Agreed. I would guess that the truck series dates/schedule does a lot to hurt the attendance, but I really don't know what the biggest factor is. But I'm glad NASCAR recognizes there is a problem, and they are doing what they believe is in the best interest to improve it going forward. I am 100% on board with the new limitations (especially the xfinity series) but I can see why some may not like it, fans and drivers both. I really don't blame Kyle Busch for being upset, but deep down I think he understands why these decisions were made.
The way I see it, Cup teams already dominate the Xfinity series as is, so adding Cup drivers into the mix makes the competition even worse IMO. The Iowa race was the best Xfinity series race I've seen in many years. The racing was fantastic, and when you have Xfinity drivers/teams getting more exposure and winnings, that has to be healthy for the series.
I had planned on going to three races next year: Cup fall race at Martinsville, Trucks at Eldora, and Xfin at Iowa. Now I'm leaning towards Martinsville in the spring and also adding a Cup/Xfinity doubleheader in the fall. With these new rules, NASCAR just got an extra Cup and an extra Xfinity race out of me next year. I'm just one person and I'm sure there are others like kylefan who might go to less Xfinity races now, so time will tell if it helps attendance or not. At the very least, I certainly think it will help the quality of the product.
