NASCAR announces 2019 MENCS rules

So would you like to see the OSS or strictly use in just post race inspections? One shot and if you do not pass then tough running, you fail?

Or just have post qualifying and race inspection for the top three or have a random car from each manufacturer to inspect to ensure each maker is following suit? Its all interesting to me.

I would leave the specific inspection protocols to the experts. I believe robust pre- and post-race inspections are necessary, and that the mistake has been kid gloves enforcement. It doesn't need to be overly Draconian in pre-race, but failing any more than once should have serious consequences.

I'm not one of these "We must know by Sunday" people, so if they want to take the top 3-5 back to the R&D Center, that's fine. Generally I'd rather them get it right than be fast.

So this rules package that hasn't been run in a single race is going to be the basis for the next gen car. It's very promising to see NASCAR taking a wait-and-see attitude with this new package and isn't going all-in with its untested product and isn't committing to it for the next 2+ years...

So far I'm very impressed with Jim France's leadership of the Featherless Dart League after Brian stepped down.

There's a few of these :sarcasm: in there but I didn't want to fill my entire post with them at every point it was needed.

Wow, didn't O'Donnell go on record last year that the Gen 7 would debut in "2022 at earliest“? That's encouraging, they've stepped that up.

It is encouraging if the car is an improvement. If the 2019 rules are kept in place I don’t think the car is that important.

I was hoping the new package was just a band-aid to get us to the Gen7 car. Ugh.

Also, NASCAR has completely lost touch with the concept of qualifying. Mini heat races and drafting is not an accurate measure of individual speed. They might as well make them do a random draw every week like they do for the clash and skip qualifying altogether. Cuts on tire costs, fuel, etc., and still gives you a little bit of that circus feel that they're longing for.

So much here......

1) DQ'ing a car when the appeal is heard on Wednesday renders this complete bull**** unless a team chooses not to appeal. Who wouldn't?
2) Qualifying....Single car speed means absolutely nothing anymore. Wow. Car counts are everything now.
3) All of the proponents of DQ'ing are gunned until we find out what really happened driving out of the parking lot. Screw that.
4) I will concede composite bodies for OEM engines in '22. I am okay with that. Fabricators are not.
5) NASCAR is all in. I believe this is the fix it or we die proposal.

I am looking forward to seeing what the real world results of all these initiatives look like. I agree that it is a shame that Nascar will continue the use of gimmicks. However since they are moving more toward entertainment and further away from sport it is understandable.

I didn't think that there was anything that could keep me from the track until now. You take me to the high of a Kyle Busch win, and I find out in the parking lot that he has been stripped of it, I am not sure I come back. I have been there. You take me to that high, and throw me off of the cliff, I don't see how I'm not done. Wow. Just wow. I am not threatening anything. Statement of fact in regard to how I feel. It is my sincere hope that the MY TRD powered Toyota Camrys are built with 6 inches of tolerance. I'd rather be slow (I have survived that) than DQ'ed.
