasons. There are plenty of female drivers deserving of a chance to drive in a National series. It just seems that the ones chosen aren't the ones deserving. I'd say Danica is deserving, but maybe not for as fast as she went to Cup.

....

If you’ve followed Duno’s career for any length of time, you’re aware how enhanced those quotes and stats can be.

That aforementioned Rolex Grand Prix of Miami, Duno ran less than half an hour in the two and a half hour plus race, and co-driver Andy Wallace needed to perform a minor miracle to recover the lost time, claw back the deficit and win the race.

She was frequently black flagged in IndyCar for failing to sustain the minimum pace on road and street courses.

Leading an ARCA race at Daytona is hardly the racing world’s most memorable accomplishment.

All that aside, I do wish Duno the best, and I also hope for her sake and the team’s sake that her past performances in other forms of motorsport do not negatively impact her NASCAR career.

If it means to her as much as she says it does within this release, ideally she’s improved her craft enough in ARCA to where she will not be a potential liability on track.
